Picture Orientation - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Im having a bit of an issue with picture orientation. The phone takes pictures in landscape-only and tags them with the orientation they should face. Thats great and all while the pic remains on the phone. But when I email it to myself and download it, the computer doesnt recognize that tag. Computer is running Windows 7.
This has become an issue for me in regards to work as my work requires me to take pictures & submit them via email.
Any & All help greatly appreciated. The solution can (preferably) be phone based or computer based & needs to be more or less automated (ie: not something like "rotate the pictures in windows pic viewer").

ohmigod! My Mobiler!

I'm not the sqealy type. People who squeal in airports really annoy me. But this just about got me:

I thought it needed some extra attention. I'm wondering if including a "recommended PC installs" (freeware) part of a ROM posting would be appropriate. ????
(If Sprite Backup is included in the ROM, but sets itself apart from other software like it by its PC functionality....) Just an idea.
Download this now if you haven't!
http://www.mtux.com/
I'm using it on daily basis since someon published the program on todopocketpc.com
Works great, far better than the one from Microsoft. The Cut&Paste option is very useful to me.
Old version reviewed http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/popup/dataconnect-comp-table.jsp#pda
Alternative and comparison reviewed http://www.modaco.com/content/Pocke...E-4-another-great-PDA-controller-alternative/
now this would be a very useful bit of software to turn my phone into an ip webcam if you could see the display when you are in camera mode, but it gives me the camera options round the edge, but just a black screen where the camera picture should be ?
Does it work on anyone else's computer ?

access IP camera (Gadspot) from HTC Hermes

I have a Gadspot N1250 IP camera which is directly connected to my local network.
My HTC is also connected to the same network which means there is no firewall between 2 devices.
I am trying to access the camera's video stream through my HTC Hermes.
I can access the administration web page of the camera with URL :
http://192.168.254.25
I can login through that page but the camera view does not show up.
On PC, after logging in I can see the Video stream with an ActiveX component which is directly installed to my IE over the cam's web page.
I can also reach the IP cam video stream using VLC player with a URL like:
rtsp://192.168.254.25:554/video.mp4
But neither with Pocket IE , nor with Pocket Media Player I couldn't reach following urls:
rtsp://192.168.254.25:554/video.mp4
http://192.168.254.25
I am looking for any solution (new software, URL) to reach the IP cam.
Can anyone advise me what to do ?
Thanks.
It also works through Windows Media Player with URL:
rtsp://192.168.254.25:554/video.3gp
But I still could not find a URL for WM6.
Any guess ?
Hi!
I have a N1250 wireless IP Camera, however after installing it, I have a black screen when running it with IE6 (Win XP ScePK2) and typing the Cam IP address on the address bar.
I allowed/enabled all the active x scripts on Tools/Options IE, but it is still a very nice black screen!!. I'm using a wireless router Linksys.
As a note the active x that came with the cd was already installed.
I tried FireFox and Netscape, but they seem to be worse: there is no camera screen at all! all the page is white.
So what to do next??
Anyone has an idea??
do you see it on PC ?
I mean where is the blank scren problem ?
On PC or on HTC ?
HTC Video Ip cameras
Mrmrmrmr,
Had the same issue a while years back. We internally needed to see different cameras , behind firewalls , multiple locations, password protected, corporate VPN's, PTZ etc. So we built it into a product that did more than just cameras, but it was for internal use only.
We have finally recieved the ok to release the camera only version. The geeks in this group get to help this community out.
This release will always have a free IP camera input. One to see your favorite petcam, your childs daycare center, your favorite beach cam, your home/office security IP cam etc.

Please let us know if this helps. Also which phones you had good success with or tested it with.
Thx
Thanks; I will try this asap.
Hi L4z3r,
I'e tried your software but it seems that it does not have support for my camera.
I use a Gadspot N1250 which supports mjpeg but I couldn't connect to the camera neither by http://192.168.254.25 nor http://192.168.254.25/index2.htm
I also tried rtsp link to the cam but nothing happened.
interestingly, the software does not pop up any error messages.
Just nothing.

