Theres a lot of cool ROMs floating around for the Evo 3D like the MeanROM ICS. But most of the ICS roms are built off of the VM leak and then built off of sprint; data etc settings.
Is it possible to use these roms on the Evo V? without breaking everything...

Since the hardware seems identical, I think so, but I'm not sure...
I have seen people post that there are some pretty good ones built just for VM users. Unfortunately, they are on a different site for Virgin Mobile users and the name escapes me.

I have a CDMA EVO 3D and was poking around in the GSM Dev. forums and saw they have a functional working Sense 4.0 with Android 4.0.3 for daily use, phone and data and camera all working, and was wondering what makes the GSM version so different that the CDMA version only has a test build with no data/voice/web working
There is no gsm ics ROM with camera working.

This is the thread i mentioned, it's not comepletley stable but at the end of the day it's still sutable for daily use with a lot more working features than
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513961
which barely has call and sms working
i'm just wondering how the dev process differs from both phones that no ones working together to have both types of the same phone up to speed with eachother
AOS 4.0.3 should be a top priority in my opinion, but im just impatient like that hahah, but yeah i just really hope something happens soon, this sense 4.0 looks so amazing, i really dig it

The virtuous ROM, while great, doesn't support key features for most people (camera, USB connection, wi-fi tethering etc), but is pretty stable if you don't need that. As for working together that would be nice, cdma users have some very nice roms that will never see the light of day on gsm (this include meanrom and Android Revolution HD).

"TOP PRIORITY" really. I am not trying to be a **** but that statement makes it sound like you feel you are entitled to a completely working ICS rom.

i didn't mean it like that, i mean there is still a lot the developers can do with gingerbread and are doing, the work they have done so far is damn near amazing, i didn't mean to make it seem as if it's all for not, i just really like what htc has done sense in 4.0, more than this, and i'm not just sitting around waiting for them to do all the work so i can reap the benifits, i've been looking into cooking roms and at the dev work that's been going into the ICS roms so i can try and do my own part on this, i would love to contribute to the progression of ICS and Sense 4.0, so again, i'm sorry if i came off kinda douchbaggish
Hi,
For a while life got in the way and I haven't been able to keep up with the Rom development for GSM. But I finally have some free time and there are a fair few of ICS roms.
Simple question which one do you use and why?
Also do you have to flash the new firmware? I read somewhere it causes issues and you can't revert back.

I'm using sense 3.6 test keys 3.0.5 by mdeejay. It's not very fast but It's stable and everything works. Also battery is quiet satisfying. And aye you'll have to flash the newer firmware if you want it to work properly.

In my opinion most ROMe are more or less the same. I use Virtuous Shooter, which runs nicely, bugless and has no bloatware.
Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead...
If you like Sense 3.6, there are a bunch of ROMs with 3.6 in GSM Development section.
If you like Sense 4.0, there are a few ROMs, but without 3D functions.
If you like ICS stock/AOSP look try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507616
Personally I'm using Senseless ROM from VladBelsky, because I like AOSP look, but it's on you.. All of them are great ROMs, you just have to choose the right one for you
Hey guys, I'm from the MyTouch 4G thread, and I'm here asking a question for my friend who has a Sprint EVO 3D. I'd like to move him towards a more stock Android ROM instead of Sense since his battery isn't even lasting the whole day. He was impressed with Synthetic's ROM for the MyTouch when he used my phone and how it wasn't lagging at all. So is there any ROMs for ICS or hell even Jelly Bean with everything working?
The ROM is based off of existz AOSPX.

I'm running this Rom. Everything works except 3d camera. No AOSP ROMs for CDMA have 3d working. Don't download the one in the op, there are newer ones referenced in the thread.

Good looking out! I'll ask if he can go without the 3D camera, (chances are he will). I'll give that a try.
I just converted my Sprint EVO 3D to VM. It is still in Sprint stock rom. I'm wondering are Sprint ROM and VM ROm basically the same? Is there any custom made ROM for VM users? Besides, I know that VM has issued its fixed for the radio. Is that fixed already included in the custom rom(s) or do I need to apply it? if yes, and guide for that?
I don't need fancy feature, stable and smooth is my prority. Any recommendation?
Thank you.
XDA has no Evo V 4G specific forums. The custom ROM's that are specifically designed for the Evo V 4G can be found on this forum. There is also feedback there from Evo V users that have installed ROM's built for the Evo 3D on their phones.

Is the Evo V 4G the same as the HTV evo 3D?
Could I flash a Evo V 4G rom onto my HTC evo 3D?
Same hardware, just different software......but not by much.

Firmware and radio are low level programming not touched by the rom. As far as custom roms go configured to work on VM, the next updates to both d3rp rom and inbREDed will include in the aroma installer an option to add the apn's for Virgin Mobile users, so 3g, MMS etc should work. (The installer's already been configured and works properly, but I haven't finished the update for anyone to test yet).
How does rooting/getting custom firmware on the V work?
I went to the store to buy a no-contract phone today, and ended up going with the Evo V. It seemed like an in-freakin-credible deal. 139$ for a 4G phone with a dual core processor? Yes puh-leeze.
Anyways, so I've had an HTC before (hero), which I rooted/firmwared up and loved it, but I can't find a specific forum for the Evo V.
I know it's identical to the Evo 3D except it has 4G capabilities + launched with different software, so what rooting guide/firmwares can I install? Do ANY that work for the 3D work for the V?
Thanks in advance.
EVO V is 3D for Virgin Mobile. I've had both and hardware is identical. Software settings slightly different. For root follow Ramjet's guide at the top of this very section. Lot of the people in EVO 3D section have EVO V now. An easy beginning step is to root with HTC method, use 4 ext recovery and flash Midnight Rom. It's configured for Virgin. Then move to S-off if you want. Or straight to it depending on your skill level. It will allow you to flash Jelly Bean ROMS.

You can root and optionally get S-OFF for an Evo V 4G with this guide.

Thanks for the heads up. I got my phone S-OFF'd pretty easy!
Now I'm wondering, what's the current state of JellyBean roms. I hear that 4.2 will have group MMS messaging that plays nice with iPhones, which I would love.
Are there any working Evo 3D 4.2 ROMs?
If not, what's a ROM that's totally working, stable, and very fast. I'm not worried about bells and whistles.

You could try dastin's CM 10.1 (Wild For The Night) or Evervolv, both of which are 4.2.1 ROM's and very stable.
If you would like more advice about ROM's we have a thread here for that.
