help me fix a bricked X10 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my friend got a x10, used it for a few days and said that it was unstable so i suggested him to upgrade from stock rom (he had 1.6)
after upgrading without the full wipe, it never worked stable again, and now we cannot turn it on at all. sometimes it turns on, shows SE logo and shuts down.
i'm a bit more comfortable with android (have a x8) so i said i'll try to fix it.
i tried updating it with PC companion, and now in progress with SEUS. strange thing SEUS said i have the recent software aboard.
this time, i tried entering recovery mode to wipe out everything, and it didnt let me in
edit: i removed the sd card and started updating. after finishing it said that installation is not succesful, and i should reload the battery and then try again.
battery was charging minimum 3 hours before this attempt and went to 14%, i will leave it till tommorow evening and then try again
edit2: when i connect it to a charger, green led flashes for a minute and then turns off, without reflashing again, so i think we have a charger problem aswell...

you can't access to recovery because it's NOT installed,
you should flash any 2.3 kernel from our Dev's Forum, install a version of GB 2.3.3 Stock, and you'll be able to root it then flash xrecovery in flashtool

No. Do You have USB debugging enabled? You could try to install xrecovery via flashtool, maybe this would work if flashing ROM doesn't

sure, i use both charger and usb cable on my x8 constantly and without problems
for pc, i use a stable win7 installation with normal auto detection on every device ever plugged in.
issue here is that when i connect the phone to usb cable to the pc, most of the times i get nothing.
when i'm in luck, i can get it to be ok for few minutes and in that occasion i flashed original rom over SEUS, and it stopped at 99%.
i cant flash recovery because when i do get it seen on the pc, i only get the flash option on flashtool

do the following steps, i doubt the driver mess in Win7 is causing issue;
When i came accross the issue it was causing by SEUS driver conflict with Flashtool driver. So first i removed everything flashtool, PC companion, Update service etc from my pc and reboot the system. Then i installed the latest flashtool version. Once the flashtool is setup go to driver folder of flashtool run driver installer and select X10ADB driver and second last flashmode driver. Reboot the system once the driver is done.
Now try plugging your device again.
What was the last status of your device? was it with LockedBL or unlocked BL?

i did that and still nothing...
when i was without drivers, pc didnt recognize the "connected device"
i immediately unplugged the phone and installed x10 drivers like you said. after that comes the restart and after restart you have the log..
assuming that drivers are ok, what else can it be?
edit: again connected and started flashtool, no point... nothing is moving

Launch flash tool and check for drivers under help tab... if drivers are not installed then browse to flash tool folder and under driver sub folder there are drivers required, you should install them.. then down load the latest firm from the forum(.ftf format)9 and flash it using flash tool. You will be in a unrooted stock firmware.. after this if you want then root and flash different kernels and ROMs ..

Listen whether your X10 is rooted/unrooted/bricked or not it will get into lash mode very easily... so try the following
1) launch flash tool
2) click on flash and select a stock gingerbread 2.3.3.ftf
3) remove your phones battery and plug the phone cable into laptop
4) now place the battery while holding down the back button and you will get into flash mode and the flash tool will flash the stock ROM...
I'm telling you because I have bricked my phone all and every way possible and i have unbricked it ever time... so try it look into some videos about unbricking..
If you are still unable and you leave in USA then send it to me I can unbrick and root it and will send you back...
PS: everything is blacked out in flash tool because phone is not rooted or drivers not being recognized... give it a shot...

