Multiple Roms from boot - HTC EVO 3D

http://init2winitapps.com/stories/bootmanager.html
Anyone tried this? You can boot multiple ROMs.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium

Tried it a few Month ago. Didnt worked for me. Destroyed my normal rom boot, so i had to restore every time.

old news...
been using it for several months and works great!
As long as you setup your phone rom when you first launch the app you will be good to go.... it backs up the boot img into an update.zip so you can always flash that to get back to your actual rom

Yeah can see its a bit old. Just wanted to know if anyone had any problems or anything good to say about it before I give it a go

Optimus 3D space on EVO 3D

The optimus 3D has a sweet 3D gallery and YouTube 3D and a nice carousel where you can select games or the gallery and stuff Can we port it to our phones? Im surprised it hasn't been done yet. Can someone port it to our phones?

Come to think of it could we not just get the apk's from the optimus ?

It wouldn't hurt to try.
Via My HTC Evo 3D On The Now Network From Sprint.
I pulled the apk and tried normal installation... FC... Tried pushing to system/app... FC... Changed permissions... FC. Anyone got any ideas as to how to make it work for the Evo 3D? I'll post the apk if someone wants to try editing it.

This would be amazing if we had this on the 3D. It would be something to take advantage of the 3D concept even more

People have tried numerous times. This is like the 10th thread I've seen about this. It's too difficult.
If we look at how the lg application was build cant we just take the elements from it and implant it in a totally new app?
Like if you create a Htc evo 3D app but then fill it with the lg goodness ?
Because the framework is different doesn't mean we can't try to remake the app right..?
Yea we really got ripped as far as 3d content on our phones. We didn't get Jack and still don't have anything aside from a couple YouTube videos

well then someone should go into the dev section and gather some people to make this happen.
+ 1

HTCDev should come out with this kind of development and make our Evo 3D more exciting and fun to use.
could you use something like metamorph to use it on our phones?
I think we should put up a bounty for the optimus app on the 3d like what happened with the touchpad.

People have offered a bounty, but nobody's interested. Like said above, this is probably the tenth thread on this exact same thing. Besides, while it's flashy, it really doesn't offer all that much. It's just a portal to 3D content.
If it uses different framework, to my knowledge, it would be pretty hard to get on this device since you would have to build it from the ground-up. Porting wouldn't be possible.
Thx to Adixtra

There are several apps being used which we currently have on our device, by looking in them we may have the ability to tweak it for our EVO3D.
Thx.. and good luck to the devs taking this on, it would be an extreme benefit for us all.

Root or non root?

I am trying to decide if rooting my phone is a good idea. Just bought it, but the stock rom seems too eat my battery. Is there a good reason to root this phone?
Will enhance my battery life?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App
Yes and no. Depends on which ROM and kernel you install. Added to that, modification of your phone habits and screen brightness will increase your phone's battery life tremendously.
Hmm well I have reduced everything to minimum, so I can have more time out of the battery. I am hopeing that it will last longer after a week or two of use. I have a rooted HUAWEI x5 and there I gained more by rooting it. I was wondering if I could gain the same on this one.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App
You better believe you can! Root away brother, and never look back. :-D
then this one will get rooted to
What's the best rom on this device btw? I used oxygen on my Huawei, with launcher pro. It became a awesome phone, except when it came to using it as a phone haha
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App
There's a bunch in the development section to try out. Personally, I really like warm since it has some of my friends from the hero days in it.
But you know how rooting goes. Nandroid and get to flashing!
Haha yes I know
I will have a look into it :-D but this time I will use more than 10 minutes to decide ;-) first phone got rooted 10 minutes after I bought it
Got side tracked
Did they ever get the dsniff up and running?
Haha I have to stick my head into that again, because having on it my phone would just be awesome ;-)
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App
Root it! Root it! Root it!
Blackened Rom + chads kernel + juice defender = great batt life. Also by rooting phones u can undervolt and change to low freqs when screen is off which saves a lot of battery.

