Hi all,
Is there a simple way to update my Xperia X10 mini pro U20i from 2.1.1 rooted to ICS 4? I have heard a lot of problems and different ways for update, Which one of all is the safe?

If it is safe to unlock the bootloader on your phone. If it isn't you end up with a brick instead of a phone.
Look under your batttery u will find like a 10w29 or 11wxx tell me it

mine are 10W03 So what can i do next bro ?
and can u tell me how to :
- unlock bootloader,
- flash nAa ics kernel
- and install minicm9 3.0.4 ?

you can install only trough doomlord kernel or intek kernel....

he can instal trough SE TWEAKER on locked BOOTLOADER.
you can used CWM to backup. But for custom ROM, you better unlock bootloader first.
could someone tell me how to unlock the bootloader and flashing the nAa kernel... I've tried but failed.... the thing which i need is proper instructions....

Get the latest Flashtool. Search this forum for a link and you will most likely find instructions. Stand by for annoyed people telling you this.

thanks man!... I've done it. I've successfully unlocked bootloader and flashed the nAa-10 kernel but i am experiencing that my rom ( cm7 2.0.7 ) is not working smoothly.. i saw some glitches on my UI like when i slide up and down the status bar... plz tell me which rom version of cm7 will be compatible with this kernel....

MiniCM7 is indeed the best option, but you will need an older version in order to run in on stock kernel. Go to the link provided in one of the previous posts, click on the word 'Downloads' and find MiniCM7 2.0.7, it's based on Gingerbread 2.3.5, and will run flawlessly on stock kernel.

With this method you can fix your touch problem if you flashed a wrong rom
Things we need:
Flash tools
Rage kernel gb
Stock .62 firmware for your device(ftf)
wrong rom that bricked your touchscreen
What should we do:
1:flash your device gb .62 firmware
2:flash rage kernel
3:flash that wrong rom again
4:if wrong rom was ics,rom will not boot then remove the battery to turn phone off then flash .62 firmware again if it was gb,do the same work
5:wait until stock rom boots the touch will be fixed
6:if touch screen fixed,press thanks button
I tested this method two times and worked

sorry to say but its another futile effort from my side.....not working at all....
i installed realicsv6 and the same procedure as said my you on my xperia mini pro(sk17i) but my touch is still dead.....

Unlock ur bootloader.. try this method.. it will work,at least on mini

flashed realics 6 from cwm
flashed back .62 for sk17a

You made mistake in aroma?
Like selecting another device in aroma?
Did you choose that wrong device in aroma when you flashed real ics 6?

yes the first time when i installed real ics i chose unlocked bootloader instead of locked bootloader in aroma.
any idea why my screen is gone? coz the display shows nothing now

I don't know this method only workrs when you flash a wrong rom or choose wrong device in Aroma

Thing is: I don't know what rom initially broke the touchscreen since I got the phone in this condition, hoping for an easy fix
I don't think there's a way to tell what rom was on there....so my best bet is still random flashing, right?

The guy I got it from flashed a rom with aroma installer and accidentally flashed the sk17i version, that's all I know

Ok you can flash an aroma rom and select sk17 in "choose your device" for Step 3.
U can use ultimate hd rom

If you already unlocked the bootloader, just flash the extended kernel. It will automatically give you root

Once you have unlocked ur bootloader all you need to do is flash a pre-rooted kernel(maximum are pre-rooted) and then flash any ROM made for the kernel

Just flash any custom kernel then u can use doomlords rooting toolkit for ics or gb..

Download lupus kernel, Just Google lupus kernel for your device. (ics or jb). Then install any rom. Recommend cm.
PS: MOST OF THE COSTUM KERNELS ARE PREROOTED