PLEASE, HELP ME! What can I do?
Phone only keeps rebooting... Also in flash mode when I do nothing...
Did you unlock the bootloader before trying to flash the ROM?
I had this same issue when I tried flashing CM7 on my phone first time.
I pulled the battery out for a while, let it rest, then inserted it back in and made sure it wasn't going on and off in flash mode. After that, I reinstalled stock ROM, unlocked bootloader, installed custom kernel and custom ROM and it worked like a charm.
Something that happened a few times is that the phone won't turn on, not even enter flash mode. I'm not sure if it was a battery issue or what, but I solved it letting it charge for a few hours and then tried again.
well.same prob i had i suppose!
First of all.u have to download SEUS and update your device to go back to stock firmware+kernel.that will unbrick your device!
UNLOCKING GUIDE
1.root+recovery your device.(flashtool)
2.then go check if your device is safe to unlock.(s1tool)
3.if it's safe, go ahead and unlock it!(msm7227_semc.cmd)
4.flash ther correct rAa kernel suggested and given with the rom.(flashtool)
5.then flash your ROM on recovery mode.(before flashing make sure u select "wipe data/factory reset")
6.give it time to reboot for first time.
So I decided to go to the mobile phone service. I paid about 10 EUR.
@hiratafabio
I've never unlocked bootloader.
@+cs.tribal
Did you read my post? I wrote about reconnecting mobile phone in flashmode so Flashtool/SEUS doesn't work.
Thanks for help.

No, it was on. I check that every time I try to flash. I guess that's some sort of bug with flashtool or something
.
Before u switch from a port to a build just revert to stock using pc companion.. don't worry this won't relock ur bootloader just revert to stock, root, flash kernel n then from recovery flash the ROM.. ull hv to flash a cm9 ROM. z's ROM wont work with ferakernel ics. Ferakernel ics is cm9 based..

But the thing is, I can't flash a different kernel...does flashing kernels really depend upon the current firmware of the phone?

Sometimes the firmware changes the build.prop
This file gives the phone its model number, model name, etc. If these r changed to show something else ur PC may not find appropriate drivers for ur device. Hence revert to stock if ur using a port. Builds generally retain default model names.
revert to stock before trying to flash next. Then connect ur phone in flash mode before doing netn in flashtool. Windows will detect ur phone n install drivers. Then flash the kernel. it well definitely work
Don't forget to put the ROM zip on ur SD card before doing ne of this tho. Coz stock ROM won't boot with an ICS kernel

should I go back to THE stock rom by Sony Ericsson or is it enough if I revert to any stock-based rom like DonutHD? I have tried flashing under DonutHD, but I had an error there too...but that error read something about no drivers existing, even though I had installed the drivers from the flashtool main folder...
Preferable to go back to Sony stock firmware. At least that's what devs here say.. I don't know why..

When he turn on his phone, first the sony logo appears and then the xperia logo and then the phone turns off. It again starts with the sony logo, xperia logo and so on
I am not so familiar with sony devices..i think pressing volume down at the startup takes it to recovery mode but its not working
I tried flashing a stock firmware using flashtool..but i am always getting some error

mmmmm that happened to me before , i've installed another version of flashtool then tried again & it worked