The URL needs to be the full URL to the image location itself and not the page that it appears on, sorry for any confusion. The README should contain the appropriate steps, but basically go to the page on your computer where the JPG or MJPEG stream is viewable, right click the image and select properties. This should bring up a information box with the full url of the image (should in .jpg, .mjpg, or something similar; although I have seen it as a .cgi but I had to view the page source to find that one, .cgi usually lets you pass parameters such as video size you want it). But if it's not a Axis or Panasonic, you will need to enter the full URL of the image location, select "Other" for camera manufacture, and make sure it's the appropriate stream type (MJPEG is handled differently than JPEG). If it is an Axis or Panasonic, please do not enter the image location, just do the IP or DNS name (192.168.0.100 or yourdnsname.com:8080 (this is how you do a camera who is set up on a different port than the standard 80)).
I have seen a problem with larger images, like ones that are ~640x480 or larger. rollins2, if you could let me know what type of camera you are using, I can try to help more. Plus if we see a lot of demand for a type of camera, we may be able to add support for it.
Hope this helps, and please do read the README, it has some helpful tips on getting started with the app.
In case anyone is still interested, I also have a gadspot camera N1250 and was trying to figure out running it on my cell phone for years. I had a second kid born this week and put up the camera in his room and finally was able to stream it and view still images from my nokia phone. The still images are ran with the standard phone web browser. However, the streaming is running via realplayer that was included with the phone, using your method similar to rtsp://192.168.254.25:554/video.3gp.
I think any phone with a realplayer will be able to play the streaming video since it usually works with windows.
That being said, the above method does not work on Windows Media Player for some reason, however, I am fine streaming with EI.
Moved you over from rom dev to software.
Peace

[Q] Remote photo management app?

I've purchased a mid/low end tablet for my mom (important: she's not very tech savvy) and was hoping to set up the tablet to allow her to manage photos that are stored on a desktop computer. I believe the computer is running either Vista or Windows 7. It, and the tablet, would be on the same wifi.
At a minimum I would need it to be able to display the photo (not just the file name) and allow for deleting of undesired photos.
Being able to move them between folders would be great as well. Also, cropping photos would be nice, but not too important.
Again, she's not too savvy with this sort of stuff, so I'm hoping for something with a fairly simple interface where she can just scroll through photos, and delete as she goes.
The device is the Vizio 8" Tablet. It runs 2.3.

[Q] Windows + MTP Connection -> No thumbnails?

As the subjects states, it looks like there's no way to view pictures when the phone is connected to the PC in MTP mode via USB.
I understand that it is possible to achieve this in mass storage mode connection, however I don't like this as it requires a clumky procedure (Settings->USB->USB Settings->Mass Storage). I also undesrtand that mass storage mode is much faster, but when you need to sync a few pics, MTP mode could do, if it only worked the thumbnail preview....
Is this by design, or there could be a workaround?
I was so happy to find this in google because I'm having the same issue, only to find no replies lol. I'm on a Galaxy Nexus so i have no choice but to use MTP. :\ Anyone have any ideas?
(sorry for the false hope OP >.< but it's a free bump and maybe someone will see it that has an answer )
Resurrection!
Still no dice on this? Anyone? Moving pictures and videos can get cumbersome when you have Thousands of pictures with no thumbnails.
Sorry to bring a thread back form the dead - just curious about this.

I imagine the particular posters have found answers to their problems seeing as this thread
dates from 2014 but I thought it might be worthwhile answering all the same as I ran in to the same niggles when I began using this app so if anyone searching these issues subsequently may find some worth from my reply.
First of all as a far as experience and knowledge is concerned. Firstly with cars;fixing, modifying, engine management tuning, obd2, diagnostics. Basically my auto knowledge is extremely wide and extensive from approx 35 years of obsession and getting stuck in an the deep end whereas my knowledge and experience of computers and smart phone tech is on much, much shakier ground
In fact, for those of my vintage. i.e late 30s,early 40s remember when we were kids. and programmable VCRs were the height of cutting edga technology. Well I'm like the way our parents and grand parents were then. i.e pretty much baffled by it and even following the instructions it was hit and miss whether you actually managed to record that film rhat was on at 4am lol.
So for the second issue brought up by the OP it doesn't matter whether you email yourself the log file or not (I found the few times i tried it that the file wouldn't attach and when it did the problem was the same anyway) you need Microsoft Office or any other type of office suite to view the files. On the pc i have Microsoft office but had to download an app to my phone to view. csv files. Again an office suite that not only displays. csv files but puts them into a spreadsheet format is required.
As for the first issue it's preferable in every way to view the site. on a pc because on the phone display the actual box to sign into is off screen and takes a little bit of zooming out and seaching to find, the same goes after you have signed in when another box appears with a list of the logs files recorded and the tab to choose it. This is where my lack of fundamental computer/web knowledge comes in. I can't tell you why it doesn't sit nicely inti an easily accessible mobile format but it doesn't. Once you've found the first sign in box/pop up it becomes simple, annoying but simple.
As for there being nothing after signing into the webview site successfully all I can assume is either you've no log files to view which you should have if it's all been set up correctly, including choosing which PIDs to send to logfile or the pop up/window where you click on your logfiles is right off screen and has to be looked for. Of course you don't get that problem if accessed using your desktop.
