I don't get signal to begin with, but in my other phone for vzw it would report less of a signal but I could still send texts. With this sgs3 and att it reports 3 or 4 bars and when I try to text it still says "service unable, will try again when service becomes available" so I'm just trying to figure out if its the phone or the service and why it won't send when it says I have signal....
I uploaded some screens of my trying to call or text while you can see that j clearly have some service....maybe not service to download porn or anything but it should be able to send a simple text message , no?

It takes me several minutes to send a 50 KB image, if not longer.
I download over 500kbps from the Android market, yet it takes several minutes to download a 30 kb MMS.
I talked to T-Mobile and they said Android has issues with using WIFI, is that true?
My SIM card is literally 5 years old, I wonder if that is it?
I think MMS has to use OTA data...Its a carrier thing not a phone or android thing
(Correct me if I'm wrong someone)
Well mine does that from time to time as well but I never received the update a of last night. So I don't think its related to the update. Usually I'd your connected to wifi and your phone detects that a signal (3g) is faster then itll connect to that.

Yeah, I am aware. It is just that no matter how small the file is, it won't send.
I notice when I send an mms, 3G takes over wifi, and when finished sending mms wifi comes back.
Well whoever you talked to at Tmo that didn't answer this for you was a moron......
All mms and sms messages are sent over the network, regardless of wifi being on or not....
So even you are ay home connected to wifi, yet your actually signal strength to the network is low....it will take a while to send a mms...

Dead topic probably but........I think T-Mobile situation a bit different....T-Mobile has Wifi Calling plan....and where i've read, you can send/receive messages over wifi.

"Ability to send/receive SMS and MMS, and access Web2go over Wi-Fi."
Yea but you have to use T-mobile hot spot or their @home service.

Just install the WiFi Calling App. It's all over the place here. Do a search!
Because of the crappy signal in my house (0 to 1 bars), i frequently find my text messages not sending. Is there a way to have the phone automatically resend the messages if they fail?
I don't about automatically resending (there might be an app for that), but you can long touch the message you want to send (options will come down), and you'll be able to resend.
On another note: if you have bad signal in your house, I would recommend using the delivery report option. It will help you notice if your text was sent or not.
Or try a different modem. Which modem are you using at the moment and what rom?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
The rom im using is in my sig (bionix v 1.2.1), as for the modem, im using kb1. I've tried other modems, but they all give roughly the same performance for me.
I know you can long press the message and click resend, but I don't want to have to do that for every other message I send, it gets quite annoying.
try and different rom/modem. Or use wifi calling, when inside your house.
I am on the Saurom 7/7.1 on my ATT Galaxy Note I717 and whenever I turn WiFi on the 4GT cuts out (at least the icon disappears from the status bar). Is it possible to have both on simultaneously? Is this only on Saurom or is it normal for any GB ROM? And, is there a fix?
I was unable to find anything in search relating to the GNote on this subject though I did see one post for a Galaxy sII but on Tmobile and there was no fix.
Why would you want to waste battery on 4G when you're connected to wifi?
It'll turn on when needed, i.e. picture messages, visual voicemail. Like the other guy said, why would you want both and run your data up?

Curious what are you looking to fix?

What I'm Concerned About is..
I'm a fireman and I receive text message alerts via SMS and/or I need to call Fire HQ in order to let them know that I am responding. So if I'm on WiFi, can I still do the following even though I don't see the 4G in the status bar:
1. Get SMS text messages
2. Make phone calls
3. Receive phone calls
 ...
Sigh

As long as you have bars of signal and not a circle with a slash you're good to go. 4g is strictly data type stuff, like picture messaging, downloading visual voicemail and googling stuffs on the inner webs. Signal bars software whether or not you'll get texts and phone calls

Any time you enable wifi it will disable 3g or 4g it overides the system to save provider data, since using wifi dosent use your data plan...wifi is also the fastest data I believe over anything,as I understood from many techs but but quote me I could be wrong...though it is fast...
3g,4g,lte,hspa wifi. However you would like to call it. Is for DATA transfer (interent)... Voip is kinda like phone calls in laymens terms...You could technically disable data and wifi and still get phone calls.. hope it helps a little bit

So I have tmobile and when I go to send a text or sms sometimes it doesn't send it just has that loading arrow next to it. The thing is that I have full or pretty close to full bars. I can go browse the Web or an app fine. So why doesn't the message send if it has a good Connection? This also happens sometimes even when I'm connected to wifi and WiFi calling is active which should send the message even faster but it doesn't send. It just happens randomly sometimes I sent a message and checked back a couple hours later to find d out it hadn't been sent but failed or was still trying to send. I use the Google voice app to send the same message when the stock one is still trying and the app sends it instantly. Anybody else experiencing this?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I had only experienced this when i was using the wifi calling app after i turned it of it has worked fine since. Also my friends would tell me that they received the message when on mine it didint go through i found this out cause i would resend the message and my friend told me to stop sending the same thing haha
Please Give Me a Thanks if i helped
Hello..
I bought an Xperia Z2 from Amazon a few weeks ago.
My phone was using a giffgaff SIM CARD
My phone was receiving and sending text messages and phone calls for a few days
I was able to use the 3G internet (IM NOT USING THE 4G)
(I checked my allowance online and i have credit to text and call and i have a GB of internet left)
Then my phone stopped sending and receiving texts.
I would try send a text and an error message would pop up at the bottom of the phone screen saying "could not send message will send when network available"
Then i tried calling someone and an error message appears again but this time saying Mobile "Network Not Available"
Then i tried using the 3G internet AND THE INTERNET WORKS
Things i have tried and my phone is still not working.
I have rebooted my phone and still in the same state
I have factory reset my phone using Sony PC companion and still the same error messages
i have toggled with airplane mode (ON/OFF)
I have changed the service provider settings and selected it to my one and a message appears at the top saying "SELECTED NETWORK UNAVAILABLE"
My phone is very important to me and for me to pay a lot for it, then to use it for 5 days then suddenly to wake up next day and it doesn't work is very annoying.
Any help would be amazing
I am waiting to hear from you possible life savers

It's not completely solved yet, although Sony guarantee a 2 year warranty with the Xperia Z2.
I've rung the Sony Xperia support team, they had no Idea what the problem could be so they suggest sending it to them and ill either get it fixed or a replacement. All free of course.
the problem is still ongoing. It is annoying. I am going to give the phone to Sony as i have a warranty!
