Go Contacts ex Facebook Name - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there
im on Pfittech Rom atm, and trying to connect Facebook-contacts an my gmail contacts. Works fine, but everytime I link a Facebook contact with a google contact, it will show only the Facebook name (and this is in some cases very stupid)...
Is there a chance to rename this contact or at least tell the app, which the 1st contact is?

noone having an idea?

Did those Google names also changed to the Facebook names when you checked the stock contact app?

Adding birthdays to contacts

Hi there,
I have got a problem, which I don't know how to solve: I just wanted to add a birthday to a contact already saved on my Galaxy S2. So I entered the contact, clicked "edit" - but then, no field for the birthday!? Wtf?
In addition, when I open the contact, TW does not show me the birthday either (for contacts from exchange which do have a birthday added)...
So, this can't be true, can it? Where can I add and see the birthdays of my contacts?
Thanks!
Edit: It seems that I cannot add a birthday to contacts that are connected, which means, which come from my exchange server - can that be?
Because when I add a new contact and choose "Save on phone" I can add a birthday, but when I choose a new contact "Exchange" I cannot add a birthday... But my Exchange Software
can save birthdays, it did so with my HD2 on Android. Any ideas?
No idea? No one?

Yeah, but only if you created this contact on the phone. It does NOT work if you have an exchange contact.
MyPhoneexplorer worked for my birthdaydates and outlook.

That's nice. However, I wanted to add a birthday to one of my contacts when I was attending a meeting - I neither had Outlook nor MyPhoneExplorer with me. So, there should be a way to complete existing contacts, shouldn't it?
Try to add the birthdaydate via google and sync afther.

Yes, it is more than disappointing.
And no, we don't want to sync our data with google servers for good reasons. Thats why I have my own Exchange and thats what I want the Galaxy S2 to do, nothing more, nothing less.
Guys - I just try to help you out. I came from Lotus Notes and got about 240 contacts in my adressbook. I tried several ways to get them in sync via android. What worked for me was to make a simpel csv-file with all my contacts and import it into my google account. Next step i sync via my phone with my googleacc. This worked. Then I sync with exchange - and now all my fields is visible - and edible. I think - that the phone just work best and smooth with a clean new contactfile. Afther i have no problem.
All systems I have worked with during the years, often got problems when the adressbook not is native.

Thanks for trying to help. But it cannot be that you have to give all your data to Google in order to get things to work properly although you have your own exchange server.
Just delete the contacts in google afther you sync.
By the way - if you worry about security - what you do on a exchange server LOL

Glad to see its not just me, very annoying though. Samsumgs exchange active sync implementation seems to be far from perfect.
Once a week my calendar/e-mail goes rogue and starts up using alot of battery, a reboot fixes this.
I hope this contact problem gets fixed pretty soon, alot of the extra info is missing not just birthdays
I use aTAKEphONE as a dialer application, this lets you add a birthday date and gives many more options...

We can not discuss about this as I am not the decision maker in my company but of course can suggest to move away from Exchange what they won't do for 100%.
All my previous companies were running Exchange by the way and it's not a point to talk about now.
I've done now what you suggested and imported my Exchange contacts to GoogleMail, deleted and unmarked for sync all contacts and accounts on my Samsungs Galaxy S2.
Resynced now first with GoogleMail only and then added the Exchange account for sync.
I can confirm that I get the birthday field now under the contacts.
Whyever the phone only shows the GoogleMail contacts with Icon and not any other (Active Sync, Skype, Facebook SNS) contacts anymore...
I am confused why they dont show up anymore...
Ahhh now I see... as I deleted my contacts from the phone it also wiped the Exchange contacts... great
OK... it's the same... only the imported contacts from GoggleMail have the birthday field.
When I create a new contact on my phone which is by default saved Exchange then I don't get this option to add a birthday... useless...
I have just received a message from Samsung concerning this problem. They say, they cannot promise that it will be fixed.
Oh, thats very nice. Thank you, very much. Once and never again.

