I'm now running ics chimera and its awesome, but I loved the subzero kernel on IcZen , but I don't know if the chimera 1.3 kernel is better. Help me decide on which one.

I am using SubZero on MIUIv4 by 360 Productions and it is absolutely the fastest kernel i have used, not to mention it has fast charge, BLN, kenel level file explorer, kernel level clock and volt controls, kernel level ROM controls, and support CWM Recovery+Touch. Basically my phone has great battery life, great speed, and great goodies using SubZero
Subzero definitely in my opinion ^^
That or Devil is pretty nifty with the control app

yeah i like Devil
Right now I'm running the devil kernel on my chimera ROM and its awesome with the 6.0. Based recovery, I may try sub zero after cause I used it when I was on Zen, and I'm thinking to revert.

You do know that both of these are from Team Whiskey, right?
The best kernel, as with all of the other what is the best questions, is the one that suites your needs the best. If you don't know what it does or what features you do or don't need stick with stock.

after trying out a couple kernels, i found out that Super I/o is the best for my vibrant!!
using the IO kernel now but i can't notice a difference. but it's fast od course but the stock kernel is as stable as this one.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
yep stock an the i/o are both as stable, i just use the i/o it seems a bit more snappy to me. i used the dow 1.3 and 1.4 and they where fast but crashed alot. =/ soo "Nero 3 - OCLF lagfix - super IO" is the way to goo -=D
im on the morfic castle thing but wheres the super i/o?
just a quick question, does any of the kernels come with cifs support? or do they include the cifs.ko module? I used the cifs manager to mount shares on windows hosts. thanks

Just so all of you know....any of you that are using this on another rom OTHER than eugenes rom are experiencing nothing more than a placebo effect. I know people have asked eugene if this would work on other roms and for whatever reason he's told people that he wasn't sure, even though he knew it wouldn't.
This kernel is simply a stock 2.2 vibrant kernel that calls an init script called 'mtpx' in the /bin directory. Its the same exact init script I had in Obsidian v5 called 'sombionixInit'. His flashable kernel doesn't install this file, its a file included in his rom, not the kernel. For that reason, if you are using this kernel on any other rom but his, you are running a stock kernel, nothing more, nothing less.

I have stock ED01 on my Fascinate. I want to get a Voodoo kernel back on the phone to negate the lag. Not sure which Kernel would be the best one to get because I am a n00b
I to want to know what voodoo kernel to use someone please answer
I'm pretty sure any of the froyo kernels would be fine. Personally, I'm using nemesis' kernel since it has the most customization and it works fine.

Using jts kernel because of personal preference. Other ones are heavily modded. Namely undervolted a lot.

Cool I just flashed this rom. I like everything except the black everthing theme. Not a big fan but for now that stuff takes a back seat to working fast phone with good battery life.
So far this ROM is very fast. I am liking that. No showstoppers for me. No major bugs although I did have one lockup/reboot when I first opened the camera. Might need to pull the battery, because I haven't done that since before I flashed this ROM/Kernel.
Very nice overall.
I just flashed the new rom and I gotta say I love it....except for one thing. I can't seem to get any sound to work with the startup. I have the poweron.wav file in the right spot... i think... but still no sound. Can anyone confirm if the community rom allows startup sound?

I just need a stable 2.2 ROM, preferably with a 1.4 GHz overclock.
Stable roms (that I've tried) - Bionix, Trigger, and Bi-Winning
Since you want to OC, you need a custom kernel (i think all those roms just come with Stock voodoo). Any OC that you will do will not create a stable environment for your Vibrant (everyones CPU is built differently so results will vary). Basically, OC and Stable do not go in the same sentence.

Bionix NextGen 1.3.2 with whatever overclock kernel is recommended.
Hands down.
I'm not currently using it for testing purposes (and because the theme sucks so hard, sorry TW, I love you but you gotta admit that ****'s ugly.)
Try SGS II clone V2. It's stable, and looks great. I'm running with an Overstock kernel.

I've found on my vibrant that a 1.4ghz overclock is too much.. 1.2 is stable though.
I'm using the trigger rom it runs great with of but you don't need to overclock to 1.4 to improve overall smoothness

You mean what ROM we are running?
I'm using (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ at the moment, it's been working pretty solid for me.
You really can't go wrong trying out the various latest builds, Gray's is pure CM9 with no tweaks added, the rest have various things added/modified/removed.
Best way is to try them out, as everyone is going to have different opinions.
The builds are all pretty much the same, just small tweaks here and there, but Snuzzo's kernel is a beast, so Rage is the winner for me at the moment.
Rage all the way
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Neo's Rage is awesome the inverted gapps are sick.
I prefer plain CM9, so I'm using Gray's ROM. Replaced the kernel with the Super Charge kernel though
Maybe this is a good place to ask: I'm running Gray's 9/21 CM9 build, does Snuzzo's kernel work with it? I'd like to give that Wheatley governor a try.
Which phone are we talking about here? Cm9 and kernels aren't universal right? Still learning.

Yea, I just went back to it because of stability problems with AOKP. Snuzzo's kernel works great with it. Screen-off battery life is crazy on Wheatley.

LK Kernel is the most "stable" kernel. Originally, you asked for the best kernel for "battery saving" ... LK's kernel meets that requirement.
But if you want the ability to OC, you can try the Cubed kernel from DSB. But that is not going to be as stable right now, because it had a lot more features to it.

had my fun, going back to stock. Cubed is excellent but i cant have a SoD while im at work our out and about. I'll still be flashing for dsb to help him bug swat.
I'm using LK's kernel and I've noticed my standby battery time has increased by at least 40%. I can't say how much it helps with heavy usage. If you're looking for overclocking, tons of governors, voltage settings, etc. I would wait for DSB to finish his new Cubed remake.
