Hey everyone,
I was wondering if trickdroid works on my htc evo 4g lte. If so, is there any thread or site where i can get a step by step process on rooting a phone and installing this rom? I have been using android devices for over 2 years now but I never tried to modify anything on them. I'm a total noob when it comes to this and any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You can't flash a rom that is made for a different phone. My advice is to go into the dev section and read everything on rooting, then read it all again, then again, ask us questions (just don't post new threads in the dev section). No question is dumb, we are here to help as much as possible.

thanks. ill check the dev section. I know the rom is made for the htc one S so i figured that since the evo and one S are very close, the rom could work for it. :good:

How do I achieve s-off? Can I revese HTC unlock method? Is there a thread or answer available? I'm not a complete noob at rooting but got excited and didn't read thoroughly before committing to the HTC process. Started sifting through threads and haven't discovered an answer yet... Please help
I've been trying to sift through them as well just out of curiosity. Here is what I have gleaned from all of the threads on this subject:
1) Unless you previously had s-off through revolutionary, the HTC method will not give you or currently allow you to get s-off
2) Although the HTC method does unlock the boot loader, other things are still locked preventing you from flashing a custom recovery.
3) Currently there is no way to root or get super user access once you've applied the HTC method
4) Currently there is no way to undo the HTC method.
Probably not what you wanted to hear but that is my understanding as it is currently. That doesn't mean that a Dev won't figure out how to allow you to do those things in the next few days or weeks. You'll just have to keep checking.
Thank you, maybe ill just "lose" my phone and get it replaced
I would wait a week or so. Someone will probably figure it out.
Try this thread. Apparently this version of CWM recovery will work with the 1.50 hboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225812
I think if you search other threads you'll see that it only works if you have previously had s-off.

Wow...fraud...people like you are why we pay so damn much for insurance/phones.
Looks like you can install recovery and Roms. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225974

There you go! That didn't take long at all. Now you don't have to "lose" your phone.
thank you
I really appreciate the info... I'll check it out tonight and let you all know how it goes. This is my absolute favorite forum bar none. By the way, I was being facetious when I made the statement about "losing" my phone... laugh every once in a while! I did when I basically noobed my own phone.
Hey guys im looking to get help and a tutorial on how to root the 4g lte on 2.13? I've searched online but still haven't found an answer to my question. So if you are reading this let me know how to root it thanks.
Your only option is to use the htcdev.com method. You cannot get s-off though.

Go to htcdev.com and follow the instructions. It's really easy. And there are plenty of tutorials in the development section - stickies.

I rooted with regaws awesome automatic rooter found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26955832
It worked flawlessly. Not sure if it still works after the update but it's definitely worth a shot.

You've already been given a couple links with step-by-step guides.
I suggest reading this guide first to help you understand the terminology better: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869377
Then if you have any specific questions please let us know. Saying simply that "you still don't know what to do" after being given a couple of direct links to guides will get you nowhere.

Unlocking your bootloader using HTCDev Unlock will allow you to flash a custom recovery. With a custom recovery, obtaining root is easy (plenty of flashable ZIPs for this). This has nothing to do with your version of HBOOT (or firmware or OTA version).
Read the guide I linked to above and it will answer these questions...

its installed on every rom.. so basiclly im only rooted because of the roms i run.. i quess im good..
I am also on the same page, i have S off, and it says tamepered on my bootloader screen, but I am not able to gain root access...all methods that I have used including Zedomax and Raw method dont seem to work... anyone? I have read through each link provided on here but the all say for software 1.22, and not 2.13... please help
I just recently moved from the OG EVO (RIP) and just got a EVO 4G LTE. I think I got it rooted since this is what comes up in the bootloader screen:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
JEWEL PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.15.0000
RADIO-1.05.11.0606
OpenDSP-v25.1.0.32.0405
eMMC-boot
So, I'm looking for a stock sense ROM that has ALL bloatware removed, if possible. Or anyting you guys can recommend.
PS I have no idea how to use TWRP recovery.
Thanks to people that repond

I recommend spending a few minutes to look around. You will find all of the answers to all of your questions. Everything you need is a few clicks away. The only way you'll find the ROM that suites YOU is by flashing different ROM's, reading up on what those ROM's are about, and sticking with the ROM that YOU like the most. It looks like your Radio might be outdated too. You'll definitely want to update that. There's pinned threads that have everything you need to do so. But where you stand right now you can flash whatever ROM you'd like.
MY favorite ROM's: Sense 5 Port (WIP/Work In Progress), MeanBean (Sense 4+), CM10.1 (AOSP), and Carbon (AOSP).
TWRP is very user-friendly and easy to use. All you need to do before flashing is Wipe [Cache - Cache/Delvik - Data - System] or (Cache, Cache/Delvik, Factory Reset, System) depending on which version you are on. IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO PREFORM A BACKUP PRIOR TO WIPING AND FLASHING.
Don't forget to check the many resources that have been posted to help users in attempts to minimize posts like these. Don't be discouraged. We're all here to help. But by all means PLEASE USE THE RESOURCES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN PROVIDED. Contributors have spent a lot of time putting those threads together to answer questions like yours.
Enjoy.

Look around. Do your searches. Gain some knowledge. Broaden your horizon. By the way, this topic should've been placed where the forum for questions, troubleshooting, etc... Is Can't always get everything handed to you. Search first, ask questions last.

Latest radios are abysmal. Try to stick with older radios whenever possible. Latest radio updates have totally jacked my data, and I know better, I usually never update radios.

OP read the dev forum threads and find one that suits your needs. Try many out if need be.... But we don't have threads like this as they tend to turn into X rom is better then Y rom and a petty pissing contest...

I have solved my problem by stock rom
thanks dear you realy help me by GB stock rom.
I installed the CyanogenMod development preview ROM a while back, and, as I've learned, that was a BIG mistake. How would I return my AT&T HTC One M8 to stock settings?
Keep in mind that the only reason I was actually able to put CyanogenMod on my phone was many YouTube videos. Please try to explain things to me like I am a baby. Thank you!
I don't mean to be rude but this question has been answered many..many times in this forum. But here goes one last time.
Simply follow the directions in this thread. It's a self contained file that will wip your phone and return it to as about complete stock as you can get. read through the questions in the post and I'm sure any questions you have will be answered.

Keep in Mind that the RUU you linked to has AT&T 4.4.3, which was taken down because of the issue of Battery Life and Bugs.
If OP doesn't mind a stock 4.4.3 just remember to wipe just in case.
Most reports of battery drain were from taking the ota,not the ruu....
