First off me very solly if this has already been posted & yes I searched lol
Model number GT-I9100
Android version 4.0.3
Baseband version I9100XXLPS
Kernel [email protected] #3
Umm, were to start..? Ive had my phone a while & really went mad on installing things & then removing them, I rooted the phone & messed about with Titanium Backup, Uninstalling bloatware thinking it was like Win7 ( dont laugh as havent used Linux since well a long time ) & anyway ive managed to mess up the phones ability to be stable for want of a better word..
Ive tried reinstalling the apps I think has caused the problem but to no avail Ive tried using Odin 1.8.5 to reflash the ICS 4.0.3 but all my files & folders & the messed up stuff was still on the phone after it completed.. ( was under the impression like win7 that an install would format or atleast delete all original files & folders before a fresh install ) well obviously it doesnt work that way..
The files I installed are as follows..: I9100XWLP7_I9100XEULP5_XEU.rar & rooted using CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.rar
Is there a way of freshing the whole phones install... IE delete everything so I know after its done its got non of my messups left behind.. & if so can someone please verify that im using the correct files..
Ive search & search for info on this & on other things like updating my phone to a custom rom but the more links I click the more confused I get & Thank You for any info & time taken on this matter...

First of all sorry for my bad language
I've a Lg 2x (Aka Optimus Dual) temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD, now i saw an update from temasek. I'm asking how i can install the new room file as a simple update without losing any app/contact etc.
Well if it's possible what's the correct way to do an update of a custom Rom ?
Very thanks,
Sorry for the question but i've googled and nothing, also searched here but nothing
if its a update of the same build jus erase cache and dalvik cache and install the rom. then ur data remains untouched. but if the rom is different u need to full wipe. data will be lost. but u can sync contacts to gmail and retrieve back any time.

What does errase cache and dalvik cache do? Does the settings stay the same or do you have to set them again when you update? If it delets settings...can you update without errasing cache?
Nope...clearing cache and dalvik cache only wipes unimportant info...your settings will be there as long as you don't press factory reset...

exactly. but look for the requirements for the update. sometimes even updates may require data wipe if the dev states it.

All the above is good and true. I'd like to add that I always make a ROM backup with ROM Manager before I update my ROM. That way, if something should go wrong, I can get back to where I was before the update.

Dude you could just install Titanium Backup from the play store and back up all the apps and data you want to. And yeah, your device needs to be rooted. Cheers.
Story:
First a factory reset from the phone.
I have wiped all, battery stats, user files, caches and Dalvik cache, all you can wipe from Clockwork.
Then I formated everything that you can format in Clockwork.
After this I flashed original firmware (unbranded version though) from Odin.
I got rid of the problems I had except one.
Every time I reboot the phone warns that I lost connection for roaming, until I start internet.
Only I have roaming disabled in settings.
Also there was STILL files left in the phone, the folder and files accepted via bluetooth on internal sd card.
I don't know if there's anything else left but these files showed up in Gallery.
How can this be after I reset, wiped and formatted everything? Makes no sense to me.
I really have no idea what to do.
Cant find anything similar in threads to find sollutions from.
And it seems to be pointless to wipe and reformat yet another time.
Any tips at all to get me started would be really great!
You have to manually delete everything. Clockwork does not delete storage files.

I know, I meant the system reset, wipe and formats.
But even in CW there is options to format system amongst other tings, that should have done it I think?

Hmm.. no I haven't.
Samsung support thinks the 3G chip is broken? I don't know about that?
I've tried several ROMs on my Neo MT15i, rooted, unlocked bootloader, alliance kernel 1.5, firmware .587. Now I'm on Thilinac Ice cream pureness 14 sp1. Everything is working well..... but... Every time I reboot the phone I MUST clean cache and Dalvik cache via CWM recovery. If I don't do it , after booting several apps go force closing in loop and the phone is unusable. I've had this problem also with other ROMs like Jelly-Sandwich, any release. Tried also to format sdcard without benefit.
Thank you for help
Try clearing app data from settings!
Then,reboot

Unfortunely it doesn't work....
It afflicts every app I install as user, either in system /data, or in sdcard.
After installing a new Rom, on a clean system, I use titanium backup to re-install my apps.

I do this every time I install new ROM
I've formatted system, data, cache, everything. Than reinstalled the ROM (Ice cream Pureness 14 sp1).
when booted I didn't reinstall anything from Titanium and tried a reboot......... As usual, Gmail and Google playstore
went FC loop. GMail and Playstore are apps coming with the ROM .... Than I rebooted in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache and .... all run perfectly and smooth... The problem is still there.
Next time I'll try formatting all, reflash firmware .587, and than reinstall ROM.

Solved the problem formatting sdcard, reinstalling Sony firmware .587 via flashtool, wiping and formatting all .
Thanks bros for your attention and suggestions! :highfive:

Exactly. I had this problem with JellySandwich too, I tried several ROMs, but, at last, what I like more is IceCreamPureness for its balance , smothness and for very good battery life.
And how u solve this FC problem?

explained in previous post.
The problem is related to the moving of apps to sd card or in system partition. It afflicts the managment of dalvik cache

I asked about that b4 and they told me it's ok about partitioning sd card.. I was suspicious about link2sd and u confirmed that now but iam disappointing the basic reason that I root for is to move all applications on sd card

Hey ,
I would like to know if there is any way I could completely wipe my phone back to a clean slate like it was when it came from the factory, just to see if that would help fix the problem. I understand that in most recoveries, you can wipe the boot, data, system, sd, etc and I have already done all that, but is there any other things I should try formatting/wiping.
I've Motorola xt910 and i have installed so many tweakes and scripts and copied pasted many of the sh*ts on system files even on init.d folder which is really draining my battery like hell. I am unable to use my phone for more then 3 hours on normal use . Ive tried flashing so mayn times ,tried to install different rom before wiping to factory reset, tried to wipe android.secure and caches using cwm ,bootmenu manger and safestrape3 but i still get all of those craps on mah mobile . I tried everything to google out but no hopes.
So i just want to know if there any way to completely wipe everything n get it like the way it was when i bought it
If any one can help me regarding it i can donate to him too but pls help me regarding it
100x thx in advance!!!
search for the unbrick method of ur phone and that will take it to factory specs

Thx for quick replay but I've tried that too using eternity flash tool but it did not work.. All those files are still there in system and etc including init.d folder.
Could you please help me if any method to unbrick

Need few suggestions about keeping\storing the game/app data safe for later use ^^

As far i know, i wiped both Dalvik Cache and Cache without data loss.
The data you might refer is stored in Data partition (and if you wipe this, everything is lost).
Feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.
Titanium bkup mate. Saves all game data +app Great app of playstore. Change rom and restore data and all will be well.

Wiping dalvik or cache doesn't affect data
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
No but flashing a new rom will wont it. Op back up your game and data with titanium bk up before you even try and flash a new rom. Or dirty flash from rom to rom
And risk it. Dont worry about if you go to 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 or even 4.3 it will restore and work. Titanium bkup is a standard thing to have.

No it wont. Flashing a rom modifies /system. Data is in /data/data or /sdcard/Android/data
Much detail about backups in general > sticky roll-up > understanding the basics before rooting

Standard in flashing is wipe data. Dirty flashing is not recommended by any dev. Your telling me that if I do a proper install then the game/data will still be there? No chance. You can reinstall the game from playstore and your data wont be there. But if I did a dirty flash then yes if it boots up then it will be but only with a dirty flash. Thats like saying your contacts and texs will still be there
