Custom ROM? There are no Custom ROMs for Sony Tablet. Also, he did say it was the official upgrade, so I would assume it's the 4.0.3 OTA update.
gars129: can you try installing something like Lumberjack or Remote Logcat and see if any weird messages show up in logcat or dmesg when that happens. A system app crash like that should be logged in one of those at least.

It happens sometimes to me too, I'm on Froyo MIUI. What I do is hit Cancel and repeat the procedure or force close the Market and try again. Usually after 1-3 tries it works.

Are you using DroidWall, HiSurfing or other IPTables' shell? If so, maybe you're being too much restrictive.
In this case, try to power off the Firewall and use the Market. If the Market now works well, you can unblock one app a time until you find the guilty one (make sure you're unblocked Market and Media server!).
You can also check if your Market Settings aren't filtering the contents you want.

I had this same problem on my droid X. What I did is, I used TB to freeze the "updater". This stopped the alerts and prevented me from updating to Gingerbread, which I did not want ( I wanted to stay on Froyo).

I think it is FWUpgrade 1.2.0 on the S3 that you could freeze.
BTW what was so great about froyo, gingerbread was much better imo.

When sometimes my browser downloads "Too much" data from the page (Not above 50MB though and i'm not talking about file downloads execpt php files of course for the page to render ) it just kills itself and after going back it reloads the page it crashed on and after that there is usually a same crash comes along and after that, i come back to the browser and i ended up on the home page, all tabs wiped out, just like it got force killed.

[Q] ICS bluetooth bug on LWW

I updated my phone to ICS (lastest relased from sony on 8th Sept.) and getting problem of restarting while turning on bluetooth.
After updating your phone to ICS, initially nothing will happen to your phone using bluetooth drastically but problem starts occuring after the usage of 1-2 days.
As u will turn your bluetooth on, phone will keep on restarting.
Any solution to this?
Note : Some victims believe it to be a problem of bootloop but as far as my knowledge is concerned bootloop starts with Sony logo and ends at half of walkman animation. But in my case and all others problem is of restarting where hu starts from sony logo and ends at the littlest show of home screen....
Reply as fast as possible guys.

Wallpaper issue

Hello

That's probably launcher redrawing, and I've noticed it happening a couple of time on mine too. It's pretty much Android that kills the launcher at one point, which it shouldn't do, so I guess Sony will have to up the priority of the launcher in an update.
I believe I read a post somewhere here that mentioned a way to temporarily fix this issue, but I'm not sure if it was @hamdogg or @blueether

Wasn't me so you will have to blame @hamdogg
Yeah I always blame my dog too...
There is a way using build.prop to keep the launcher in memory, but with android 4.*.* it is anyway so that won't help. You could try it, but theoretically it shouldn't help.
Add the following line into your build.prop file:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1

That's not even close to what i thought the problem was. Have you updated to the newest Album version (which was released yesterday)? Also, try using QuickPic or something to set your wallpaper. Lastly, go to Settings -> Apps -> Home -> Clear Cache and data (this will clear all homescreen widgets, app sorting etc.)

woah... yeah thats not what I thought you meant either.
Umm... never seen that before.
I guess flashing the FTF again and then rooting. Then test drive it a few hours before installing apps.
My guess its an app or something thats doing that. Shouldn't happen. Never seen it before...
(Oh actually.. on my custom ROM it did that. But that was when i was mashing two basebands together to get the best of both worlds. my own frankinstein so to speak. ran like a dogg to... )

I'm fine, thank you! You haven't really missed that much around here. Things are running as usual, and the latest "hot new thing" is of course 757 and Doomlord's kernel. I also read 20 minutes ago that a new ZU firmware (761) is certified, so we're probably getting yet another bugfixer soon.

You could make the "OOM" (out of memory) higher. Several root apps give the opportunity to do this. You could also add an exception for the launcher in one of those apps.

Yeah, I'm doing OK, work has slowed down, but still busy enough. As LordManhattan said you haven't missed too much except 757 and doomlords kernel for Stock roms. I've just ported @Androguide.fr's pimped kernel, and if it's stable today I'll probably post it publicly tonight - only had one reboot when playing with cpu governers and off line cores.
