Youtube keeps loading video every 10 seconds, HELP! - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I own Epic,Epic Touch and Sprint GS3.All Youtube videos play fine on my other two phones but on GS3 it takes 10-30 seconds to load the video, and it keeps buffering every 20 seconds, its ridiculous i feel like throwing my new phone against the wall.
Any suggestions?Im on Blazer 1.6 with the newest Youtube app.I have Time Warner 20mbps connection so that's not the problem.
Is it the new YouTube app or its GS3 related?

I'm on stock and I get this problem too sometimes. But it seems like it's mostly for 10+ min long videos and while I'm connected to WiFi.

Same here. Everything played fine on my vibrant running slim ics 4.2. So I dunno, might be the app on our specific device because when it starts running slow and constantly buffering, I think it's my connection until I goto another site and the speeds are fine. Even speedtests show it's fine

I had the problem on my evo LTE and Manual set up my wifi connection, but I don't have those problems on my gs3

Same thing happens to me I had to resort to using TubeMate to just download the video and watch it.

I'm having this exact same issue on my Sprint S3. It's really pissing me off. My OG EVO is fine.

Are all ya on Sprint's GS3 or its on all variants?
Regardless we need to let devs know about this.
Or maybe there is a hacked/tweaked Youtube app,i remember seeing 2 Youtube apk files in one of Sprint's roms.

Nah, t-mobile here. But it's looking to be an issue for some devices across carriers. But like stated above, it usually only happens for me on WiFi with videos over 10-15mins long it will buffer quite often

I guess not to many people watch youtube because nobody wants to find a solution to this serious problem.

[Q] Youtube not working?

My YouTube app is behaving horribly. When I try to search and watch something it plays a random video...Most notably its been playing like lil Wayne videos instead of something like a video from machinima.
Is mine a defect?
Noticed that with the display model too. Nexus S sitting next to it when both pushed at same time took like .5 sec for Nexus S and 7 or 8 sec for the 3D...same once list loaded, selected the same video at same time and it was about 10 sec behind the Nexus S, and yes both were running on 3G mode not 4G. Needless to say I didnt buy one today even though I drove 60 miles round trip to do so
Did u do the ota I haven't had that issue been having fun on YouTube and the net haven't done the ota update yet.
I did a reboot and it seems to be working fine. This time though I am on WiFi instead of 3g.

Yeah, I updated whatever HTC gave me.
Seems to be a problem with being on 3G. The same videos loaded up fine and played the video I wanted in WiFi, while if I was on 3G, it loaded for a while and then played a random video completely irrelevant to the one I chosen.
Argh. Anyone know Bestbuy's exchange policy?
Similar issue here. I went to market and searched for youtube. It did not show as installed so I installed youtube from the market (even though it was on the phone obviously) and everything works fine now. BTW...I had the problem after the OTA. Didn't check before.
I tried that and it still does not work properly..
It's perfect on WiFi while it plays a random video over 3G..

Can't play flash videos on 3g!

Couldn't find topic with this, so if one exists, sorry and let me know.
So far, unlike sgs2 and regardless of reception and network speed, I am unable to play flash from the browser properly. Video freezes 2 seconds into play while audio keeps playing normally. Netflix app shows the same problem. You tube app does not.
Stream everything fine on wifi. Different roms or modems do not help. Pausing for a while does not help as well cause it does not buffer whole video.
Any confirmation from others, or a clue how to fix this?

Could you please check in your contract if such things like streaming are allowed?
My provider forbids streaming and keeps pushing APN-settings with a trafficshaping (and completely overloaded and unreliable) proxy when hitting a 3GB/month usage
With Fido and 6gb package, streaming and tethering certainly is. And historically on original Internet apn its straight through data pipe, although past few years they started blocking voip and vpn ports.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Crap.! Spoke too soon. Regular apn, same problem.
Sent from my GT-I9300
If possible, please try if the same issue arises when using a VPN.
If they try to trafficshape streaming, that should get rid of it.
Why would it work on sgs2 without problems and without vpn. Same apn, same neighbourhood, all conditions same.

So you steam on wifi (which is no problem for anyone) , or on 3g?
Only workaround i was able to find is restart the phone before streaming.
I don't know if it's memory management, asu level or whatever, I don't care, just annoys the crap out of me.
What's funny is that north American model does not have this issue, but has extremely crappy bluetooth. Keeps disconnecting on its own.

This was the only issue that pushed me towards purchasing north American version to try.
Than i found some things amazing and some things sorely lacking on it. So basically it came to this... If theres gonna be fixes... It will be coming first here on i9300...While I would be lucky to have one or max 2 updates on Rogers version.
Have high hopes in jelly bean as well (which will definitely come sooner on this phone than nam version) , not some fantasy, just real observation while flashing my brother in laws galaxy nexus, noticing it uses approximately 100mb of ram less to run, than the ics release on the same phone. The might give is just enough headroom to improve multitasking and not feel lack of ram as much.
Im testing some more things before losing hope of fixing this myself.

jelly bean does not support flash player... that's the biggest reason why others are not going to update... majority of the sites still use flash player for now... the only reason i jumped from iOS to android is because of flash support... now they decided to take it away in jelly bean... very sad...

ICS Rom with working Slacker Radio?

I don't know if I am just setting this up wrong but so far I have tried:
Energy Blue
Energy stock
Android revolution
stock
jelly bean fusion
and all the them slacker don't work right.
Just hangs on songs randomly after about 2 songs and won't go any further.
Are there any roms that have this working correctly?
Anyone?

