[Q] Looking for a new phone... (Advise) - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I'm interested in the HTC One X, and Sony Xperia S, I absolutely hate Sense but I love the Xperia S UI.
My question is how is the performance of the Xperia S with root optimization, etc.
I will probably end up buying this because of the price on Clove: http://www.clove.co.uk/sony-xperia-s-white
So yeah advise is appreciated.
And what looks better, White or Black?

Performance is good without any optimization. Less raw power than the OneX, but still very smooth.

Awesome

Xperia S has goodlooking, very good performance at ICS.

Don't go with the HTC One X, it has (like the iFail) problems with the antenna or something.
Although it has more developers, and is more powerful, the Xperia S is cheaper.

I have learned the hard way that the only Android device worth buying is the official Nexus device. You get stock Android and the latest updates. It's just less hassle all round IMHO. Sure, there might of been better hardware out in the 8 months since it was launched but at least you'll get an official Jelly Bean update which, if my Nexus 7 tablet is anything to go by, is simply fantastic.
So my advice is to get a Galaxy Nexus!

I think I'm going with the Xperia S, I'm familiar with Sony devices (I have an Xperia Play) so yeah I intend on buying this from Sony.

I had my XPERIA S for few months, then i sold because of battery life, lack of roms, developers etc if u compare to other phones.
Then i bought 2nd hand GALAXY S2 and NEXUS S in the same time. I ROOTed and UNLOCKED both phones, overall so disapointed and i was missing a lot XPERIA S :
- camera
- design
- speed
- HD screen
- HDMI out
- ETC
and i actually bought back my SONY XPERIA S from the same guy. Now i dont care about battery and other things just ENJOY my phone !
and at this moment i wouldn't swap it for any other phone !

I love mine, coupled with unlimited data its a great little multimedia device. Here's hoping sky support it soon!

One X has better specs overall, but we have some unique features like design, led bar, dedicated camera button. Still if you go for One X because of specs then I would say wait for S3 price to drop.

Thanks guys, I'm planning to buy a Black Xperia S soon, I don't really care about battery life anyways, as long as it lasts about 5 hours with constant use I don't care.

yep, Used your Darkforest rom until you stopped supporting it, and the kernel , So yeah I remember you more than most other developers at that section, I've had a good ride with the Xperia Play, but now I have the money spare to get a new device (£400, would need to sell my Xperia Play if I wanted to get a One X, which I don't now), Time to move on, I heard your getting an Xperia U, Have fun with it.

I'm on a team (me, nick, K900, championswimmer), and we have currently deployed recovery for STE chip devices
Were going to bring AOKP JB and some AOSP JB too
There's some great devs working on the S, all of FreeXperia team have one, and so does K900, so you'll get your fair share of ROM flashing

Love AOKP, Shall be using AOKP JB if it comes to the Xperia S (Will it be built from CM10 source or from AOSP, or whatever)
Anyway I'm not sure if you get Smart tags if you order it from clove, I really want them, but I would be prepared to pay the extra £30 from Sony to have the reassurance you will get them, some say in the reviews on Clove they never had the smart tags.

Please don't waste £30 just for some smart tags. Buy some tags that suit your use cases (stickers, keyrings, armbands etc) from somewhere like rapidnfc.com and use my free app to turn them into smart tags. Cheaper and much more useful in daily use
See my sig for the link.
Edit: Oh, an good choice on the Xperia S. In my office we have people with HTC one X, Xperia S, Xperia U, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus. Having played with all of them, ignoring price, I personally would still pick the Xperia S.

One thing I do like about the smart tags is how durable and small they are. The other keychain NFC tags I have found aren't as small and don't look as good. I got mine for free though.

Okay thanks, Will probably end up buying it for cheaper for Clove

Xperia P looks awesome, but lack of developers, etc makes me still go for an Xperia S, In terms of design and build quality I would go with the Xperia P, but that isn't a huge thing for me.

[Q] Xperia S or Xperia P?