SXP Accidentally Formatted.. only Bootloader on, adb not recognizing anymore

Hello deer XDA Devs and Members...
Bought a Sony Xperia P from a Friend for a few Bucks...
Warranty is way off, so i wanted to install another ROM on it, which worked perfectly...
Had Phantom Kernel 1.1.0 B Power Saver Edition + JB MoonBreaker 3.5 ROM installed.
Then, dont ask me why, me and a friend wanted to install another ROM and so, went to bootloader and... well... formatted everything >,<
that would not have been the problem, if we hadn't also formatted the SD Card, where the ROMs were on...
Well, however, i read though several Posts, Threads, Forums, whatever i found and tried almost anything, but it didnt work...
My Data:
On Phone:
Phantom Kernel 1.1.0 B flashed through Fastboot
System:
Win 7 x64 Ultimate on Laptop
with Android SDK,
Flashtool 0.9.10.2beta6 Bin4ry
and all drivers v1.0.2 installed from Flashtool...
What i'm actually trying to do is to connect the Phone to Android SDK to use the ADB Push Command to get my ROM back on the Phone, BUT...
no matter what i do, Device is not recognized from ADB/System when in Bootloader.
I can set it to Fastboot mode and its recognized in Fastboot
can set it to flash mode and its recognized in Flashtool..
but neither ADB nor the System itself will recognize the Phone when booted to CWM (from Phantom Kernel... 6.0.2.8)
However, i also tried to flash it via Fastboot and latest 6.2.A.1.100 ROM/FW/Kernel...
Does not work, what ever i do
Flashtool the same...
I can set to Flashmode, choose the 6.2.A.1.100.ftf File and start, but it will only prepare files and then stuck... and then, the phone reboots to not existent system... so... not working either
My last option would be to get my Phone back to ADB for Push... but how, if W dont even recognize it when i connect it?
Hope you understand what i meant
And hope you can help me somehow...
I cant get further and am out of ideas >;<
thank you very much!
-dia
Hmm, did you unlock your bootloader before all this? Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830 , here you can find the latest drivers to use with Flashtool.
Have you tried to flash another kernel? Like the Nemesis? Reinstall drivers and try flash another kernel...
/TSB
sorry, forgot to write..
yes, my phone is ulocked and yes, i can flash any kernel i want and as far as the kernel has CWM onboard i can boot it to CWM recovery..., but thats fairly all, cuz no matter which kernel i have on, it wont be recognized in system/adb >,<
and as i wrote, its not a driver problem... i have all drivers and they worked before system went lost... but as the phone is not detectable anymore, i cant do anything..
device-manager doesnt show anything when i connect the Phone in Bootloader-Mode / CWM recovery
In Fastboot, its detected as S1 Fastbood and i can use Fastboot to flash kernel, but not system
In Flashmode its detected as S1 Flash Download and i can use Flashtool... but as i wrote, flashtool doesnt work somehow
You said you updated with EMMA, have you flashed the ftf with flashtool before?
Post flashtool log.
Also, you may try to extract system.sin from the ftf (it's a zip file) and flash with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash system system.sin
I haven't tried it myself but it may work
nope, i didnt use EMMA... it tells me it cant update software cuz alteres software was found.. same as sony update service and pc companion
i used flashtool with both, the packed ftf file, where my phone just stuck and disconnected/rebooted without finishing the process or even starting the flash,
and with the extracted sin file, where the same happens...
with fastboot and system.sin, it tells me, the size would be too big to transfer and stops the process again..
this is for the 6.2.A.1.100 ROM/Kernel..
I can flash anything but the system itself
older roms lead to the same error >,<
and altered roms dont have sin archives which i could flash with fastboot...
so i still would need ADB access to my Phone to be able to push any ROM on it..
or a Stock ROM older and smaller than 6.2.A.1.100 i can flash with fastboot... but which i didnt find..
Try ICS .75
You might want to test flashing from an XP machine, my W7 and W8 PCs wouldn't keep connection when trying to flash, Flashtool would just drop connection everytime. Used an XP PC from work and presto all was good.
It's worth the try if you have access to Win XP.
Try install drivers from flashtool again. Then just open flashtool try to connect in fastboot and see ehats appear in the window.

Phone back on 6.1.1.B.75 Firmware now!
Gonna install next ROM now but this time with saved backup and not formatting anything anymore
Thank you very much!
Ok, was the wrong Firmware-Version, was 6.1.1.B.75 >,<
had an older one and tried to update it to 6.2.A.1.100 now with flashtool again...

before all of this i had problems with flashing it via flashtool and i flashed it to android 2.3 using adb commands
then i wanted to update it to android 4 using the phone's update center
and all of this happened
i can unlock or relock the boot loader by flashtool and as u can see it does recognize my phone
but fastboot is gone(the only way i could flash it before)
pls help me guys
update:
I flashed the phone using an earlier version of flashtool
still the device won't turn on!!
when i hold the power key it vibrates three times with green light!
what do i do?!
up
look like its broken. i recommend to download the .ftf files again from a trusted site. then try flash it with an older version of flashtooll. if this dont work then follow a turorial "How to unbrick xperia neo v"
(and you already have lost all your files in phone. microSd should have all the files that have before the update
