Freeze the widgets you don't use and the gapps you don't use. I usually freeze all the Samsung bloatware, email, g+. Best thing is to look over the apps list; if there's something you don't have think you'll use, look up what it does and then freeze it.
Also get a start up manager like autostarts to control what apps start on boot

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. I am trying to find a way to actually close apps. I have used several apps such as advanced taskkiller and android booster but no app I can find really closes the app. I'll use pandora for example. Since I've loaded it on my phone I have not opened it once but whenever I look in my running apps its running. I will close/force close the app and within 10sec its back open. There are several third apps like this. I understand that some apps need to run but there are some that don't. I need an app that will close these apps and keep them closed. This ends up really bogging down my phone after a day or two of keeping it on. FYI I am using a HTC thunderbolt unrooted

Do you have any idea on how android works? Read the permissions of the app to understand more.
You cannot close apps on Android.

That's a lie.
if you use the pandora app rarely then you should download titanium backup and freeze the app. When you need to use it again simply defrost it.Simple as hell
Can we now successfully uninstall apps instead of just freezing them?
Anyone? Can I uninstall or is freezing the only method?

You can delete. Just be careful when doing so

I would recommend a full nandroid backup before deleting stuff, just in case.then a full titanium backup, in case you mess up with one app. Then start uninstalling. there are lists of what is safe to remove. Or you can freeze, then if everything is ok after a day or two of use, uninstall the app.

Exactly! I did this the first time with RCMix3D's Runny to get rid of social media & other cruft. Now it's a lean, mean Sense machine.

if i freeze an app is that the same as deleting?? of coarse i know if u delete you get the extra space..but other than that is there a real difference?
Freezing stops it from running, it's like uninstalling without losing the files. One you confirm the file isn't necessary for anything you use, then you can uninstall.

I noticed that each time I boot the phone some apps start automatically. I mean Mapps, Latitude, Places and Navigation. All of them installed automaticaly when installed Maps. How to switch off those apps running in background? I want to use them only when I need them
Download romtoolbox from market place.

You can use Gemini app manager to edit app autoruns and stop them running at boot.

Hello guys, maybe it's sound incredibly (because I know that many people love this app) but I tried to install this app too, and then freeze problem started...First, I frozen Google Play Store services, because it was useless to me.When I frozen it on Titanium Backup, I just opened "Ceal master" app, and accidentally chosen "update this app" or something like that, my whole system just frozen when it's opened that Google Play store (which I was frozen on Titanium Backup) So I just had to take out a battery and take it in again to make my Samsung work again (Because there was absolutely no reaction before, even I couldn't restart it by my own holding power key) After that, my Samsung device started working normally again.
And one more example, that I was frozen Dropbox services on Titanium, then I wanted to sync my some photos with Dropbox, and my whole system frozen again and I had to take out battery and to take in again, to make my system to work normally.
So, finally I deleted that f****ng Titanium Backup app and tried to install "DisableServices" and this app doesn't cause any freeze problems for me.
So,what do you think, it is possible that Titanium Backup can cause freeze problem for a whole system?
And what about your experiences with Titanium Backup app?
Sounds like a severe case of "stupid owner"syndrome to me
If you freeze a system app, and the system needs the app it can cause the phone to freeze.
I don't want to offend you but are you sure you should be rooted after that?

Got to agree with the 2 above. Don't freeze what you don't understand

Thanks,I've learned many things with android but Titanium backup was just not for me,because probably I didn't know how to use it correctly.:cyclops:
There is a possibility that you have a mixed odex/deodexed system.. This can cause titanium backup to freeze the phone up.

why would you freeze Dropbox if you want to use it?

Have been using TiB for 2 years now and never had a problem because of frozen apps. But you have to know which app to freeze. Freezing is just like uninstalling so be careful with system apps. Normally rather than freeze, I just uninstall apps and restore from backup with data if required. But you can freeze apps like Maps, may be useful for that.

It also helps if You have multiple launchers, You could freeze the launchers which You don't use, Which will lead to a better battery life and user experience
Always making a backup before doing anything helps a lot .. You'll need it trust me ^_^