I wonder if it is a good idea to wait for Xperia P than to buy huge Xperia S.
Used Galaxy Ace for over 7 months and now I sold it. Thought to buy an S2 but I just hate that shape. No more samsung!!!
Always wanted to get my hands on Xperia Arc but many other good phones are out there now in the market. Like HTC Sensation XE, Galaxy S2, etc. People will laugh if I buy an arc now. But still arc is taking over my mind because its cost is very low now compared to other phones.
I already have 630$ in my amazon.com account (as gift card balance), but I have to add some $ 80 to it to buy Xperia S and ship it to India.
I prefer Xperia P over Xperia S coz:
Smaller in size (just 4.5mm width difference but I think it matters)
8MP is enough for me
HD screen is not a must (540X960 pixels is fine)
I don't want a HD front Camera (I don't want a front camera at all for another one or two years).
But S is better over P because of 32GB storage, 1.5GHz. Well at least I have to say myself that P costs less.
What I want to do now is buy an arc, use it for 4 or 5 months, then sell it and buy the Xperia P. By the end of april sure P will be released. And after another 2 months its price will also be reduced much, like all sony phones does.
What say, friends? Now should I buy Xperia S or Arc?
The S supports USB OTG as well, it's in another thread
it's your money, I like the S because of the speed, camera, size, and looks.
Ultimately it's what you think about the two, the P has the looks, but the rest isn't doing it for me

IMO it will be stupid to buy a Arc now only to sell it again in a few months. But that just me. If you have S2 now you have big screen. And after my experince once you got a big screen you never go back. Same with televisions. And besides the arc has nearly the same size screen as the S. So i don't see your logic? Games and pictures and video is so much better on a high resolution big screen. And if you wait for the P alot other mobiles will be released by then, and then you can't decide again.
Your argument about front faced camera, well i don't realy undestand it. I doubt i'll ever use my front faced camera other than taking pictures of my self. So nobody says you have to use it and you barley notice it on the S.
Buy the S. It's a great phone just like the Arc was. The Arc was also the flagship and the followers was Neo, Pro and play. The Sony Xperia S is also the flagship the U and P are just limited editions followers.
Buy the flagship.

So you think the Xperia S is too big but you are thinking of an S II?
I like handsets that i can operate with 1 hand. Its the main reason i walked away from the Galaxy Nexus Prime.
I had the X10 and the Xperia S is 5-10mm taller and a couple of mm wider.
I have no problem driving this animal with 1 hand.
Sony's policy (until now it seems) was to release a flagship model 2010 was the X10, 2011 was the Arc and this year is the 'S' until August anyway. Then they released a mid and lower range handset.
I know that if i got the lesser models i would always wishing i got the flagship instead.
Just my personal feelings and obviously you do as you please.
Just don't make a decision on what you think.
Get down to a mobile phone shop and get your choices in your hands. Your choice would be at least then justified and not on guess work.

I posted some early impression of the Xperia S HERE with some pics of Xperia S against arc.
- If you had any screen bigger than 4.0, Xperia P will be small
- Dual Core 1GHz should be enough but 1.5GHz could help you with some apps later
-There are differences between the two and Xperia S tops it out. I felt in love with Xperia P aluminum unibody and the fact doesn't have flaps for USB connection but once I got the Xperia S I forgot all of those fact.
Xperia S is good built quality phone to the extends that Xperia ARC feels like a little toy in front of it. Flap doesn't bother me at all and made the whole phone experience even better (as far as look)
You could always buy the Xperia S and then sell it whenever you want.
Good luck mate,

Flaps don't bother me also, when I'm thinking about using them.
What really bothers me is that, because the Xperia S has these flaps, this probably means that the Smart Dock Acessory that's available for both Xperia P and Xperia Ion does not work or is not supposed to work on Xperia S, which is supposed to be the company's flagship...

Yeah i'm slightly confused that Sony haven't made a dock for the S either. What with Ubuntu coming to Android this would have been an awesome accessory. Come home from work, dock the phone in and fire up a full fledged OS and carry on with work on a bigger screen. Obviously we can still do this with the HDMI out and the USB but seems a missed oppertunity.
i read somewhere that xperia s would work with livedock.. which is a lot better deal considering it won't go irrelevant once u upgrade your phone..

