Ok, so, yes I am a rooted user of the Nook Tablet but before I rooted I purchased some apps on the Nook Shop and thus primarily use that to install and update them rather than pay for them twice and all.
I recently had some issues with one of the apps so I archived it and then unarchived it. Only to find that it would not install again! It just hangs at the "install" tag below the app icon in the Library. I can download books and magazines from the Nook Shop and apps appear to download but hang on the install process.
I am running v1.4.3 and I am pretty sure this must have something to do with my rooting of the device. I really can't imagine going back to a non-rooted device and don't really want to buy the apps again. I have tried this with other apps in the Nook Shop (free ones like Skitch and Evernote) only to find that they do the exact same thing. In fact, any time I want to even update an app that is in the Nook Shop it does this.
I'm really at a loss here.

Since no one else has replied I'll give you a thought. I have never run 1.4.3 so keep that in mind.
My guess is the process you used to root did more than just root and therein lies your problem. I think 1.4.3 may be smarter about changes than previous versions.
Otherwise think of other changes that you may made and not mentioned build.prop, etc.
All of this is just guessing but may give you a new way to look at your problem and find a solution. I have seen this complaint several times but didn't read the posts because I had nothing to offer; maybe you could learn more with a search.
Good Luck!

I'm gonna sell my G-Tablet. I bought it back in December and since then I've decided that I'd rather have a smaller/lighter tablet (Nook Color) with a much better screen, even though it's much less powerful. I love my G-Tablet, but it's time to say goodbye :0
Anyways, to my question. In getting it ready to sell, I just wiped the tablet clean and installed the latest version of Vegan-Tab without a hitch. What I'd like to know is there a way to sign into the Market and download most of the common free apps and then wipe any trace of me using that tablet? Can I boot into recovery and wipe user data or something and all the apps I just downloaded still be installed? If that won't work is there another way to do this in order to have the apps installed before I sell it?
Thanks a ton!!!
Bumping back up.
Any thoughts?
There's lots of ways to download apps outside of the Google Market. Some are legit and some are not.
Just Google for <appname>.apk and you should find plenty of hits. Of course, don't pirate paid apps, but I don't think that's your issue anyway - I doubt you want to load paid apps onto a tablet you are selling.
You can download the .apk directly to your PC. Transfer it over to the SDCard and use iFile to find it. Selecting it will install it.
I keep an "Apps" folder on my PC, so when I switch ROMs, it's easy to install them as opposed to downloading them all again.
I have a rooted Nook tablet which I just created last night by following the 40 minute Albert video on Youtube (his most recent upload)
So I have OTA blocked with a rooted Nooktablet running the ADW launcher (Since that's what Albert chose in that video)
The problem is when I try to purchase an app in the market I get the error "An error occurred while creating your order."
I visited other forum posts that were listed under other devices so I reconfirmed my credit card in my goggle and I was sure to reboot my device.
I also tried going to the droid market website to see if I could purchase it there then just download it over to my Tablet but over there it tells me "There are no Android devices associated with this account.", however all the free apps I've downloaded do show up there so I know I'm on the right account and everything.
I'm not sure what else to do and I couldn't find any specific postings under the nook tablet section outlining a similar problem.
Any ideas?
I have been able to purchase without an issue. Is this your only android device?
I've never owned an android device before, my friend who rooted the same doesn't seem to have any problems so I can't figure out what's wrong. I think the only difference is he went with honeycomb, but that shouldn't make a difference, especially since I can already download free stuff just fine.
Edit:
I think the problem I'm having here is google isn't recognizing my Nook tablet as an android device. I think if I can figure out how to get it to show up as a device on the droid market I should be able to purchase apps just fine.
launchers have no effect. I might try recreating an android account with another email and credit card and see if that fixes it.
Ahh I got it by trying to do a completely unrelated thing!
So what I did was I wanted to somehow make it so i could enter a new email so through a search I found to use Super Manager and to go to the Root directory and go to data/system and delete accounts.db
I did that and when i reentered the market place (After rebooting my device) I decided to enter my original email just for the heck of it, and after reentering everything it happens to work perfectly now and shows up on the droid market website.