Lol This reminded me of Will Ferrell when he slammed on the gas screaming "America!" in the movie The Other Guys.
Dsniff is a packet sniffer that allows you to capture network traffic. Combined with a few other tools you might get wep keys etc.
Okey blackened rom and kernel.
One thing, how do I get a decent backup of the shipped rom? What app can be used?

Experience with EVO 3D

Not trying to brag or anything, but when I see reviews for this phone I see people saying it gives random reboots, locks up, crashes, overheating, and that It's just so problematic..however I never witnessed any of that, my phone never froze once on me and never had any problems like that. I've had this phone for about a month and a couple weeks and no issues
Yeah. Not every phone is built the same. I've had mine since day one. Still runs like a champ.
Don't know what all the fuss is about it's an excellent phone in fact I couldn't be happier
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
Hmm Unless you don't follow proper procedures with flashing roms and kernels there shouldn't by any instability.
Also make sure u follow the devs suggestions for specific kernels and mods

Been using this since it launched in the UK. No problems whatsoever. My phones running default, had nothing done to it and It's smooth as butter.
The happy users won't complain or sing praises on forums much as we are satisfied with our product, while those that aren't happy will make themselves heard everywhere.
The only issue I have had is w/the touch screen freezing during calls --- although since I went on a flashoholic binge over the past week jumping between Sense based ROMs, CM7, CM9, and MIUI it seems to have fixed itself. I haven't had any issues all week.
All in all, I love it! Couldn't be happier!
I only really have four problems with this phone.
1 - The battery cover doesn't go on tightly in the top left corner.
2 - There is some dust under the screen.
3 - the phone gets quite hot under use occasionally.
4 - Having a PG86100.zip on the SD card makes it so that you can't boot to recovery through bootloader. Sure, it's easy to just remove it, but sometimes I forget to delete it and experiment too much. When I need to get into recovery in those cases, I can't because of the zip file. On my OG Evo if I didn't want to install the file, I could just say no and then tell the phone not to reboot. With this phone, if I say no, I HAVE to reboot.

Great phone, like it alot, also got an Sensation XE but I prefer my Evo 3D, don't know why, it's magic for me.
It gets very warm next to the camera(s) when I play graphics intensive games and the default music player is cruel, but I got PowerAmp and all in all I'm verry satisfied. Seriously, now the 3D-features aren't used for many times...but it's great to amaze people!
Here in Germany it's just 269€, means ca. 350$, cheap for the given value.
Yep, I never have any stability issues either, stock or rooted. This thing is a very stable beast!
I bought this phone on the release day for my dad's birthday. He had so many problems he had to get a replacement. I swear one day he was doing something on it and out of nowhere he had a reboot. He said it would happen all the time. I took possession of this phone about six weeks ago and have had not one problem at all. Maybe it didn't like him. But overall, this phone is awesome. Wouldn't give it up for anything in the world.

Dear users,
Because i cannot post in the KingCobra develpment thread, i will post this here.
I am having a strange problem . All of a sudden, the HTC evo 3d player does not play the video in 3d effect. Although i tab the 3D mode, its still in 2D. That includes videos from sick-flix but also videos from the phone's camera. I tried other players (bsplayer, Mxplayer), either they play the videos in 2D mode or two screens the same time
I use kingCobra 2.4.
Try reflashing the rom. Or restore a nand and see if the issue remains.

My phone is quite slow..ive had older phones with much better performance. What gives?
Well, we can't help you without you helping us by giving some specifics. Is the phone rooted? running a custom rom? If so which one?

I agree with this ^^^
I had this happen to me when I had my Photon. After about a week, I couldn't deal with it anymore. I fully wiped and reflashed everything, and I worked like a champ after this.
Another time, it keep freezing up and rebooting. It did it about 10-15 times a day, and I couldn't figured out why. It drove me crazy. After reading on xda that it maybe a bad app, I started removing the apps I had installed around the time it started. Once I removed the problem app, I never had an unexpected reboot again. I would have never believed an app could reek such havoc, but they can. Uninstall your apps one at a time, and see if the speed improves. You may have one not playing nice.
Hope this helps. Good luck
Did it run slow while it was stock? Maybe you have a bum unit.
