Hi,
So I've dropped my phone and cracked the screen I don't feel confidence in replacing it my self and my insurance company are offering to replace my phone for £75.
Do you think it's worth this cost or should I look at going somewhere else in the UK?

Get a couple of quotes and you will soon see that that is a pretty reasonable deal! And learn to look after your phone

Very funny, lucky I got insurance this time as I normally don't bother.
Thanks for the tip I'll go check out some quotes.

You'll find the cost to be around 200pound for a screen replacement unit since you cannot replace only the glass on the S3

more than likely yes you can buy a screen replacement. but check the price you may can just get a phone for the same price or cheaper.
Take it to a repair shop for mobiles, and they can find out if it's the screen and what not. From they they can replace it. It'll cost you though.

So for what ever reason housing was damaged or wrong color all was working fine untill the fast hands of oneself?
Gavin take appart aand refit this way your checking over all connections.
I did.. The new housing looks like original so doubt it they can see any difference

Any modifications carried out by non-Samsung authorised repair people (or anyone else for that matter) voids your warranty.
Basically you're asking a question only Samsung can answer. Soooo...You're going to have to roll the dice & send it in for warranty service & see what happens. Or have it repaired by someone other than Samsung.
Being a betting man, I'd say you'll be paying for the repairs either way.

They would have to be blind or dump not to see any difference since the original handsets have a label (battery space) with fone details on it....
But if you explain to them its better you pay Sammy to fix your fone then paying out for a brand new one...
That sticker is on the new one took it off the old one and put on the new.. Its a guinine cover

At the end of the day, you're not going to find the answer to your question by posting on here.
You're only going to find out by asking Samsung to fix your phone....Soooo....How bout you do exactly that & let us know how you go ?
Ok if they wont repair il by a new screen on ebay for 120e and do it

Wow, if nodstuff is the one saying you are being harsh you must have really crossed a line!! :silly:
Hold onto your phone very tightly speedyjay, Karma is a bugger

I the best price i have seen for a Screen without the bumper is 249 300+ with the bumper around the screen.
its not really hard to change out either. Changing just the bumper is harder than changing just the screen, especially if the other screen is cracked and you are not trying to save it.
parts are out there though.
i have dropped mine 7 times now, and plan on throwing it against the wall here in about a month and getting square trade to give me another device, or the replacement cost.

Ha ha, well stupidity is one thing I just can't tolerate, if people choose not to educate themselves and instead insist in posting stupid stuff on xda I'm forced to say something. Stupidity is a choice!
But a straight up accident of this magnitude after only 10 mins of having the phone is no laughing matter, accidents happen and in this case I feel for the guy.

I have got the answer for you, this is what you must do,
1. Buy an S3 display + digitizer from ebay:
2. Follow this video tutorial:

....

Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda premium
You can buy a replacement straight from Samsung or Ebay/Amazon and there's plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to do it yourself.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Ain't going to be cheap though as the screen is the LCD also

You can do it yourself. The guys from RepairsUniverse sell the parts and have outstanding, easy to follow videos (on YouTube) that you can follow step-by-step. At least check it out before paying someone else. They have a thread here somewhere on XDA as well

Very risky to take a part yhe digitizer from the lcd himself..
I can buy lcd+digitizer but if i can pay to a repair center,in good price - i preffer that way

Do NOT use BrokeMyCell.com. After speaking to them, they offered to try to replace my DNA digitizer, but screwed it up worse than it was. They offered to pay for me to send it to HTC at that point which I gladly accepted. Only problem, they disappeared before paying! No phone calls/emails are returned. Their Facebook page shows lots of other angry customers now too saying the same thing. They were based out of NJ. Hope that helps...
Sorry to hear that mate..
Thanks for the tip

Has anyone attempted this repair? My concern is the seperation of the digitizer from the LCD (I assume they are glued together). Any success with this part of the repair?
To repair a cracked screen what do u need to buy? Touch screen digitizer? I'm confused

Yeah, just that glass/digitizer. It will look like that front glass on the device and have a ribbon cable coming off of it.
