Is there an alternative mail app that compares to the iphone mail client. The current mail app is not up to par for my needs and I do not not like the user interface

I prefer k9 mail. The user interface takes some getting used to, it's not that intuitive but it gives me a customizable unified in box and works well once you figure out how to navigate through it.

Describe some of your needs or maybe something you'd prefer in the interface. Maybe someone can go off that.
I agree with KingWp1 put some criteria down. I personally think the iPhone email app is weak and leaves a lot to be desired in a mobile mail app.

I've used k9 for a long time, but upgraded to kaiten when I got my Nexus 7 because I wanted dual panes. It's basically the tablet version of k9, but has some extra features and still works good on the phone.

Well really the ios mail app suited my needs completely, I don't really know how to explain it. I like how I don't have to resize the message on iOS that's my main delema

As mentioned, a little bit more info of your requirements would be helpful in suggesting a specific app. I personally did not like the stock Mail app that came with the S3. The problem I found was that if I read an email from my Outlook on my PC, the notification would not go away on my phone. I had a Galaxy Nexus before this and the mail app there would clear the notification, without me having to clear it, if I read the email from Outlook. I ended up removing my current mail + exchange app and replacing it with the stock ICS mail app:

Some good news, Google acquired Sparrow. It is the best mobile mail client I have ever used, looking forward to it coming to Android.
I just started using MailDroid free myself. The pro version is expensive, but I'll see what I thing after I've been using it a while.

Checkout Enhanced Email from the Market. Excellent support Daniel does an awesome job.
I use touchdown, but set my email up as a hosted exchange server

I need exchange support so I use touchdown, works great and worth the coin

I create unique return address for everyone I send emails to, K9 is the only app I could find that allows change the return address. Only because of that feature I'm stuck with K9, although don't like how difficult and not intuitive the interface is.

I found the CM7 email app to be pretty flaky for me. Sometimes it can't sync, or it'll keep grabbing emails that I've previous deleted days/weeks ago.
I have several emails, hotmails, gmails, ISP email, etc. So the default gmail or hotmail one isn't enough.
[Edit]
Found an app in a different thread called K-9 Mail

Just been playing with it for an hour or so, and I seems to be a fantastic email app.
Enhanced Email is best imo.

Enhanced Email is good. So is K-9 Mail, which I use.
Depends on how you are setting up your email account...
If using Exchange, Enhanced Email is pretty nice.
However, if using POP 3, I found Enhanced Email to have the same flaky bugs you are experiencing now.
I ended up using K-9 Mail. I did not like the icon for K-9 so I also installed K-9 Icon. It is a more professional icon/widget that just has an envelope with a message counter (although the counter only updates every minute). Plus K-9 Mail/K-9 Icon are free. I like free.
It's clearly not advertised well, but Kaiten is the new and improved version of K-9. I've been using it for over a year now.

It should be noted that Kaiten (a play on K-10, the successor to K-9), like Enhanced Email, is a paid app, while K-9 is still free. Nothing against paid apps, mind you--I use quite a few. I just wanted to make it clear.
I have been using the native client but I hate in notifications that it only shows one message unread not numerous ones. Also when you click it. It only takes you to inbox not to message.
Anyone know of how to fix these settings or another mail client?

I really like MailDroid free.
You can set different tones for different times of the day, and per email contact. Works great, if you want to have a really loud annoying tone from important people.
Anybody know a good Android app that does Exchange and also other email like Gmail combined?

the email app on the phone handles multiple accts of IMAP, POP, Exchange, etc.
They're separate apps natively...I'm basically looking for an equivalent to the All Inboxes function on iOS...

the email (not gmail) app will handle gmail as imap or activesync as well as any other accts. in a single or combined view.

MailDroid will do this, but its not a unified inbox, if thats what you are looking for.

You're right! Didn't know that...thanks for the info!
I use enhance email. I'm using m.google.com for gmail as exchange on 2 Accts. I really like it. Has combined inbox, fit to screen (mobile view) which was really important to me and I'm sure this app does more than my simple mind understands

I don't think this will do mutiple accounts, but by far the best Exchange mail app I've used is TOUCHDOWN by Nitro.
One of the things I LOVE about it, as opposed to using the built in Android mail app, is that any 'remote' admin features are ONLY applied to the Touchdown app.
ie: if your Exchange admin requires a password to get into your mail... if you use the standard android, you have to type it in every time you unlock your phone.... if you use Touchdown you only need to type it in when opening Touchdown.
And most importantly, last I checked, if the Admin wants they can remote wipe the DEVICE if you use the built in mail app.. with Touchdown they can only wipe the mail app's data.
I've used it for several years across multiple companies and it's pretty damn awesome. (It's not just mail btw.. it's also exchange calendars, and Tasks.. and they sync with the built in calendars and almost all widgets).
I am looking for a good email client for my phone and tablet. I have tried K9 and the Samsung clients but looking for something better. Anyone have some good ones?

I use Gmail. Always works for me.
Guess I should have added that this is for a non-gmail account. I do use gmail for my gmail account but I have a few other email accounts that I need a good client for.

I use touchdown by nitrodesk. My favorite and I've tried about 6. Moxier would be #2. though this is for exchange mail. so YMMV.

I vote Touchdown as well, but...................
Beware the sent emails that go missing completely (no success). Never fails to be a long and important message that disappears with no chance of recovering.
Also beware the included contacts app. Cannot create / nor edit a new exchange contact. Actually you can, but it will not sync with exchange.
There is a work around for this one.

I am a huge fan of AquaMail. It's so much better than MailDroid or K-9, the more "praised" mail apps. Try it out and I think you'll be happy.
Touchdown and Gmail here. Manage work contacts with touchdown and personal contacts via gmail. Keeps things nice and clean
I use MailDroid for my very finicky school email that doesn't work with a lot of other email apps. Never had a problem with it.
I see a lot of people recommending TouchDown, but I believe AquaMail to be superior to it. I've also tried MailDroid, K9 and they aren't as good as AquaMail.
Aquamail.

How is gmail on aqua? Does it get pushed or do you have to have it sync at certain times to get mail?
Show Some Love
^^ IMAP Push works great in Aquamail for Gmail account.
This might sound like a strange request, but here it goes.
I am looking for a mail app that supports Microsoft Exchange and allows me to fill in the domain. Most email apps support exchange, but only give the option to fill in the server (and email/password).
The standard email app used to have this option, but not anymore. Touchdown has this option as well, but it a bit too expensive for my taste.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Just discovered Nine - Outlook for android app. I have not been using it for a long time, but I can tell I won't look back. But, I must state these facts though. First, the app is not free as the service they provide is "Tha Bomb". One time payment of 9,99$ on the Play Store and the app is yours (there is no such things as monthly fees or subscription). Second, you can't use gmail with it because Google had changed the policy not to support ActiveSync for general Gmail users on January 2013, but I am pretty sure the devs will be looking to support IMAP in a near future. There is a 2 weeks free trial period, so why not giving it a chance, if you don't like it, just uninstall it after the trial period and go back to your favorite mail app. I am sure you will not be dissapointed!
** Note
Nine is not cloud based. It stores your accounts passwords only on the actual device. It connects only to the actual mail servers. It stores your messages only on the device.
Update: Nine - Outlook for android app is now called Nine - Email & Calendar. It now support Gmail & G Suite (Google Apps).
