I purchased a brand new TMO marble white version online, came in a sealed box, after opening the box and removing all the protective plastic junk I noticed some very weird discoloration on the silver frame, I don't know how to describe them they are patches of gray spots on the brushed silver frame, mostly on the top and some right above the charging port area, if you have them you'll know what I'm talking about, anybody noticed this.
if its brand new just get it replaced through warranty?

Hi i'm looking for a Black Battery Cover for my TP2...
Does Exist ???
I understand most hardware shops will sell you paint that'll do it?
...actually, jesting aside, I did that with black spray paint for a car on an old phone back: forget the phone, it was an old Nokia - but as long as you spray evenly (and for this phone perhaps cover with masking tape the speaker insert grill) you'd probably get a good result
I ordered a black battery cover by Expansys and received a standard grey one. I returned it. Be careful with Expansys and pictures that don't match the product...
Same for Me..
Expansys
And I need a grey Cover. But expansys have no cover for TP2 at this moment
I was thinking of spraying mine flat/matte white...white looks so clean. Ill paint mine a soon i can get a new back cover from ebay..
here's a solution to your problem
If it is worth the hassle to you try this:

Are the covers on the variant he uses in the video of a matte finish to begin with? I'm wondering if the gloss finish on the unbranded HTC back cover would resist the dye?

I did this on my verizon tp2 which did not have a gloss finish tho and it turned out fantastic and so easy to do. Now the plastic cam lens cover and the silver colored trim around it and the vol up/dn buttons did not turn color. Perhaps because they were kinda glossy? Not sure, but a lucky break anyway for me. Very, very pleased with the results. I used very warm water, not boiling hot and as I said...good results.
If your buttons were gloss finished and didn't take the dye, then my whole back case would probably resist it as well. About the only thing that isn't glossy on mine is the speaker grill. Too bad, I wouldn't mind losing the silver color.
black cover
Dyed my VZW cover in $2.50 dye near boiling temp then removed from heat while cover and stylus were submerged. Rinsed with cold water after 30 mins and the end result was amazing. I'll be doing it to every phone in the future as long as is has the porous back cover.

Just a thought, but you could use some pvc primer on it ahead of dyeing it. This takes the gloss slickness away. If your not familiar with it, it is what is used on pvc(plastic) pipe to make the glue stick because of the slick pipe finish. Available at hardware stores. I bought an extra cover from verizon for very cheap just in case before I tried anything. I heard some went into their various corp stores and asked for any extra covers and got them free, according to reports.
You could also try buffing with a very fine emory grit paper to remove gloss.
I bought this case for its really unique look. The picture I saw was for the black note but I knew it would look really awesome on my white note. The case is very thin hard plastic (not flexible at all even though the website states it is) with design of rain drops imbedded into the plastic, the water drops are actually raised up making the back have a strange texture and causing it to be super slippery. I was afraid to keep it on too long as I feared dropping it. It does not provide very much protection at all its more for show and scratch protection for the back, the gradient color from blue to clear makes it very nice looking. I found this one ebay but ended up buying from obostore for $7.99 with free shipping. It was shipped very fast too. I have provided pictures and link to store I bought it from. I would use it for scratch resistance only, I ended up not using it because of the above issues but it did look great! I still use my TPU case for better protection for the sides and screen of the device. There is no lip to protect the screen on this case and top and bottom sides are open. Buy it for the looks not the protection. I bought the blue one but it also available in black, yellow, pink and white. Also note that it comes with a screen protector but it is for the international version with the home button.

So i don't know where to begin, i ordered a xperia z2 the day it was announced but i was also going on a vacation with my family, so i asked sony if i would get my phone before leaving, they said no so i assumed they cancelled my preorder, anyway when i got home i decided to order it again from a retailer instead of directly from sony, when i got it i noticed that it looked well worn out, the plastic had spots and bits where the color seemed to be missing the metal frame also had very light faint spots, so i decided to ask for a refund.
This time i decided to order directly from sony, but it turns out the first one i ordered did not get cancelled so i received two xperia z2's in the mail, so i opened one of them and noticed the same problem, the plastic looked worn out so i decided to open the second one same problem there.
So i wounder is this normal? it looks like someone polished down the texture the plastic has to be completely smooth, it's missing that rough like texture a little here and there, basically causing the plastic frame to have tiny bits being smooth in the shape of small lines so to put it simple, black or dark lines at the top of the frame.
one phone even has a cut in it so it looks like someone took a needle sized knife and sawed in the plastic frame, and one has the protective plastic film on incorrectly, exposing 1 cm of the phone itself.
if i were to be entirely honest it dosn't look very new or premium with these problems, but considering i have three of them with the same problem i guess it's normal, please note they are all worn down differently lines are at random places so nothing identicle.
What plastic are you talking about? The phone is aluminum and glass.

Well, to be specific there is some plastic around the aluminum frame.
Surrounding the glass and the ports are plastic the middle band is aluminium.

Mine is textured but consistent along the entirety of the device. On both my Z2 phone and tablet. It looks exactly like the stock photos you'll find on Google Images. If you have something else, I'd take it back. Not sure how it could be worn already unless someone used it for a drop test video and then returned it. Or its a manufacturing defect.
When I went to the shop for my Z2, a freshly opened (purple) one had several little paint chips around the phone at that line (refer to picture marked by the arrow) revealing underneath's silver color. We opened a second box, though not as severe and visible as the first one, there were also very slight paint chipping off around the same area.
Is this a common issue? does your Z2 has paint chipping off at the edge where it starts to be a mat color (refer to picture)? now i'm worried with just a few weeks use might eventually chip it off considering it can already chip off when it's brand new. Don't remember having this issue with the Z1's paint even after a half year of heavy use!
It's most likely a manufacturing flaw. Not necessarily easily damaged. All phones have some tiny flaw usually. The s5 I had came with plastic molding sticking up in some spots making it looked scratched. But this phone is pretty perfect. I have one teeny tiny mark you speak of. And you can't see it unless you look for it

Anyone suffered any of the paint coming off their s9? Despite being in a Spigen Rugged Armour case abs and not dropped a tiny bit of the black paint has come off the left hand bottom corner
No issue on my device...still looks brand new
I have a similar thing happening to me my phone has always been in a case and the paint is coming off from the fingerprint sensor, I took it to ubreakifixit and they said is not covered under warranty

Same thing same phone. But it works.
Actually you have to clean the case time to time,As dust gets stuck which can scratch the paint easily
Mine has a little chipped paint around the band very small but it shows silver. Not a big deal just irritating could take back since only had five days but not worth the hassle.
