overheating warning?

so i was tethering on 4g with the built in hotspot for a couple hours of xbox live modern warfare 2 with the phone plugged into the charger. i noticed that the notification light would periodically blink between orange and green which i was confused about, maybe my phone was overheating? it felt fairly warm. it didnt shutdown, and this flashing would stop then start up again periodically. xbox live doesn't use much data but its really frequently sending and receiving of course as the games are played.

How well did it work tethering? Did you have any lag on XBLive at all?
That's what my DInc would do when it was overheating. Early KiNgxKernel. Noticeably very hot to the touch, though.

it worked great. tried to tether on sprint on 3g or 4g and it was terrible. it would take forever to find a server with low ping/latency but with Verizon on 4g it's awesome. bye bye home internet, since i dont download media or do anything more than browsing on my computer anyway.

Overheating issues?

Anybody feel their amaze getting really really warm, almost hot? Kinda makes me not wanna use my phone a lot just because the heat might mess it up.
This happens around 15 mins of usage.
I haven't had that issue even under heavy use like games, videos, and web.
It may be an app or apps constantly running. Do you check your task manager often? U may have to kill some apps. Also is it charging when you use the phone? I know it gets hot quickly that way.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Really depends on what's running. When you first initialize the phone it's going to get hot as it syncs and updates everything but that should pass. If you have location enabled and use the gps, it will get hot, if you use maps and the screen is on, it will get hot...just check it for whats running and delete whats unnecessary. Of course I'm waiting for the root to really delete the crapware.
My amaze has been overheating it feel's like it's on fire randomly sometimes , even when im not on apps .
Mine gets really hot too.. not quite but almost too hot to touch. It's not even plugged in when it happens and its just from playing music it charging.. no heavy usage. Hopefully it'll disappear once we get some roms with no bloatware!
Yeah I experience overheating last night. This is by far the worst ive come accross on any phone. I may go to t mobile and look at the galaxy s2. I love this phone but too many problems for me

I can honestly say that there is no overheating issue with the GS2. I even have this phone plugged into the charger while browsing the internet and the phone is not overheating.

Thats exactly what i experienced using my amaze. Charging and using it i have no overheating issues. I guess its just the luck of the draw with these two phones. No phone is perfect though and i think both these devices have great features and potential.

Yeah, both phones are great. Its just with finding the right fit for you. I chose GS2 because I figured we would have a larger dev community, its lighter because of its plastic design and Super Amoled+. The downside of this phone is its resolution, but I don't notice it that much for it to be a big con. I heard some people actually rather the hefty-ness of the Amaze. I'm not gonna lie I love the design quality of it. HTC is always known for gorgeous designs.

Definitely happy with my purchase. This phone fits my exact needs. I'm surprised that your not getting overheating issues though. Most of my HTC phones with metal built in or around them had overheating issues after a few minutes of operating them.

Im actually suprised also. Smart phones do get warm when using alot but i might have got lucky because im constantly plugged in and doing something on this phone. My phone hasnt been above 98 degrees f yet. And thats while cruising the net or playing eternity warriors. I dont have any hd games yet so i'll test again when they become available to see if the phone gets real hot.

I guess you definitely one of the lucky few cause my myTouch 4g, G2, Nexus One, HD2 and Sensation all heated up. I know all phones heat up when in use, but the GS2 won't even get hot on the charger while in use and to me that's amazing. I'm glad you enjoy your phone and your not experiencing such issues.

you also have to remember 2 things though.... 1) the unibody designs always conduct the heat to the outside of the phone, although its operating at the same temp of most phones, the reason you notice it with the newer htc models is cause you can actually feel the heat cause of the unibody... 2) the sammys are all plastic, which doesnt conduct heat too well, so although its getting hot inside, you dont feel it. they both prob run at close if not the same temps, but you can just notice it more on the htc... thats all.

