Good morning guys. I'm having trouble with my Samsung galaxy SGH-I777. Every time I open an app that uses he camera (ie camera, barcode scanner, flashlight, camera) he flash goes off then it just reboots he phone. I've already done a factory restore. I even went into recovery mode and wipe cache and did a restore from there. I've also just downloaded the new ICS update and it still didn't fix the problem. Please help
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
when you say factory restore does that mean you completely wiped the phone and flashed back to stock rom. If not, that's what I would do to determine if we're looking at a hardware or software issue.
No I didn't flash it back to stock. How would I even do that?

OK I flashed a new rom but it didn't work. Flashed back to ics still doesn't work

I would flash back to stock. If it still does it, bring it in to at&t service center and show them. They can give you a replacement. Or you can call them. Just make sure your on non rooted stock firmware.
a full wipe and reflash is required before posting any problems. because99 % of the time it's user error. Did you fully wipe system, cache, data, and run the kernel cleaning scriptbefore posting this issue?

Yes. I did a full wipe and restore. Installed a new rom and still nothing can I maybe install a new camera apk?

IF this is happening across roms, and assuming correct firmware, with a clean install (factory reset, no misc apps installed) then I'd say you have a hardware problem. If you've flashed incorrect firmware then a reset won't help you until you flash back to the correct firmware. Of course all of this moot if its physical damage caused by dropping the phone or maybe water damage. If you're completely stock and haven't subjected the phone to any physical abuse, then return the phone for a new one.

Hello,
First and foremost, I'm loving this rom. I'm a noob and getting my hands dirty figuring all this out.
Now with that said:
When I try to connect to my wifi network it keeps saying authentication error occurred. I have tried everything and the only thing that fixes it is restoring my backup to my stock rom.
Please help!!!!

I will say 90% of the people in here will say it is not the rom. just because theres seems to work. and i tend to agree. what have you tried to fix it? besides going back (to Stock). i have not had any issues with WiFi on Serephim yet, so i can not say what a fix would be. maybe wipe your cache's. when i had that issue on GB i had to reinstall the kernel and boom it worked. but seeing as though we do not have one yet for ICS. i would say wipe and worst case reinstall the from after a very Thurough Wiping Process.

Then if your into flashing right now, just try either the superwipe.
Or this is how i wipe.
I factory default/format usb from inside the rom.
I wipe factory/data from cwm
i wipe cache partition from cwm
i wipe delvik from cwm
then i flash "Rom" and reboot.
this leaves nothing from previous roms and or Gingerbreak roms.
try that and see if it works. if not then i am out of ideas until a kernel source is released.
Ok i will try that and see if it works...
Thank you!!!

Data delete as in factory reset. .everything on your internal memory..but it is a "if"..I am not saying it will happen for sure..and boot loops due to conflicts between your current system files and the files you will flash. .

Yep it doesn't. two days ago I flashed back and was wondering why my device status was still modified despite resetting the flash counter. Turned out I had to restore to factory defaults.
I brought my galaxy note from ebay. came woith ginger bread and older cwm. Flashed it latest CWM with Black star first. It was heavily unstable the screen would take 5 minutes to even startup an app. tird Liquid rom, same results. The jedi rom same results. Tried cm-10 got the dreaded status 7 error. Flashed TWRP with same results. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong
1 wipe dalvik, cache, system
2. flashed rom
wipe dalvik, fix permissions
with no avail. Can someone please help
Try flashing back to stock ICS with Odin. Then root and do all necessary steps. After you do all that DL the ROM you want and wipe data, cache, wipe system and dalvick cache. Now flash the ROM. Reboot phone, let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Try that and see if it helps.

