hello guys..
I've been trying for two days to get service back onto my phone... i've flashed back to stock ics and the phone worked straight away and allso more or less found my mobile network straight away ( Sim / sms / calls ) but for some reason cm9 doesnt work and cm10 installs like 4.0 not jelly bean for me? any help would be awsome....
it allso worked on miui but i prefer cyanogenmod but just cant get the network working
CM9 doesn't have working GSM on Xperia S.
What do you mean CM10 installs 4.0? It is 4.1.1 it can't install something else if you have downloaded the correct file.

Go to the devs forum, and install by the instructions there.
Did you forget the gapps addon?
You can follow my instructions, I installed it yesterday.
But notice that all your calls will go to speaker phone,
so I suggest that if you want a complete working version, wait for at least FXP131

Nope installed it and yes i know it should be 4.1.. i looked for the 7.2 and i dont see the one for the xperia s
EDIT: installed 4.1.1 but its stuck on starting apps

I tried installing CyanogenMod 7.1-cooper-KANG-RC1 in My Ace and its running perfectly..
But theres a bit problem.
I have a sim which upon inserting asks at the starting for which network to use whether 3g or normal.. And when i try running this sim in CM then it doesnt work and the phone shuts down and never turns back on even on the normal sims and I am left with the option of factory resetting frm the CWM..
I wanted to post it in the CM thread but i wasnt allowed to so i posted it here..
I am sorry if it doesnt belong here tell me and i will correct it..
And Please Help me with this problem as I want to Run the CM in my Ace..

EDIT: I found the problem is for all the roms based on CM 7. Coz i tried MythICS and its working perfectly fine but when i tried any rom based on CM 7.1/2, I got the same problem. So Please Help Me.

I just unlocked my Optimus T installed Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC0 Thunderg-KANG via clockworkmod and all works as it looks. I did not test data but it looks I have some.
I currently use a German e-Plus sim card but the same works with the T-Mobile card.
Then I installed two ICS and noticed thet dont ask me for the sim code when restarting the phone and I also do not see any network.
No sim card error icon is in the notification bar.
Then I installed updated 7.2.0 RC 2 p500 signed and the same issue.
Is this baseband related?
mine is: v070-000-000-mar-23-2009
I copied back my old KANG clockworkmod back up and all works again.
So does anybody know what the reason could be?

U think baseband can be the reason? This is mainly for data not voice.
With all other mods I do not have any network voice and data at all and the mods do not ask for the SIM Pin to enter when booting.
no body has an idea what could cause the sim card issue ?

With the wrong baseband, you will not get either of the two. It looks like you are on the old baseband. You need the new baseband to get voice and data to work:

Hey guys
I did some more research on my side and as it looks the one ROM CyanogenMOD 7.2.0 Thunder KANG seems to work fine.
I never flashed the new baseband before and thus assume that I actually still run with the old baseband.
Few GB and all ICS ROMS don't work with my SIM Card and thus I think this is in deed the Baseband issue.
Out of precaution - I am in Germany right now and the old baseband works as it looks. How likely are the chances to brick the phone beyond repair doing the baseband flash to the new baseband?
ICS is cool but GB works pretty well here - the battery is good and that is what counts for me.
Any idea is this a pure hit n miss or it should mainly work but can in rare cases go totally wrong?

I recently upgraded to the most recent DLIH rom from Samfirmware and I have been using the recording fix provided by the community in a few variations to great success. Sadly however I can not get it to work on DLIH, but it works fine on DLIB, DLIB was the polish "official" release DLIH is the swedish one. But if I use the swedish one, then all I get when I try to flash the modded secphone.apk is that the signal bars turns into a big circle with a line through it meaning there is no signal and it will never even try due to secphone.apk being wrong.
So this brings me back to the question at hand, is there a recording mod that works with DLIH since I want to be able to record my calls for legal reasons and without going back to the polish Rom?

Finaly i found a mod that work in Jelly Beam XXDLIH.
The mod has been made for LI8 , come with aroma installer and you can select beteewn a lot of add to your phone. I only select call recording and 15 toogles and both works fine in my JB stockrom XXDLIH .

I am going to get red S3 next week and was planning ROMs and kernels.
I have noticed that you need to flash ICS before flashing other JB ROMs, I am no noob to android so be as technical as possible, I absorb knowledge like a sponge.
Also I read that it only applies to people who use WEP WiFi.
This is purely to satisfy my curiosity.

no i am reading pretty new stuff, like slim bean for example, it tells me to flash ics before that so i dont get wifi not working issue
Instructions do not say it must have ICS flashed first
Instructions say if you have wifi issue flash ICS but as i said that was old 2 september post .
Suggest you read the instructions posted for that rom as defined in post one .
From another JB or ICS Rom to SlimBean
Download device_x.x.zip, slim_gapps.zip.
Enter CWM, wipe data, format system ( in mounts and storage)
Flash Device_x.x.zip***, then MUST flash slim_gapps.zip (other files optional)
*** - If the flash is too quick ( < 5 seconds or so), reflash device before flashing common or other zip files

first of all ... slimrom 4.2.1 is TOP! really nice ...
but there is one thing i found on my i9300
my bluetooth connection to my bt-keyboard stays only 1 or 2 seconds till its disconnect ...
so my question: is there any other here with same problems? should i proceed like the wifi fix ( stock ics => wifi connect => reinstall ... ) ?

update: i came from slimrom 3.1 but flashed other 4.2.1 roms for testing but made superwipe before installing slimrom 4.2.1 RC1
Sorry to bring up such a silly issue.
But I never encountered any problem like this. So, pls help me out....
I have a WT19i device which being modded with various custom rom at various time.
for more than 1.5 years I didn't got into any kind of problem. and it all messed up.
Yesterday I was trying to install Super jelly bean 8.0 rom.
to do that,
1. I flashed nAa's kernel
2. Wiped whatever needed.
3. Installed rom's zip and gapps
4. Reboot my device.
Everything working well except i don't have any touch response....!
Then I re-flashed my stock 4.0.4 rom, and then everything working fine. (including touch)
Again I flashed cm10 kernel and then installed Cm10 rom
Same problem again, no touch response.....
I really want to install jelly bean rom to my device.
So, pls give me a solution.
