Hi!
I have one question. It's possible to enable only the menu, back and search onscreen buttons keeping the physical home button working as home and multitasking, and also disable the capacitive buttons completly?
If it is possible, please tell me. Thanks in advance and sorry for my english. BTW, I'm on CM9.

Anyone manage to enable the on screen navigation button on s3 yet? tried the old method to set the enable navigation button value in the framework-res.apk like what we did on s2 but it didn't work.
trying to get the navigation button for my wife as the home button is not very comfortable to press and we are worry about the durability of the home button. besides, it would be a lot more convenient to have the recent app button for multitasking. holding the home button to bring up the recent task takes too much time.
Appreciate if anyone can help. thanks.
If you got root try this great application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hoopajoo.android.SoftKeys&hl=en

Hi thanks for the information, it helps. we will be using the app now until someone figures out how to enable the navigation buttons. the only downside with the app now is that it doesn't have a recent task button as well, but at least the home button is there.
Dear Developers,
I got a quick question:
is it possible to change the function of the menu button to the muti tasking function instead?
if so is it possible to be a APK file format and installation for it to work on a stock phone?
if no, then i guess it has to be rooted? if thats the case, does that mean most applications will lose the menu button? cant be the same as the Nexus phone where all applications has a on screen menu button?
OR just do a swap between the two functions? holding down the home key gives the menu function whereas the menu function gives the muti tasking function.
thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
E
It's possible, but I don't know how the menu button will show up then, and having that ugly HTC-esque navbar with one button is not the way it should be...
sorry, it i just me or anyone else finds the menu button pretty useless.
holding down the home button to bring the multi tasking up is too slow in my opinion.
would be great if someone can just switch the two functions of menu and multi.
thanks tho

I dont find is useless.
What i find useless is you can get the same menu just by pressing on your homescreens or longpress there, so 3 ways to get that menu up.
On the matter on what button brings up the task manager, i really dont care. After a few days i got used to it being behind the home button.
I'm trying to make my L9 like a cool stuff :good: :good: but if I use home key (actually its so hard to press) it will decrease that.
So can anyone tell me how to deactivated haptic keys and menu button on L9? In my opinion soft keys on screen in L9 is much better than because it has big screen.
Hi Guys
I broke the capacitive buttons on my S3. Looking for the best software solution. Ideally a button remapper where I can assign the back button to the power button for back.Long press for power. Or even use the middle button long and short presses etc.
Many Thanks

You'll need root to remap I would expect.
You could also enable the NavBar:

A simpler solution could be lmt launcher...which needs root access...or pie control from the play store...both apps use on screen buttons rather than capacitive
navbar is the best solution
Thanks Guys, Was really hopping for a button remap option but thanks any way. Il try those options.
Cheers
Hi,
A while back I bought a neat little toy from Singapore. It's a dual core 2,5 inch Android phone.
There's just one thing that bothers me. The "alt+tab" physical button actually acts as the menu button.
I've looked around a bit and been trying to figure something out but so far I'm stuck.
The phone is ready rooted and is up to date on that front, I just need some help editing one of the files in /system/media/keylayout, I think.
Here's a picture if there's any doubt on which button I mean. It's the button to the left: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0uo8er3nb5reocm/IMG_20150711_175617.jpg?dl=0
If I do succeed in changing the action on this button will the apps automaticly add the onscreen menu button? Or is there a way to make long-press the now remapped button to have another action so I don't lose the ability to get menu dropdowns?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
No one?