Issue Resolved, I hope me sharing what I did helps anyone else who might experience a similar problem in the future.
Alright, I've looked all over and couldn't find anyone asking the same question, so here it goes. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Back in November I rooted my stock Nook Tablet. I did not install any other ROMs, I just rooted it and used the method to make the software version 9.9.9.
Due to some school things I haven't picked my Nook Tablet up until recently. Tonight I noticed that both the Fandango and Words with Friends apps needed to be updated. So I went to the "Apps" library and tapped "Check for Updates." When I did this, it told me that all apps were up-to-date, despite the fact that both the Fandango and WWF apps still said they needed to be updated.
I suspect this has something to do with the version 9.9.9 thing, but I am not sure, so I jumped on here to ask if anyone has any idea what's up.
Furthermore, I've noticed that if I install WWF Free from the Android Market, by Nook App of WWF no longer says it needs to be updated until I actually click on the app.
Everything else related to the Nook works fine. Downloading books, magazines, other apps, etc. But for some reason, no updates are showing up as available.
Anybody have any idea what's going on? I'm stuck. Once again, any help is appreciated!
Hmm. Ok, so I did some more investigating. It looks like you can force the app to update without using "check for updates" by archiving the app and then un-archiving it.
This is just a work around, but if anyone else has the same problem, this looks to be a way to fix it for now.
I have had the same problem.
I have a similar work around....I use Go Launcher to uninstall the B&N apps and then after a reboot I go to the Nook App Store and redownload the apps. MOST of the time it downloads the new updated version, but sometimes I have to do this process several times to get the new version.
Bill
Good morning,
I would greatly appreciate help from anyone who could bail me out of the situation I got myself into.
Here's the background: My wife and I have been using SGSII for about two years and during this time I have successfully been able to utilize odin oneclicks and TiBu to upgrade our phones several times. Unfortunately, this is the extent of my exposure to android and rooting and ROMS etc. So I basically need dead simple answers without jargon.
We have been pestered by the OTA update requests for ICS for several weeks. I wanted to skip that and get to JB and since the GB27 one click is available I decided to go for it. I had no problems on my phone and used TiBu to get all my programs and settings back just fine.
If I had to screw up on any phone I wish it was mine because now I'm in the doghouse with my wife. Short version: did selected directory backup via usb (mainly pictures and a couple of key apps) and had the TiBu backup on microSD. GB27 installed fine. However, found out the MicroSD was corrupt/unreadable (found out afterward she had been having problems but didn't know it was due to bad SD card).
All apps installed fine from google play except the one app she specifically told me she needed - SplashID. I used my microSD and transfered the file folder from the PC and managed to get it on her phone. Now on google play it shows that we have it installed but when I try to run it tells me that we have to buy the app. I'm sure that this is because the android ID changed and it doesn't recognize my wife's phone.
My question is how can I fix this? I tried using TiBu to restore previous ID but it doesn't find a prior android ID.
I really need some advice to help save me. Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
-Steve
Contact google, you had your receipt sent to your e-mail account.

From my experience as long as I use the same Google account I purchased the app with there is no problems with re-installing the app directly from the Playstore then I restore data using TB if required. I sometimes have issues with TB not backing up the market links properly.
Basically if you sign in using the same Google account then the purchased app should show as purchased but not installed once you click it in my apps you should be given the option to install. If you aren't then gastonw has provided the only other option.

GastonW - Thanks for the advice. I will try contacting google through the play store tonight.
Auss - The device is definitely linked to her google account. She has only ever had one google account and all the apps except the paid ones reinstalled fine.
From searching on the forums it does seem that this is related to the android ID changing when the system was wiped and upgraded to JB. Unfortunately, since my TiBu backup was hosed on the microSD card I am unable to restore the previous Android ID or the app backup.
I am hoping that google will be able to restore my prior android ID otherwise it seems I might have to contact each software developer of the paid apps and try to get them to honor the app. Has anyone had to go this route?
Again, any feedback or advice is appreciated. I will keep you posted on my progress with this dilema.

Always keep Tibu updated, it will prompt android id change when it actually changes.

