Hi is anyone else having this issue with RR 2.6
1) When you are in the Messaging app and you have a message open for example, if you receive a new SMS whilst the messaging app is open, you dont hear a SMS notification?
2) Also holding down the power button to bring up the power menu, i select silent mode, yet i still hear some sounds like calendar notifications etc. Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?
Ah hang on ive figured out number 2. Still have the no notification of new SMS prob though.
3) ive noticed that when charging, when it gets to 100% it doesnt say fully charged. Just keeps on charging. Anyone else had this?
Ok update:
2.6.1 seems to have resolved the motification sound when messaging app is open.
Another issue is why is the messaging apps box where you type the text only only line and there is no enter key?
I take it no one has come across the SMS notification thing then? It just doesnt make a sound when you have the messaging app open???

Happened to mine too when I was with RR v2.6 at least once a day. But now it's all gone after updating to RR v2.6.1.
Dude instead of posting and posting why don't you just edit your comment? Did you see the xda noob video?

I recently started having this problem where I keep getting 2 notifications for texts after using 2.1
I use handscent sms and turned off all notifications from the default messaging app but they both still notify me of a new text. Its annoying itll vibrate twice, ringer twice. plus I cant even get the default sms thing in the notification bar to go away unless I manually clear it. Never had this problem for the months I had this phone before the update.
Anyone come across this or know how to fix it?
(oh and I tried a search but the xda search engine is down, it's down like 50% of the time I try to use it, so please no harsh remarks about a repeat post if this is one)

Google always works.
google brought me right to this post. so at least the next guy with this problem will be able to fix it if anyone has an answer....? I cant be the first one with this stupid double notification.
seemingly, after disabling notifications, removing the messages shortcut from the homescreen does the trick, although i havn't tried this myself.
you wont loose the messaging its still in your APPS list.
just tried it and it does work

I had the problem for the longest time. I eventually found out that it was the SMS widget in Beautiful Widgets that was causing the problem, even though you hadn't activated it. Uninstall Beautiful Widgets and see if it works.

i had the same problem a while back too. and by disabling the notifications it still didn't work. what i ended up doing was clearing the SMS center number under network settings and retyping it in manually. worked like a charm

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the screen turning on when receiving an SMS? I would really like to disable this if at all possible.
not sure if it's what you're looking for but if you install sms popup (which is a fantastically simple app) it's one of the many options that you can configure ...
hope this helps ...
This didn't prevent the screen from turning on. The basic SMS app seems to still turn it on.

the way this normally works, is you install handcent which does have this option. then you go in and disable to stock messaging app completely, so that only handcent or your replacement choice controls text behavior.

What you'll notice is that even if you disable the notifications on a the standard messaging app, the app still runs in the background as it's also handling all the incoming DB writes from what I can tell. Samsung re-wrote the messaging app which always runs (and can't be removed) and in this app is the control to turn the screen on. That's why I can't figure out how to disable it without breaking SMS functionality altogether.

Thank you sir, I'll give this a go as soon as I get back to my main computer (adb/drivers/etc).
Might be a late reply, but did it work ? Trying to get an Mms.apk for Galaxy S1, that doesn't turn the screen on.
Finally!! Sprint VVM for ICS is here. This apk was ripped from the leaked Epic touch 4g ICS ROM.
I've fully tested this apk, and it's working, there's some screen tearing /redraw problems in settings menu but regardless, we now have sprint vvm.
This is what I did and worked first time. YMMV
1. Download attached Sprint VVM apk, Install like any other downloaded APK
2. Using Root explorer, go to 'data/app' folder and find the newly installed sprint vvm
3. Select the VVM app and MOVE it to your 'system/app' folder. (permissions should already match because it was installed, but make sure it matches all other apps in system/app folder) 4. Boot into Recovery, Clear 'Cache'/ 'Dalvik Cache', then 'FIX PERMISSIONS', next 'Reboot system'
5. Once booted up, open the Sprint VVM app and click on compose.
The recipient will be '[email protected]'
Record about 15-20 secs just incase, then send the message.
You should receive a notification saying that your phone is provisioned.
6. Tap to compose another message and this time send one to yourself, wait about 5 mins and and you should receive a new vvmail notification.
7. (Optional) Do a backflip and say 'fkn A right Doggy'

