HI everyone, I've been here for some time, reading things most of the times, but now I've got a doubt, I'm hopping someone can explain to me.
My i9100 has in the Baseband version i9100BUKG1, which modem version can I flash on this baseband, I've been reading through the forums, and perhaps that information is somewhere around, but I can't seem to find it.
Suppose, I want to run CM9 or the preview of CM10 that has been release, what is the most indicated modem version for my i9100 that I should be running?
Thanks in advance to all of you.

please use the XDA search for the same or Google around my freind.
since asking 'Which rom/kernel/modem is best' is against xda rule's and u might be infracted by the moderators for the same.
and being the same for us while suggesting.
since all phones r diffr'nt san usage wise/carrier/rom/kernel etc.

I hv tried all of those and only KI4 is giving me some problem with data connection being unstable.
By far KI8 and KI3 both are stable and KI8 has slight advantage being smoother but comparatively data connection tend to hunt more often between 3G and H+.
Now I'm using BOKJ2 and data connection log-on to H+ most of the time. I'm a happy man again!

Let me try to kill your curiousity. Why do you need to know such info? Simply so you can flash the newest rom? So you can flash the most official rom? Or because you want to know which of them work the best? Well... they all work, frankly I cannot even tell the difference in speed or smoothness between any of them. You want the newest? Well do you even know what the newest has to offer? Well let me enlighten you, barely anything. So little that you cannot tell the difference other than one saying 2.3.5 or 2.3.4. Official? Well as far as I am concerned, if you are going to go try flash a rom that you cannot get from KIES, it is a leak. So why did I do this? It's like a high schooler asking how does the printf function work. For now, just don't think about it.
A simple search will find the answer you want about the naming of each Rom. Month and build.
The link you were given above will tell you exactly what you asked about which is latest and best.
Latest is different for each region via keis but intratech has posted them as they have surfaced worldwide. He says as much in that thread.
Best is always subjective.
Grab a beer/coffee, kick back and read read read.
Don't end up being one of the people who insist on being spoon Fed flashing info without doing some research and learning only to turn around and complain because something went wrong.
Everything you need to know is on xda if you look for it. Wondering why it's hard to find answers?? Because of posts from the spoonfed people clogging everything up.
Have fun flashing.

Hi.
Im having a little problem here.
If I want to flash a modem, do I have to find the same modem version as my firmware version?
As in, if my firmware version is XXKL3, do I have to find a modem which is XXKL3 so that they will be compatible or something.
Help will be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
As far as I'm aware, you can flash any sgs2 modem you like. Mine doesn't match my firmware.
Edit: in fact, there's a list of flashable modems thread around somewhere.

Can modems be flashed on any kind of kernels? CF-Root, CM7 ?
Are modems made for different regions and carriers? For example I'm in Czech Republic on O2 ? What should be best ?
Yes. Modems are independent of kernel or rom.
Some modems do tend to work best with different carriers/networks, there are two ways you can find a modem that works well with your carrier/its network:-
1) Flash a bunch of modems until you find one that works well
2) Do a Google search & append XDA to your search terms; for example, SGS2 XDA modem Czech Republic. Use your imagination with the search terms.
Having said that, if the modem you're currently using gives you good connectivity/data speeds with the rom/kernel you're using at all locations/at all times of day (to rule out any problems that could possibly be caused by congestion on your carrier's network, etc), there's no need to go changing modems.
You only need to do so if you're having those consistent problems I mentioned.
Hi,
Will ask here:
What are currently most up to date and best modems? Ok I know there is no best modem but what are current modems that are giving best results for most users and otherwise behaving good in mean of performance and battery life?
Now I have xxkl1. Any better?

its OK ma8, but if u post here in the I9100 section, then people might advice u wrongly with one's meant for I9100 and not for I9100G since they all have I9100 models with them.
thats why i directed u to that link in my earlier post, since people over there do use I9100g and they might have fair Idea about ur issue for sure
Thumb Rule is: If u post Ur issues in the right section, u will get the right answers for sure which will not put u into trouble

Hello,
First of all, thank you for the time you'll spend helping me figure this out.
I have an Samsung Galaxy S2, korean version, which only have English and Korean languages, besides all the specific things that come with it's particular ROM. It has version 4.0.4 at the moment.
What I'd like to know if it is possible for me to 'turn' it into an European version, installing a ROM 'designed' for that same model. If so, I'd appreciate if someone could guide me (or just point the right direction..) in how to do it, since I'm kinda new at the Android world. More of a iOS user until now
Any information needed about the phone, please let me know.
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Júlio

Welcome to the android world,
Have a look here, here and here. These might be useful to you.
Also use the Search option effectively. That is one powerful tool in XDA
Before you flash anything be sure of what you are doing. Good luck :good:
You may not believe it, but I've already red one or two (not sure now) of that topics, besides another good amount of pages all over the web. Anyway, I'll take a(nother) good look again at the links you posted, and let you know something when done.
Maybe they have all the information I'm looking for
Thank you for your help.

Hey,
I'm having some troubles regarding the wifi signal on my GS2. Does anyone know if this is normal?
At work, I'm only two meters away from the router, and I NEVER get full signal. Instead, while working on wifi (like adding an e-mail account), it keeps losing signal and failing.
Thank you
Cheers

the I717 is obviously the phone, but your UCLF5 or UCLA1 is your baseband or modem. many different modems will work with many different ROM's. some will work better than others. but you may want to use a modem that goes with your carrier.
the modems can flash just like you ROM.
whatever carrier you use, you didn't say, you can find all info in the "Super Everything Thread" for any questions. there is a link to everything there, even the color of shorts your wearing.
^^^Those are stock firmwares... modems and firmware match before anything's been done to the device.
Op:
The phone is an I717 it will run any firmware for...... the I717.

does that mean I was wrong in my post???
always learning and don't want to give bad advice
Not wrong...it just didn't answer the question.
I figure if I cant fully answer question, maybe I can steer them in right direction. if I cant do that, than maybe I can ask question which others such as yourself would chime in with a much more educated and solid solution.
I have followed your wisdom since the Infuse and glad to see you around here too.
The real question should have been why would you want to install an outdated ics leak when JellyBean is available and if you had to install ICS, there is I717UCLF6. But to fully answer the OP, YES.
To answer all of you guys' questions:
This phone is an AT&T phone that will be used abroad and not in the U.S. The reason I want to downgrade is because I'm looking for a Traditional Chinese ROM, and the custom ROM i found is the UCLF5.
I have one more question:
Do I have to get my current baseband to UCLF5 before I can flash that custom ROM? Or can I just flash it without changing my baseband?
Thanks
Rom only should do it