The sola is a whole other device with the floating touch thing and not really in the same ballpark even as the S and the P.
It's got only a 5MP camera
1Ghz Dual Core
3.7"
512MB RAM
No secondary camera
Apparently from what i'm reading: No Bravia engine
It does have the Novathor u8500 chipset though?
Sola vs S specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4408&idPhone2=4369
Sola vs P specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4408&idPhone2=4436
I think it's just meant to be a sort of a flagship floating touch phone with that being the main focus.
S is the mobile at the moment.
I have ordered it already and may get it in my hands by tomorrow.
Thank you guys for the suggestions.

Hello!
What's up? *insert ceiling joke here*
I'm going to tell you a funny story.
In January, I ordered the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S but it took so long to arrive and I fell in love with the SXS, so I cancelled!
I was sure to get the SXS but then I saw the P and asked myself 'do I really need a high-end model? As long as it has 1Gb ram it's cool for me. Right?' I got no answer.
The SXP looks very appealing... Not only for the dock, but for it's built and size...and in red is just stunning
I'm getting tired of waiting...and being confuse. I really want to try android... So many cool stuff to do.
I want to hear your opinions.

Dude.. Its not at all funny. It completely makes sense.
Frankly I felt the same thing as you. Arc S is a great phone and I always wanted to get it in my hands. But when SXS and SXP were announced I felt it is worth waiting for them.
Also I felt like 'Do I really need a high-end mobile?' (just like you felt). That is why I opened this thread.
SXP is a good one but its not yet launched.
Now if you can't wait to get an android mobile and if you can afford to buy a high end mobile then it is completely worth buying an SXS. Previously I used 'Galaxy Ace' and now am having a great time after getting the SXS. The mobile is simply amazing.
Also do check 'HTC One X'. It is also a high end model and it comes with ICS. But personally I love Sony. Also One X is longer and wider compared to SXS. Hence I went for SXS.

Lol in this case it's dudette.
I checked out the HTC One X and the One S but, HTC fans please forgive, it's not as beautiful as the SXS. Sony adds that mojo that makes you fall in love. Plus, I know SenseUI is pretty and has lots of tweaks however Sony's simplicity is pure win.
I'm going to wait a bit for the P, to hear about it from people who use it daily. Then I'll decide which to buy. I have to choose wisely, I'll be with one of them for 2 years

Hey! If you are going to wait for P to launch then there is nothing big to decide. Like I said previously, if you can afford to buy a high end mobile then SXS would be ideal option to choose. If you feel like high end mobile is not necessary then surely SXP would be the one for you. The point is both are quality mobiles in their range.
Even after the launch of P you cannot get proper opinions comparing them. Both come under different range. I am sure both users will say S is good (its sony's flagship afterall, isn't it?). Like I said, it all comes down to whether you can afford for it or not.
And it would be silly if you buy the S after the release of P because you like S more. I mean the wait would be meaningless, right?
Keep reading the reviews of SXS. I am sure you are doing it now. Also what do you feel about SGSIII?
I would say that the Xperia P is the smallest brother to Xperia S.
I was also thinking about Xperia P, but I wanted a little bit bigger screen, but with bigger screen, it means bigger phone. It's not very comfy to control the Xperia S with only one hand. I'm a teenager so I don't have big man hands.
And Xperia P was not available in my country at that time, and I desperatly needed a phone, so there was no other choice then Xperia S.
But I think I get used to this big Xperia S phone. It would be even more perfect if it wasn't that tall (tricky to control the phone with only the thumb over the big area of screen).
But if I went for the Xperia P, it would be like my old Xperia X10, with 1GHz processor, 8MP and same screen size, so upgrading wouldnt be that big of a deal, so I just went for something good when I already was buying a new phone in 2012!
Good luck chosing your phone!