Just finished trying that. flashed the stock back in but now the stock has also gone unstable. even small things like accessing the settings menu causes a reboot. Almost turning into a nightmare. Thanks for your help
Are you using correct technique? A factory reset the wiping all caches? What baseband is in the About Phone?
The fastest way to recover is to use Kies firmware and initialization to clean it up.
I read through many threads and followed the technique described there in but seems like when I flashed the black star rom something messed up. I am unsure what. Is there any way to get the phone to the default state? Thanks in advance for all your help with this nightmare

Yes, that is a t-mobile modem. If you are at&t you want the LF6 modem.
Kies emergency firmware recovery will restock your phone.
Thanks to all for your help.
Whoa.....finally nightmare ended. I used the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731654worked like a charm and got back my phone.
Even though I have the ATT baseband LF6 Tmo calling sill works fine

I had the same problem but the AT&T guy had me call the AT&T support line and they sent a replacement without even asking me to do troubleshooting.
I have an AT&T i717 running ics stock rom. I installed cwm 5.0. something and was intending on installing the CM10 JellyBean rom from paranoid. It would not install from sd card. tried another rom from diff developer, same thing. I read that I needed an updated cwm so I tried to flash another, wouldnt work with the version of ODIN i had so i upgraded to v3.07, was able to flash another and then when I went to recovery it stayed in a black screen, reflashed the older version of cwm and now when I go to recovery it will show the main screen, but if I try to install or even reboot it takes the menu away and shows the symbol in the center. Am I just completely stupid? Have I missed something?

Figured it out. Cleared both cache and delvik Cache and did a factory reset. worked like a charm. thanks for the help and I hope this helps others as well.
Just for future reference, also wiping system along with wiping cache/dalvik and factory reset is good practice. Sometimes not wiping system can cause some issues.

I have a note 2 that I kept stock for a long time. And decided to root it about a week ago. I used the latest casual one click root. And it seemed all dandy initially until i went between a few different roms and it decided it wanted to shut off randomly and not boot back up past the note 2 screen on its own. But the odd part was it booted while connected to the wall or to the computer. So I flashed to 4.1.2 stock via odin and the issue still remains. I can only use it fine on charger. Is there something else im missing on flashing back to stock?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
Hmm when you installed 4.3 did you do so wiping everything could be an app causing the problem. Try it from brand new with no apps installed and see if that helps. Could be also a radio issue as well.

Yeah I wiped everything. Actually used odin twice to revert to stock 4.1.2. I tried a few cm nightlies before it began. Is there anything else I should flash on top of whats already been done?

I've found that even after using ODIN to go back to stock 4.1.2, that there's still leftover data on the phone from custom ROM's. I've read where others had the same issue. I don't know why Odin doesn't seem to fully wipe everything ... but this has been my personal experience.
The way I've fixed this (and all this may not be necessary).. . is that after Odin'ing back to stock 4.1.2, I boot into stock recovery, then do a full factory reset and wipe cache. Then I booted into the stock Rom and used the bypass setup trick (touch the left side of the screen right above Emergency... then right side, then left, then right again, and then volume up... this should bypass setup to save time).
Then went into phone's settings and performed a factory reset from within the stock Rom too...
Finally... (because I'm a bit OCD... so this is probably not necessary), but I ODIN'd back to stock 4.1.2 one more time and then proceeded with using CASUAL again to root /unlock the bootloader).
I know this is a pain in the butt... but this has worked for me. Maybe others will have some better suggestions.
(Edit : Forgot to mention that if you're not wanting to return to stock to start over again... check out this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53624921) on how to flash a stock recovery for the purposes of doing a proper data wipe... then can you odin your custom recovery back to the device without having to fully restore to stock... this can be a real time saver. Please make sure to thank the OP for the helpful info).
So in the end I tried to reset from stock recovery and wipe cache. Than do a reset from the settings and the issue presisted. But now I have root and recovery as well. So I may give a rom a try.

This is totally a guess, but I'm thinking that you may have a battery problem... and it's just a coincidence that these problems started happening around the same time that you rooted. You may try replacing the battery to see if that fixes things.... (you can get one pretty cheap off ebay or Amazon).
Yeah thats odd. I had bought another battery from a phone store I use to work at and have no issues now, back on 4.1.1 rooted.