Picked mine up yesterday. I'm still playing around with it. Used gps on the way home from the store. It was waaaaaay more responsive than my Hero was. The screen is absolutely beautiful. It's super fast and feels really nice in the hand. The Samsung GS2 was actually too light for my taste. Plus the samsung screen size was a little too big for my smallish hands. Downloading and installing apps happens almost instantly. Really happy so far....but it HAS been less than a day. I've already installed Juice Defender (free) to hopefully alleviate any battery issues.
I do have a question tho. I'm having trouble getting to the media on my SD card. I deleted everything from my SD card from the Hero, dragged my Music folder and Video folder to the card and popped it into the phone but cannot seem to access any of it. What am I missing?
Make sure SD card is mounted in settings

Got it sorted out. Had to reformat my card. Also had to select sdcard2 or something like that in the folders in PowerAmp.
I love it. Got it today... Replaced my N1... I NOTICE QUITE A bit of light bleed from the soft key LEDs though.... Anyone else notice this?

I noticed the same, I dont. My only issue is the current lack of unlock codes (none available at this time - I'm on Rogers).
If someone is aware of a SIM unlock method which would only require Temp root that would be awesome
i too picked it up yesterday
i unlocked the bootloader and rooted the rom
installed the recovery
but there are several issue,
1) tried several different roms, the wifi and bluetooth doesn't work other then the stock rom. ( i also notice the flash light doesn't work when using those roms)
2) stock rom doesn't come with the fancy camera,( the one with smart shot )
anyone find any solution?
Just got mine today and loving it. Noticing quite a bit of screen bleed but it doesn't really bother me.

My usage was 100% on WiFi, yes I had some long periods where the phone just sat but that doesn't change screen on time. From experience the RF network is always the killer. I'd be pretty upset to see under 12 hours on a charge considering I see 14-16 on average using my Inspire 4G (rooted with an RCmix Rom).
Between home and work I'm almost always on WiFi.

My battery experience must be completed supported by my lack of radio network, I would expect a lot less once I'm actually using a SIM though hopefully still enough juice to reach 10 hours at least.

Just plugged my phone in to charge up so I can have a full charge in the morning. It was at 52% when I plugged it in. I had just over 12 hrs of light to moderate use today on that 48%.
I am still on stock sense rom and am using Juice Defender Free on aggressive setting. I saw no signs of the aggressive setting inhibiting performance. So far battery life is not as bad as I had heard it would be.

Hmm. Not working. It loops at the MC3 startup screen. Let me check and see if it is the ROM I am on (I am one of the few rooted devices). Hold on for a bit as I change.
Works just fine on the right ROM.
Controls are bit cramped because of the smaller screen but it is definitely playable.

[Q] Brighness Issues with Note 2

I just got the Note 2 a few weeks and so far it's my favorite phone I've ever owned. I love the big screen, I use the S pen all the time and the battery is tremendous.
One thing that I'm not quite fond of is the screen brightness, specially when using Netflix.
I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this with Netflix but the brightness on the phone seems to be OK but as soon as I start playing something on Netflix it's really dim. I have the brightness turned all the way up and it still looks really dim.
The quality also isn't great either, it's like it's not playing in HD or something. I've tried connecting to 4G and Wi-Fi and it still doesn't always look so great.
Wondering if there anyone knows of a solution or a hack or something?
I watch a lot of Netflix on my phone and would love to solve this.
I am rooted and I'm using JellyBeans 21 ROM.
Thanks.
Try going back to stock ROM and check if the issue persists.
I noticed that beans rom has reduced brightness overall (cannot say for sure but that was what I felt comparing against stock)

Have you adjusted your quality levels on netflix.com yet? If your not worried about data or use wifi alot crank up quality settings on the site. Then reboot and fire flix back up. As the video buffers during play quality will slowly increase. Depending on your connection it should play pretty decent quality a minute or so into the video. And if you use mx player for your video files make sure you have mx brightness turned up. Im pretty sure mx settings are independent of system. Im also running 21 but I always use beans stock kernel. And even on the puter or xbox netflix Never truly hits HD.

kernels don't do it either... sorry i'm not trying to troll you or anything it's just not true. maybe you hit "auto-adjust screen tone" in settings? it's a samsung setting that basically reduces brightness.l
Do a search on XDA and download the app called "A Brighter Note" (if you are rooted). It enables you to brighten your screen about 10% more.

If you do just remember one thing.
The AMOLED screen in our phones gets burn in if your not careful. the brighter the screen the quicker the burn in, at least thats what ive been told.
I have not seen any burn in on my phone, but I know people who are always at max brightness and you can see their status bar even in full screen apps because its burnt in...