I have had the Xperia S for over a month now. I like the phone. Its a good android device. Doesn't have the specs of the SG3 but it definitely is a good performer. To be honest though I just got the ion a couple days ago and I am liking it better than the Xperia S in terms of screen (colors are richer and blacks are blacker) and overall smoothness.
Both have the same CPU, GPU, and ram. Me personally I would definitely get the ion or Xperia S instead of any samsung. I HATE touchwiz and every Samsung I have ever messed with just felt plasticy and cheap. But thats just personal preference.

cheers for that,i think the ion is just a usa release though,i know what your saying about samsung plastic, but i have the s2 and i like the feel of it,oh well time for hands on test
Id like the Xperia line much more than the Galaxys for a couple of reasons
- design: sorry for all Samsung fans, but Samsung fones looks always like a cheap plastic imitation of Apple Products
- sound: if never god any Smartphone thats sound so god as the Xperia line
- Display: the SXS got the best Display of all Devices
- Cam: i just say: 12 Megapixels
- The Firmware: no other Device if ever had has a Firmware that fits so great to a device.. no other Firmware brings more from the Hardwarepower to the user - and its near Pure Android
- Greenness: Sony is one of the only Manufactor that maters from our World and the Xperia phones are build of mostly recicled Sources and are also to a high persent recicable
- the price: Xperias are never so expencive like other High Devinition Devices
- the exclusivity: everybody got a Samsung or a HTC, bout just a couple of people has a Xperia
- little gimmiks: if you need them: Timescape, NFC, Play Station certification, Walkman and so one... they are not so puplic relatet than the Galaxy gimmiks... but they are high usefull for the users they needet them
- freexperia: ilke it that sony supports the freexperia project with sources and made a couple of their own gimmiks open source that the CM and xda devs can use them

Sony Xperia S - Dilemma

Hello everyone.
I'm at rly big dilemma right now. So, I'm wondering if i should buy Sony Xperia S or Galaxy Note 10.1. The most important thing is that i have to decide till 30.11 because there's an promotion in my shop. Xperia S + Euti with keyboard in one price.
The main question is that i won't make a big mistake, mainly im concerned about Sony's support for Tabs. I'm sure that Samsung won't leave Tab just like that without any updates and most of developers are now working with Galaxy i guess.
SO, do You think that Xperia S will get updates and developers will take care of that model? Because my friend with older one is very disapointed about Sony's updates, etc.
Thx for any answer and sorry if i did topic in wrong section.
The xperia tablet s is no developer darling. Far from it. Sony is extraordinary slow on updates. My local support didn't even know if jelly bean were "in the making" for the xperia. But official, international Sony has confirmed it. But considering devices like the Motorola zoom allready got jelly bean, despite being 2+ years old, Sony is really not a particulaly good OEM, when it comes to updates. About the tablet it self : really bugged. Really bad software, mediocre battery life, and filled to the brim with bloatware. Fortunately, root access has been achieved, so that can be dealt with. Design and feel of the tab is awesome, but software wise, it's close to disaster. Far from finished.. I say, put your money on a nexus 10. Same price, better specs, vanilla Android and better support from google and developers alike. Just my 2 cents.
Sent from my SGPT12 using xda app-developers app
Yes I tuner to the Xperia this tablet is not for programmers and adventurous. But the Xperia Tablet is a very very useful device - top is the display and the processing - up to now I just noticed a bug - Standby Wifi Bug ... but otherwise everything works super - I have when buying and I'm also expecting no desire to torment me with Custom Roms have more bugs that have been adapted from programmed Hobbyprogs /. Previously I had an LG V900 and the LG IPAD2 there was only one update us .. but from 3.0 to 3.1 and there was already ICS out then the device is not supported in any further a USB connection without function and not a fix. Samsung is not exactly famous for its updates only when the new series - when the unit is 2 years old it was then with updates ... Also, the Google phones and tablets not convince me ... In the end it's like with all things, there is nix perfect one must always make swab ... I already have the Xperia S phone and am very excited so I decided for the Xperia S Tablet ... and I have not regretted it or not root task of the manufacturer is to close the gaps and has the Sony made you can not even be angry ... and JB is certainly the end of January 2013

I agree with Raedek
Premium feel, awesome design and above average display. It could be a winner if not for the buggy software. I couldn't get past the random shutdowns while watching movies or in sleep mode. I've had a positive experience with the nexus 7 so I tend to agree with the suggestion to go with a Nexus 10. Good luck with your decision
Personally I wouldn't touch the Sony S v2 tablet.
I made the mistake with the first Sony Tablet S when it was heavily discounted only to learn that this tablet has very poor developer support: no ROMs and can't even do a nand backup. Updates are also non-existent.
My Sony S is pretty much junk ATM IMHO.
My advice would be to avoid and go for something that is more widely supported (i.e Xoom or Samsung tablets) by developers.
Good luck.