Ok, I blew it! (he says sheepishly)
This is one of those situations where I should have check my premises.
I was updating my wife on my troubleshooting efforts including contacting Google and SplashData when she happened to mention that she actually does have another google account. She did not realize it had been linked to her phone before but after I added it back to her phone the problem with SplashID resolved.
I do appreciate everyone's helpful advice and I appologize for the wild goose chase.
Thanks again,
Steve
Hell of a goose!
.....wait....that just sounded bad

Hey, I'm new to the forum and wanted to say thanks in advance for the help and to mention that I searched the forum before posting so I apologize if I've overlooked something.
I recently purchased a Polaroid PMID720 dual core Android 4.1 tablet to keep myself busy at work and I don't have access to the Google Play store, I had purchased a Polaroid PMID701 for my daugher for Christmas and had no problem getting the Google Market installed but so far I haven't been able to do the same with this one. I initially triend installing the older Google Market following the instructions found at the-digital-reader website (these are the instructions I used for my daughter's 701) but after I get it installed and attempt to start the app it crashes when I try to add my Google account. While searching I've stumbled onto the thread for the Polaroid AIO software several times but Southern Telecom (the company that makes the Polaroid tablets) doesn't offer the firmware for the PMID720 on their website.
I know that this is far from a high end tablet - it was purchased to watch a few videos, read some ebooks, and screw around on the web when I'm dead at work - but not having access to the Google Play store severly limits its usefulness (the Amazon store suuuucks). Any advice is appreciated and, again, thanks in advance for the help.

Google: "Installing Google Play without rooting on Android Mobiles or Tablets"
I cannot enter the url. I had the same exact problem as you. This method has worked for me (I also have PMID720 and got the same error as you when following the instructions that worked with earlier models).
While I was able to get Android Market installed, Google Services seemed to crash constantly. Also, none of the music apps running on the PMID720 recognized the playlists on my SD card (the same playlists that worked flawlessly on my old Emerson EMS543 and another Android device).
So, my solution was to return the PMID720 and exchange for a PMID705. Yes, it's slightly slower and less memory, but everything works: Android Market, Play Lists, etc... And, it was $30 cheaper.
I followed the instructions at:
http://www.the-digital-reader.com/2...ps-gplay-etc-on-polaroi-pmid701/#.UN48FG9X2WZ
The Play Store would say 'blah no data provisioning' or 'no reliable service...'.
I then went to Settings>Accessibility and at the bottom there is box to enhance web accessibility. I turned that on and launched the Market and followed the prompts. Afterwards a Google account was in my settings and I could access my apps at the Play Store. I then reset the Accessibility setting to 'Not Allowed' because I do not know what all it does.
I should also mention that I altered my '/etc/hosts' file, but I am not sure that was needed. I immediately downloaded the XDA app and saw your post. Wierd, huh?
Hope this helps.
Edit: I erased the google market and retried my steps and they failed. I had to install the apps in this order to get it to work again (I did leave the Accessiblity feature on again):
1) OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2) SetupWizard.apk
3) GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk
4) vending-3.1.3-signed.apk
When I tried to connect with my gmail I got the same errors as above until I rebooted my tablet, it then finally connected. I sincerely hope this works for you. Also if you have installed any of the above, delete their data and reinstall.

I followed your instructions, but after the reboot, I still got the no data provisioning error. I then toggled the wifi to airplane mode and back and then I was able to sign in and download apps from the Market and the Gmail app began syncing. Chuck

That post will tell you all you need to know to get Google Play Store (the ICS version, whatever that was) on your PMID720. I just finished doing it, and it is working fine. If only my wireless at home was! lol
I used the wireless adb portion of the play_alpha2 package. It worked flawlessly, once I realized which copy I needed to download. They all have exactly the same name, but they're not all identical packages.
Good luck!

Updated method!!!
I can't be the only one out here still using this tablet and trying to figure out how to improve it! The Google Apps are still working just fine. No forced closes or errors of any kind. I am pleased as punch about this, but it's kinda frustrating to come in so late in the game and find nobody looking anymore.
