What is it? Okay, well kenjesse put it best with this description : " Pdroid is an app that lets you modify permissions app by app with out breaking them. You also have the option of "spoofing" the permissions by sending randomly generate data rather than your phones actual sim, meid, phone #, etc.
As the app does not need to run constantly in the back ground it has virtually no impact on battery.

On the next page of this thread I have posted the patch zip necessary to install the pdroid app on CM7 for DX2 only!!! I will make patch zips for other roms upon request but it can be done easily by following kenjesse's instructions below. After flashing the zip just download and install pdroid from the play store ......viola! Thanks for stopping by and happy flashing!
Looks like a pretty cool program. I've read other post that reference making changes like this, always wondered how. Wonder if this is one way, I'd assume there are other ways too.

Just got done installing this and it seems to be working great. I'm running CM7 with no special tweaks other than Moon Shadows wifi fix, following instructions from op here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056
this is what I did:
1. DL Pdroid Patcher zip to PC (Win7 in my case)
2. Extract Pdroid Patcher exe file and run
3. Browse to update-cm-7.2.0.-RCO-daytona-KANG-public-beta1.zip (cm7 ROM) and select.
4. Click "Patch" (program takes about 2 minutes to create required patch zip file as well as restore file if you choose to uninstall Pdroid later)
5. copy the 2 created zip files (PDroid-v1.31-update-cm-7.2.0-RCO-daytona-KANG-public-beta1.zip & PDroid-RESTORE-update-cm-7.2.0-RCO-daytona-KANG-public-beta1.zip) to your external SD Card
6. Boot in our BSR BACKUP...BACKUP DO A NANDROID BACKUP!!!!
7. Flash the PDroid zip file
8. I did not wipe anything as it is not stated to do so in the OP install instruction... I did flash cm7 reRecovery before I rebooted just to be safe.
9. Reboot your phone, go to market and install Pdroid.
I tested by removing several permissions for my Fox News app which doing thru cm7 causes the app to break, using PDroid the app still worked. Not sure how to test beyond that.
I did notice that the reboot stayed on the cm7 animation for a while before the phone came back up as if a dalvik wipe had been done.
Hope this helps and if you break it it's your fault not mine and remember...BACKUP
You are awesome! Thank you very much for giving this attention, I can't wait to follow the steps you've listed when I get home. Thanks again

Quick update... there is a setting in the app to display anytime an app request access to private data. With this turned on it shows access being denied to my Fox News app and the app runs fine. This really is an awesome app.

He probably should update the op title. Pdroid is an app that lets you modify permissions app by app with out breaking them. You also have the option of "spoofing" the permissions by sending randomly generate data rather than your phones actual sim, meid, phone #, etc.
As the app dose not need to run constantly in the back ground it has virtually no impact on battery.
I highly recommend it, for what that is worth. Check it out at:

Beautifully put. Hey, I would update the op title but it's not letting me from the mobile app. I will later when I'm on my laptop.
Hey, how did you spoof the permissions? Don't see that option within the settings. I just see symbols without descriptions (gear, bar graph, check, ect...)?
Just to add, I don't know if it's just in my head or not but I feel like my phone is moving way faster After changing all the permissions that I did.
........and last, I'm going to post the patch zip file for cm7 dx2 when I get home so all anyone needs to do is flash it and download pdroid from the market (Google play (stupid name)....whatever). Okay all done.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Settings options are:
Check = allow
Graph = random spoof
Gear= set the spoof value
Slashed Circle= block
And then there is a check box in the top right corner to enable notifications for just that app.

Okay, here are the zips. Just flash the first of the 2 zips in CM7 recovery and then install the Pdroid app. The second zip is just to restore. I'm not responsible if you break your phone...blah blah blah.....THIS IS ONLY FOR CM7DX2 (but if anyone wants I will make zips for any rom on dx2, just ask.)!

Thanks for the help Kenjesse!
So please help me clarify what setting should I set the apps to? Also do I need to do them one at a time or can I do it by batch?
Okay, what I have been doing is blocking ALL permissions for any given app and then trying to run it. I then look for any error messages and go back and enable only those specific permissions to allow the app to function properly. You'll get a system once you use it a bit. .....and unfortunately there is no batch function. It is a very cool app though once you play with it and definitely enable the function where you can see it blocking and granting permissions. It's pretty cool!
........and someone please tell me how to change the title of this post please

Flashing The update zip makes the required changes for the app Pdroid that you get from the market to run properly with the cm7 ROM. IT WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU ARE ON CM7. If you later uninstall Pdroid you flash the restore zip to remove the changes made by the update zip.
I believe it is done this way so the app can work without root permission and therefore doesn't have to run in the background....I could be wrong though and as with any mod you should go to the linked thread above and research it for yourself.

In the skyrocket thread they were able to open ultracfg.apk we have that file, but I can't open it. I copied it out of system/app and tried to launch it, but it's just the installer. I'm going to NAND backup, then I'll erase the one in app and see if I can't reinstall and get it to show in the app drawer

Removing that file was nothing but a pain. TiBu didn't want to reinstall it, erasing out of apps I couldn't reinstall from the copy I had. We might just need a person with access to a skyrocket with ics to pull it done supposedly theirs shows up in app drawer

I'm Sure DAGr8 is going to put this in a future release of the modded version he posted last night.
TetheringManager.apk was still in my /system/app. I removed it and checked Titanium again. Tethering Provisioning was missing. When I tried to turn on Hot-Spot, Settings crashed. Restoring TetheringManager.apk, I am greeted with a message box to call AT&T to enable.