Totally disagree with all the comments here which seem to come from people that owned the previous tablet, but not the S2.
I don't spend my money lightly and after last years model, I wanted to be sure this was the right tabletl before I spent money on another Sony product. It wasn't the wrong choice, the Xperia Tablet S is a fantastic bit of kit, I don't have any bugs with mine (or bugs that affect me) and it wasn't purchased because of the development support.
If you want development, go with the Nexus 10, but if it's not development you want, the Xperia Tab is for you. Have had it since day 1 and love it!!!
Just my
2 cents.

Agreed. Battery life excluded. I like the device, I own it, but it can be underwhelming at times. Personally, I don't like the Nexus 10. Feels cheap and the outstanding specs, like screen resolution and contrast seem subpar comparing to the Xperia Tablet S, even though it embodies half the screen resolution. Seems silly, but that is what I see.
The xperia tablet is one of the best currently on the market. The only android tab that could outdo it in my mind right now is the nexus 10 because of the awesome display and ram...but no sd card slot so if you want lots of storage you have to pay 500.

Do you regret buying your Xperia P?

If you answered "yes", then which phone do you wish you had bought/waited and bought instead?
Honestly I've never have to mess around/repair a phone so much and still, 4 months after buying, not at all being happy with it. Mostly it's the battery life, but the software support/bugs got me wishing I had bought another phone instead. Maybe an Xperia V w/extended battery or just an HTC.
It's 70% no and 30% yes.
I really dig this design, seriously, it's gorgeous! And the build materials...LOVE IT!
However...the camera isn't as impressive as I was expecting (my Xperia Pro took pretty damn good photos and sometimes, it was even better than my XP), the dual-core processor didn't blew me away and I'm kinda worried that we won't get an update past 4.1 (which kinda sucks, since I bought the phone 3 months ago).
When I bought XP, I was considering LG L9 (which I still kinda want, save for the ugly design of course) or Galaxy Advance (which was uglier and more expensive). If I get the chance I do would trade my XP for an L9.
But still, I love Sony's UI and apps, so I really never get tired of the phone, and the design will never feel old, nor outdated for me. It can be said that I'm quite happy with the phone, but I still would like to try that L9 phone.
Also, I kinda would like to return to a Galaxy Note (1), while the design is kinda bland, I really would like to experience having a big screen with some few tweaks, besides, I can just install Sony's apps on it.
i am using an xperia sola. i dont really bother about the build design and all but having the latest software means the most to me. its not that sola cant run the latest OS but its the bad chipset with virtually no developer support. So yes 80% i regret buying it. Everytime you buy a new gadget you learn something new. So next time i buy a phone ill ensure the chipset is only from qualcomm.

A clear no

no ! waiting for JB hehe to be honest just dont like the batter 4hours screen on time with wifi, games but not so heavy , overall performance i like the XP but i want to try xperia Z
Absolutly not, it's my first Androdi Phone but when I compare it with my friends phone, I really prefer mine.
Im already satisfied with my device, but im also worried we wont have an update past 4.1,...i guess this will be the last firmware we'll receive.
Sony Xperia P LT22i
Yes and No, its a sweet phone but i'am not happy with the battery life =\ The screen is god but the reception is not as good as on my HTC One V work phone...
I have rooted it to get rid of all the crapy Sony stuff... next time I think I will buy a Nexus device
Wish I had invested Rs. 7,000 more and bought the Galaxy Nexus

+1. maybe a little more RnD on our part and we should have gone for a snapdragon powered phone.
I just didn't think!! Man I was dumb!
Yes.. Poor front camera, few custom roms (didnt release source code) .. I should get samsung s2..