If you would like to add a birthday to a contact, you need to:
Select the relevant contact
Select Edit
Select “Add another field”
Select “Events”
Then add the birthday

Social Hub facebook Sync Contacts

hi everyone!
dont know if u notice.... the option for facebook contacts sync in the social hub was removed in the new Ics Rom the problem with this is that all the contacts pics are now small resolution.. so there pixalated as.. f....k
anyone knows a solution for this??
Me saw that too... and so has the inherest ability to sync fb birthdays to tw calendar also gone... Any workarounds anyone??
Yes, HaxSync paid app and works better syncs higher quality photos, events and birthdays. Worth the pennies it costs from play store.

Also noticed that it's missing, however a review on GSM arena seems to suggest it should be there?
One important change is the new Contacts app. It integrates with your SNS services and gives you a second tab for each contact's details with their photo and info grabbed from social networks.
You get to this tab by swiping sideways - a bit like you would in Windows Phone (Android has really grown into the sideways swipe thing too).

Any more? is that SURE? and... Why? Do you have any source, please?
I dont understand why Calendar and messages can be sync but contacts cant....
Is it permanent for ICS roms that are to come?
Thanks
I actually created a new thread for this not knowing that it has been asked...
Yes, I also noticed the GSMarena review and so I thought that I had a bad update. I tried to restore to factory setting and reflash the firmware update but still nada.
My current conclusion is perhaps for somewhat reason some firmware versions have the SNS contact integration and some don't...
Mine is XLP7. Would others kindly share their firmware version and situation on the SNS contact integration?

Not possible with ICS.
You can try friendcaster(free) and HaxSync (paid).

I am using ICS DXLP7. If you just upgrade from Ginger to ICS without doing data wipe or factory reset, calendar and messages were fine but Official Samsung ICS ROM (upgraded using KIES) doesn't have Facebook Contacts sync anymore.
However, if you did do the factory reset after installing ICS on you Galaxy S2 ... poor you, you will not be able to sync any of the three (Facebook contacts, messages, and calender). Must use third party app.
yeah at the end the solution is an app from the market.. theres 2 that works well but they dont sync phone numbers tho

[Q] TouchWiz contact list photos sync from Facebook

I remember from earlier Galaxy phones that I could sync my contacts photo with the photo they had on Facebook. Did they remove the feature on the S III?
Nobody even remembers this from earlier?
No the feature is still there ...u just need to manually link a few which are not automatically detected... Just click on a contact and link with Facebook account.. And then on Facebook tab click on the pic and select option use this picture for contact
It's annoying they dont have the 'get friends' option from the GS1 so i can select individual facebook contacts to add to my phone.
Rather than either syncing them all and deleting the ones i dont want or syncing with existing and it not matching some of them.
you can manually choose which friends you want to display in the contacts' settings...

I can't say that's possible. I can't find it at least, and I've tried a couple of times.

Strange GO SMS Pro for me is working fine. Its not allowing facebook photos to show up otherwise its fine for me.
I'm guessing so app's are crossing over and garbling crap up
anyone have any idea what the samsung app "facebook for syncing" is in the accounts manager vs facebook/friendcaster.
I've found that friendcaster will sync my facebook friends..but not my numbers...
and facebook app will do both..but other app's arent registering them
and as far as I can tell the samsung facebook app for syncing is just for gallery/calender...but yet I can't get calender to work, just error's out.

[Q] How can I add phone number to synced facebook contacts ?

Hello guys I just got my galaxy S5 and I'm about to freak out !!!
I synced the phone with my facebook , now I have all my facebook friends in my phone contacts but I CAN NOT edit them and add their phone number !!!
is there any one who can help me with that ?!!? I looked everywhere on the internet and I didn't find anything !
how can I edit and add phone number to my synced facebook friends in my galaxy s 5 contacts ?!?!?
The Samsung contacts app has a combine function in which u can combine the same contact from different apps, so u can use that to combine a Facebook contact with their phone no (which would be a Google/phone contact)
Just open the contact page, scroll down to connection, select add a connection
