as stated unlocking does break 4g but if you take the most recent photon update then the boot loader is locked for good from what i've read

You should ask this to the developer mike1986
This thread is pointless, except for starting flames. It is not very hard to contact mike1986, you don't need to create such a thread.

Just out of curiosity since wimax will eventually go away and LTE is taking over, and with all the development here, would it be possible to make a conversion into a rom from wimax to lte?

What? Are you asking if we can make a ROM that will make the EVO 3D on Sprint use LTE instead of WiMax?

It's not possible because LTE requires different radio hardware.

You're not going to believe this, but Sprint just release a statement regarding WiMax to LTE conversion. Evidently they will push an update to the EVO 3D that will make it able to receive LTE. Click here for the official statement.

Yeah, just asking out of curiosity, there's some genius minds so thought it might be possible. No biggie tho. Thanks Ramjet..

Why after so many months, there are still no custom roms being made for this phone? Is it because of the second screen or because no one cares enough to do one?
Because of the locked bootloader
Only tmobile variant is unlockable
Very disappointing....

That sucks. I didn't realize that. I use T-Mobile. I'm used to rooting T-Mobile phones.

Can't you use the TMO variant with some random small-dollar plan for just a couple months, pay off the phone, then take it to Verizon unlocked?

AFAIK, Verizon checks MEID from their inventory table and won't allow activation if it is not in their inventory table.

Oh wow, I didn't realize that. It's yet another phone that doesn't have all the radios in it needed for CDMA or GSM. That's too bad.

Verizon would never activate it on their network anyways, so it doesn't matter. They whitelist IMEIs.

It seems like there is a shortage of devs that purchased this phone.....disappointing to say the least.

I figured being similar to the g4 we wouldn't have issues getting a rom from a dev. I read a post from someone saying they were able to get a g4 rom to flash on the v10.

My thoughts exactly
The lack of development for this phone is the main reason I wish I didn't get this phone.
It's interesting that there isn't much development on this phone considering its one that seems to appeal to power users with Microsd support, battery removal and the secondary screen.
Well, I would think someone would have to figure out root first since the tmobile version is the only one with root so far.
People seem to be trying but it's slow going!