No 'cause it's better than my former Atrix, it's more smother, more efficient than Moto and is so well build. Imho i will choose once again P. Of course there are better phones but also more expensive than P.

I dont know about you, but about the time I bought my Xperia U, there was no dual core CPU in the market for the price of the xperia U. I was told the battery lasted about 10 hours and as of now, I'm not disappointed with that claim. Sure, as of now, you have plenty of alternatives for a dual core with those mediatek ones even pumping out quad-core ones [which aren't as far off in benchmarks than our novathor chips].
And to be honest, the only problem I have is not having jelly bean. Then again, if we're being realistic, unless someone bought this phone purely for development [which in that case would be pretty damn dumb and they should have done more research] the phone doesn't falter back. My U satisfies whatever I throw at it at a day to basis [Regular Browser use, music, radio when on stock rom, calling and normal moderate-graphic-intensive-games] I don't see why anybody is complaining. considering the GUI is vitrtually the same as ICS save for project butter [which if you've seen on the xperia J is absolute rubbish]
Just my 2 cents.
EDIT:- Oh and like people have already said before at the price of an Xperia P you will not find the class of build quality observed on any other non-Sony device.
totally regret my xperia p, i live in Canada so i cant really get much for the device over here, plus battery sucks, and yeah kind of sick of messing with my device just so that it will work..its laggy and i should have waited for xperia z or nexus 4, which im probably gonna go get one or the other anyway....so sick of it lol
I dont regret...
I have Lumia 820 and Xperia P.
I bought the XP for 280 USD which is by far cheaper to another phones with the same specs.
Clearly i dont like the battery or the camera (is fine, not great as L820 but who cares)
+1 to that mate i have absolutely no regrets over this phone

Could have been better, could have been worse
For almost the same price o could have gotten the S2, so a little regret but not too much... it is a good phone
If nexus 4 was out I would've got that, and if I understood the limitations of Novathor might've looked elsewhere. But this is a decent phone for sure, best mid range imo

Why would you sell your Xperia Device ???

Hello,
I sold my Xperia after some time and I can tell you the Bravia Engine and little customisation from Sony is great. The feel of phone in your hand is also good. Also, the xperia U/P/Go/Sola/ other devices are very good gadgets and they have enough support from developers. The LED bar in Xperia U is truely awesome and it could change colours just made it epic. If you are go for looks and beauty, certainly these devices are for you. Performance is good usually but not good enough in some case. (the price is not too high)
What are the factors that disappoint you ?
I will tell you mine what I can think of:
*Usually no expandable memory and in some case, battery is fixed.
*Bugs in ICS with no real support from Sony on these devices
*Bad battery life although I turned off the LED bar and used it with zero brightness. Still couldnot last more than a day on average use.
*My charger started to take long time to charge and it was quicker to charge via USB cable. In the beginning the charge time was epic. Just about an hour to charge it fully.
*NO SUPPORT FROM SONY AND UPDATES COME VERY VERY LATE AND DEVICES ARE ONLY SUPPORTED FOR MONTHS.
*NOT REAL LOUD SOUND
UPDATE :
I bought another Xperia
You forgot Xperia sola
Because of ICS laggy update, no support of Sony, no jelly bean update for Sony xperia u and poor service
im currently using xperia sola for about a year. ive tried a couple other xperia phones '12 like u, p, s, j and sony didnt good that much of a work. this mid price range devices dont have great potential (using sony's stock os). that unfortunate thing is that if you want to make your devices OK you have to do lots of stuff(root unlock bl etc etc you get the idea). but most of the people dont know about xda-flashing rom etc.they just stay at gb or stock ics and complain,or choose to buy a more mainstream devices and this results to not jave that great potential from xperia mid price range device community.
Sorry for my bad english.
No, I have all my phones still
Ericsson T68m
2x Sony Ericsson T68i (one brand new in box)
2x Sony Ericsson T230
Sony Ericsson T610
Sony Ericsson T630
Sony Ericsson K510
2x Sony Ericsson W810 (Black + White)
Sony Ericsson C905
Sony Ericsson Elm (J10i2).
Did have another T230 and two K550's but lost track of them).
I hate my Xperia U, performance sucks (on stock and CM9), if I see a good deal I'll replace it, but still wouldn't sell the U.
I would sell Xperia U because of inadequate RAM and unavailability of separate recovery partition.
I'd be lucky to get anything for an Xperia P, after having this device a year I hate it, looking forward to a new phone at the end of this month, probably won't be a Sony due to my Xperia p experience