Yeah I saw that guys post too and posted there.
set mine not to go below the 400 range one and still had the same issues with no change.
Yeah, I've noticed this too. I've got a ticket open with Slacker. I noticed this right after the update to ICS, Slacker stopped working. Slacker customer service sucks, big time. Tons of reviews on Google Play say it hangs after a couple songs. It hung with stock after ICS update, stock after ICS update in safe mode, the 3.2.2047 hangs, and even the just released 3.2.2058 (which is supposed to fix connectivity issues), still hangs.
I've had two tickets open with slacker, one a couple months ago, and it took forever to get them convinced it wasn't my WiFi. I told them on the same connection, I could sit and watch Netflix all day. It's clearly a problem with their app. I wouldn't care so much if I didn't like the service so much.
I've given the app a single star review along with my several trouble tickets.
It's inexcusable for the app to not work, since it's a bundled app.

[Q] VZW GNII Tethering Data Issues

I live about a mile from the nearest VZW LTE tower. I have a direct line of site to it from my back deck. I have the GNII and an iPhone 5 and my previous Android device was a GS3 (Verizon). Tethering with the GS3 was OK, and the iPhone is great, but with the Note its subpar at best. I have the $30 unlimited tethering package (No other High Speed internet options where I live). I have been experiencing data drops when tethering to the note and the speed is definitely lower and less reliable than when I am using the iPhone. I REALLY prefer using my note, does anyone know of any radio fixes or firmware to help correct the issues with GNII tethering? I can post screenshots if necessary, and I do understand that the GS3 used a Quallcomm chipset while the Note uses the Exynos radio, so I expected differences, just not this much. I also will note that using the Note while not tethering doesn't seem to be an issue at all. I can surf, view youtube in HD on the device etc without much buffering time at all, but when I tether it it will drop out several times in just a few minutes. Any info or opinions would be great. Many thanks guys.
I have the same problem from time to time. Keep in mind this phone just out and I'm sure we will get firmware update down the road. I had bluetooth pairing problems with my HTC phone at first when I got them.
If you restart your hotspot when it happens it might reduce the drop out problem. It works for me when I start getting that problem.
I swap back and forth between the official VZ hotspot and the TreE Mod wireless tether.
We use tethering for my ipad, my daughters ipod and a very fast PC laptop.
I find the TrevE mod is consistently faster than the VZ hot spot for some reason, but the reason I use both different methods is that I'm never sure which one will stay connected better on any given day.
One day, one will work better and the next day the other one will work better and I never know ahead of time which will be the right choice that day. I have unlimited data and don't pay to tether so I can't call VZ and ask. I don't really tether all that much or I would pay for it (I'm definitely NOT one of those DBs that uses 150 gigs a month with a free wireless tether and then brags about it) but I just live with the little quirks as I'm getting it free anyway.
I use TrevE mod and have a rock solid connection. I can stay connected for days at a time. Considerably faster than my Galaxy Nexus was.
I've downloaded a couple hundred gigs so far. It NEVER drops connection.
Scott's CleanRom FTW.
This phone has an awesome radio.

You know it's really funny that you mention this because I just got a killer deal on an iPhone 5 and my whole intent was to just flip it and make some $$ and that is exactly what I did! Anyways, I live right next to an LTE tower too and I found that the iPhone 5 sucked at data speed tests and tethering... In fact, the iPhone just SUCKS period!! You gotta be connected to wifi just to download an app over 50mb from the app store???? WTF?? I really didn't know just how lucky us Android folks are! :good: My post is not about bashing the iPhone or anything but I just thought I would chime in cause I had the exact opposite effect of what you are posting about...
BTW: Is it just me or does the iPhone 5 suck REALLY bad?? It was actually dropping frames in some heavy games that I was playing on it... I thought that Crapple was supposed to have the superior gpu? Guess NOT! Well at least I got to play with IOS for about 24 hours before it was sold on Ebay to some poor guy that thinks it's a great phone... Okay, maybe I did post in this thread just to flame.
I have the note 2 and clean rom 4.5 installed. Using stock tetherer I experience tons of dropped data. Anyone have a link to exactly what I need for travel mod? I've tried installing and turning on hot spot and it just doesn't turn on.

Which tool do you use to measure packet loss? I use the hotspot feature all the time at the gym (mostly for web browsing) with my tablet and have not noticed any issues (I am on cleanrom 4.5). Note that when it rains the signal usually drops to 3g in this location.

XFINITY TV Go - CM11

I have been a lurker on this site for many years and am active on other sites. For some reason I just never posted on xda.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition (Verizon), running the latest CM 11 (4.4.2) from the Original Android Development section.
For some reason the Xfinity TV Go app doesn't recognize that I am on Verizon. It will not let me stream media unless I am on WiFi. It says something is wrong with the playlist and it times out. On WiFi it works as it is supposed to.
Is there any way to trick the app so that it knows I am on Verizon so I can stream media over their network? I don't really know how long this issue has been present, I just noticed this weekend on a semi road trip. I usually just hot spot my phone and watch the app on my N7, but I made the major mistake of forgetting my N7 this weekend.
Anyone ever see this issue? Know of a fix? Link? I did some googling, but nothing really came up. It was mainly people trying stream media over another network (TMO, AT&T, etc.) which doesn't allow this.
I was going to post this in the thread for CM 11, but my post count is so low I am only allow to post in Q&A for now.
you have to enable it to stream over the network within the app's settings menu.

Thanks for the reply, but I had the 'Use Cellular Data" already checked within the app.
I thought it might be specific to CM11 or ASOP in general, because there is no real AOSP phone on Verizon anymore. Anyone with a Gnex able to use this app?
Attached is the error it gives me. Google didn't help too much.

True. I wonder if it works with the Moto X then. I can check on that. My wife has the S4 on Verizon (stock rom) and it works perfectly for her. It definitely happened when I flashed CM11.
