Flash via odin - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can i flash official stock fw via odin without bricking my device?
My device has the emmc bug...
Im now on aokp ressurection

If your device has the emmc bug, it would already be bricked...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

Of course you can. The bug only bricks devices when you try to wipe cache/factory reset your device with a kernel that has MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled. But flashing stock firmware via Odin, you should be safe. If you want to be extra safe, flash Siyah Kernel first, then flash the stock firmware. Siyah Kernel can be downloaded from gokhanmoral.com (the dev's website).

Not necessarily, my phone also has the eMMC Brick Bug, but I'm clearly using it, so I believe you point is invalid. Try use Chainfire's Got Brickbug? and you shall see.

Nothing is 100% safe, but stock XWLPM ROM is safe.
Only when injecting CWM and wiping with it, may brick your phone.
I have flashed XWLPM twice, first with CF-Root v5.6 for XXLQ5, and then as Pre-Rooted version from liquidperfection.
With CF-Root I had CWM recovery, and wiped cache and Dalvik cache wihtout any issues.
So, if you only use stock recovery or permanent CWM of a "safe" kernel, then XWLPM won't brick your phone.
Thx

You could flash a kernel that can be flashed in stock recovery and includes CWM, then flash the Siyah kernel.

there are no conditions of any sort for u, either u have to use PC ODIN or Mobile Odin to flash the .tar file of Siyah kernel v4.1.5 ma8, and the same (siyah kernel) will install the CWM app for u automatically

main advantage of Siyah kernel is that it brings the latest CWM recovery for u so that u can flash any Custom Rom compatible with siyah on ur phone, which u cant do on stock kernel.
Also u can Dual boot Two roms of ur choice using siyah kernel, which u cant with a stock kernel

Depends on your current ROM.
If you are on a custom ROM, you may have to wipe data/do a factory reset.
And usually, stock ROMs come as tar files, which have to be flashed in Odin or Mobile Odin app.
Good luck !

Which sgs2 model do you have?
It sounds like your flashing incorrect rom/kernel to your model or you have corrupted files.
GT-i9100 of course ,I don't understand what went wrong everything should have been simple and all the files were correct

You gotta keep flashing.
Try stock first, that will give you a clean start.
And try to get ROMs from XDA, not google.
When I tried a stock ROM I don't remember the name but it got stock on S logo and the recovery mod didn't work, and the stock ROM that was installed is I9100xxkp8

Reset flash counter

Hi guys, I need your help, my flash counter says always that I have 1 and on booting appear one red point on the left side.
Is there any option to reset to 0 ?
I have tried with triangle away but is not working.
Here's my settings hope can anyone help me
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
did you install the new bootloader & a custom recovery? If yes, and if I am not wrong, the counter always resets itself to 1. Only solution is stock recovery or reset with triangle away after each boot.
btw: it should be in Q&A section
It's due to you use custom recovery & kernel

my flash counter always remains 1 even if I have stock ROM / stock recovery. I had taken it to service center without any problems ^^