I am so regretful for having sold my xperia active. Now I have an Xperia Go, is not as powerful as I wish but it is ok. I change my rom once in a while and I am so happy with it.
I was so scared to unlock the bootloader of my X.Active and never did. I guess if I had, I still would have my old phone and never bought another one. Bricking and unbricking your phone and change roms from XDA devs is so funny that you will forget about all the new phones coming out every day.
as for myself, maybe i'd only sell my X-Sola if it's decommissioned, forced to retire, or got a rival phone in my pocket.. it's quite great actually, after tampering with it a lot of customization..
overall, i'm lucky to choose this one..

In a way I regret selling it as i didnot want to spend too much on a phone now so I bought HTC Incredible S which I changed to HTC chacha. I am not happy with both either but atleast the small screen on my HTC chacha doesnot distract me too much from playing games, reading forums, news etc. The main reason I sold it was that I couldnot concentrate much on anything really. Just me and my phone. I am not sure what will happen when I get the New nexus 7

TRUE, I just hate that they didnot update it to JB when they could. They talked about the hardware support on NovaThor but I guess they could have ported JB easily on all devices which were only few months old.

I agree. Xda is amazing. Really I have found so many helpful developers who are working on it without really getting paid. You should always be thankful to developers and those who are helping you out. Trust me, I find almost everything here. I usually do not need to programme at all to do whatever I want to do with my device. Thanks Xda

To be honest really, the devices are monsters. Many of the apps that are written wouldnot work with your device in google play, I have managed to play them really smooth. However, I have noticed that some games/apps won't work on ICS latest build but run very smoothly on GB and Custom roms. I guess ICS was complete failure in terms of its potential.

Well, ram is an issue. If Xperia U had 1 Gb ram and Sd card, this device would be epic but manufacturers always keep something to themselves so a person changes his phone often and they get more profit

I agree, I am also thinking of not going for Sony for atleast next 3 to 5 years looking at my experience. I prefer Nexus more with more freedom. HTC on the other hand is more complicated to unlock, Root, Get S off etc before you can flash roms. Plus, it is a pain to flash official Stock Rom for HTC which was much easier with Sony. So for the moment, these both companies are out of my league!

I remember rooting and unlocking my first device. I was scared and only think I had in my mind were thoughts of it getting bricked, damaged, burnt, short circuited and what not. Tell you from experience, for all the years I am doing it, I had so many bricks and every device came back to life in the end. However, I am yet to see a hardware issue!
Yeah definitely thinking of an android vanilla device, HTC comes with way to much crap and is not fun to root.

Also planning to get Xperia SP and sell of my pee only because of ST Ericsson Chipset and a big size screen..

well i think that everyone would get a better devices for a little small amount of money.for instance i bought sola for 280 euros and that price was the same month that it came on market.now xperia sola cost 160-180 tops and with 300 euros now i would get htc dezire x. which is a pretty good phone.my point is that sony is awful and maybe ill never get a sony phone again:angel:

Well, if you wait a bit more and you will get nexus 4 for around 320 Euros or less or maybe even Galaxy S3.
It is always like that. Once the technology gets older, its price drops really quickly. Just think how much Nokia E72 costs now ?
when my dad contracts end or mine i will get his s4

nexus 4 already is 320 euros.my point is that if u wait a little bit longer and still use an old device you can get a better one.and also you may get caught like me and think that the device you pick was the best casue.companies first release mid range devices and not the biggest ones..and i was a fool to believe that sola, u, p with the exeption of acro s that they where good...
you forgot to write down sola ?
To less RAM
I would sell it because the Sola has to less Ram for smooth using, and the Display is to small for me :/