There still isn't an easy permanent solution for the 'Ghost vmail notification' but for now, go to manage apps, scroll to 'Phone' and press 'clear data'. * this Will have to be done after every reboot.
Another thing that I do because even if you remember to do it right away after a reboot, the icon itself may bother you so I downloaded 'ROM Toolbox' and changed the Vmail notification icon in the status bar with the dark blue one they have. I'm a little OCD sometimes so not having a vmail gray icon there really helped too. I'll show you what I mean in the screenshots
screenshot shows what I mean about the dark blue icon.
NOTE: Even if the "Ghost vmail icon" is present, if you receive a notification of an actual new Vmail, it will show as its own "new vmail notification". The ghost vmail notification and icon are independent of the Actual vmail notification process.

+1 on this, just did this to my cm9 set up and when i scroll it blurs everything.
It works for me but it is very blurry. any fix for that? also you may want to post this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514963 so more people see it.
I installed this today on Shift Deck prebeta4 ICS. It provisioned successfully, and I can send voicemails, however, it seems to have a problem playing the voicemails. I hit play and the slider doesn't move at all. No sound or anything. And then the play button turns into a pause button shortly after. For instance, if I have a 15 second voicemail, I will play it, it will do nothing for 2-3 seconds, then the pause button turns back into a play button. Anyone else having this problem? I followed the instructions closely.
This happens even if I try to play the "stock" voicemails that introduce you to Sprint's visual voicemail?
FWIW, I'm on Shift Deck prebeta4, which may have some issues, but it seems alright so far.
I have the same issue as well, the voicemail messages do not play. I am using Decks evo 4g ics pre beta 5. It also does not pick up voicemails. If I send myself one using compose within vvm I get the voicemail just fine (still won't play but I get it). But if I call my cell from the house phone and leave a message vvm is oblivious to it and shows no pending voicemails.

I have it up and running. It does blur a little but it still works good. Is there anyway to stop sprint from sending a text message every time I get a new message? VVM notifies me, so I don't need the text from sprint anymore .
Thanks in advance

Works well with AOKP Build28
OK, I tried it this morning, but everytime I click on it, it crashes my launcher and the VM. Now, in the app drawer instead of the regular icon it's a green android icon. Any ideas? I'm using the gummyworms ICS ROM.
EDIT: Got it. I just uninstalled, then used root explorer to find where the apk was downloaded, reinstalled it, and skipped all the other steps. blamo, works perfect. Took a while for the voicemails to roll in, but it's all just fine. Thanks!

If you open up the Settings in your MMS app, you can scroll down to 'Notifications' and make sure 'Vibrate' is set to always.

In Forth Bar Jellybean Fusion Beta 3.2,when i connecting wifi,T-mobile call is display and can not turn off.I try to restart but useless.
Im running a stock Note, and sometimes when I enter stock text messaging from the lockscreen my text doesnt appear when i begin talking. I have to close out the text messaging app and re-start it for it to work.
Does anyone know why, and is there a solution.

Anyone out there ever have this issue with their note?
Your OP isn't clear. You are using s-voice to dictate a reply to a text message after touching the notification icon on the lock screen? And the problem is your message isn't appearing in your conversation list?
Do you have another text messaging app with voice like "assistant" app? Maybe that app is intercepting your texts.
Negative/ What I mean is, the screen will be locked. It will light up when i get a text message. Instead of doing a regular swipe to unlock, if i select the text and swipe to directly enter the message in the stock text messaging app, when the keyboard appears, i start typing but the key presses do not register on the screen. Usually when this happens i have to close out the text messaging app by holding down the Home key and swiping away the text application. When i restart it and enter the message then i will be able to actually type.
It has happened before when not unlocking straight to the stock text app, but that's how/when it happens most times.
Ditch the lock screen?