I tried the ultracfg posted in the multi-dpi thread. The access point showed up on on my Xoom but I could not change the settings. Without the key I could not connect.
I had a program installed that I could choose how to reboot my Note. It had the normal options as well ones to reboot into Download mode or Recovery. I lost it when I played with one the new custom roms. :crying:
Does anyone know the name of the app I'm talking about?
Use power tool from the market.
I don't believe that's it. Nothing there gives boot options.
Not sure what you mean. Powertool is an app developed by Flappjaxxx. It gives you the option to boot into recovery, download, reboot etc..... you probably had quick boot, but I pointed you towards powertool because I'd like to support our Note devs.
That does sound lie the name of the app I used but it's not coming up in the Google Market. I'll do more searching.
Maybe you had quick boot.

Ok so, I am running Liquid Gingersense. I have the new combo radio installed. I am using 4ext.
So today I am playing on the play store (PC version). I saw an app my wife DL. I wanted the app too. The play store said that the app is not compatible with my unlocked TB but it is ok on my wife’s stock TB. Why? There is also a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336245
This guy is saying that a game has shut down on him because he was rooted. Don’t know if there a tie between or it is just a coincidence. But why is an app ok to use on a stock TB but not a rooted TB?
Here is the app I was using:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webascender.callerid#?t=W10.
That app isn't giving me any issues running nusense.... The other I played for months without any issue.

Yeah depends if the rom you're running changed the LCD density, or much more. Even the smallest tweak can throw off the market.

I never even thought of that. I did change the density a little. hmmmmm.
If you changed the density the market will make apps not compatible. Stock density is 240 and it can be changed I. the build prop.

Wait a little while. I think the Play Store caches information and takes a bit to forget or to force a re-check.
Check what the device profile and name are in the build prop.

Just download an apk from somewhere and bypass market.
Just search name of the app you want and put .apk after it in Google search.

Thanks for your guys help with this. I Just ended up flashing to the ODJDub's ROM. Everything is showing back in the play store. I am not sure as to what happened. Maybe a glitch in the Matrix lol. I did clear the caches and even went as far as installing an old market.apk. But Flashing to the new ROM seemed to fix it. It was not that I wanted the app from the store so much as to finding out that I was being restricted from the apps themselves. I do understand that the app store is device/carrier specific. But it shoild not have made a difference from a stock TB to a rooted TB. That was more the point I was psuhing. I did not nor do I ever like having the restriction placed againt my device. Is that not the reason why we aquire S-off?
I'm certain there was something in your build.prop that IDs your phone to the Market that was blocking this. Knowing your phone is rooted or not, I don't believe, can be checked beforehand. Now, once the app starts installing, it could check. Another scenario that I'm 100% certain of is when the app tries to run for the first time, it can check for root access and at that point, it can run or not run (and warn the user).
The Market can be finicky. My wife's phone runs Skyraider Zeus on her Thunderbolt and has for many, many months. Last week, apps that she has ran in the past now don't appear in the Market. Rest assured, she changed NOTHING in her build.prop file. I login on the PC and she has (2) phones listed, one is "HTC Thunderbolt" and the other is "ADR6400L". The ADR6400L is what the Market thinks is current and apps aren't compatible with that phone because they effectively don't know what it is...
I had issues with the market running skyraider and ikream. Themed markets will cause incompatibility problems sometimes. Maybe try getting LCD density modder pro and use their modded market.

After the latest OTA updates to my Droid DNA I achieved S-off with rumrunner; flashed Carbon ROM with kitkat 4.4; latest gapps package; crpalmer's kernel, and I thought everything worked fine. Until I realized I cannot receive or send MMS. Do not like hangouts; using Chomp SMS; in settings it says if MMS is not working to copy APN and paste in settings. When I look for APN; I cannot select APN, when I try to it says stopped responding. Any help to get MMS working will be very appreciated.

I am not sure. I read in at least one post someone using that kernel and it was working for them.
I got rid of full gapps and installed gapps micro, rebooted and still did not work.
For some reason it seemed to me that I was not able to connect to mobile data even though I could make phone calls, (I could be wrong). I went back to the Cyanfox 4.4 Rom and now I have a daily driver. I was going to update my radio but could not get it to work. I am still very new at all this and this is my first root and modify... project??? LOL. I registered as dev with HTC and downloaded the stuff to make mods but cannot get it to work as they displayed on their website. Maybe the root and install ROM is basic stuff and now I am in over my head. Thank you for your suggestions and help.

Ya... , we talked about that. I made sure that I was following his directions totally. But, I am willing to try if you have suggestions. I really like the Carbon ROM but I have to have SMS/MMS as I am a salesman our sales team relies heavily on this capability; for that reason I reverted to the Cyanfox ROM, (full functionality with this ROM).

Everything was working best I could tell with Cyanfox; I just really like that Carbon ROM though...
Yaaaayyyyyy... Last night I achieved success. I cant remember where I found it, wish I could to give thanks, but somewhere I seen someone post that to load a radio you have to open command line from inside the platform-tools... anyway I have updated radio. Last night i wiped everything and did a fresh install of the Carbon ROM and did not flash crpalmer kernel but kept what came with the ROM. So far today the only problem I have had is when I play music the dsp is not working. That is not a big deal but... I wish I could just delete it if it is not going to work. And one time I was playing music and a text came in and it made my phone reboot; but I was playing music after that and had a text but it did not make my phone reboot.
I do not know about reseting or installing another RUU... I am a noob just trying to learn some of this stuff. I am giving you thanks for sticking with me and trying to make sure that I have working, fun phone that I own and not vzw... lol
