Running AOKP M6 with twrp. How do I get rid of twrp and go back to cwm on the fascinate?
If you reflash ms6 or flash the devil kernel, it will replace the recovery.

Thanks, thought that might be the cae. Trying Jellybean and it bootloops if flashed with twrp.
Hmm, reflashed, devil was okay. Moved over to skunkworks and twrp reappeared.

The last Skunkworks build 6/27 has TWRP built-in. Try the one with the next earlier date. I'm not certain which one it started being included on so you might have to keep going backwards until you find the latest without it.

My Photon is rooted, unlocked, CWM 5.0.2.8, Running CM 7 NIGHTLY 7/22. I wanted to switch to MIUI 2.7.27 Official Port for the Photon. Downloaded the Zip and GAPPS for the ROM, Nandroid Backup, Cleared Data/Factory Reset, Formated /Data, /System, /Cache, Cleared Delvik Cache and The Flashed The MIUI zip TWICE... went REALLY fast only showed MIUI Logo froze and then said rom completed. Flashed The Gapps and Rebooted... it stayed on the Motorola logo with Unlocked on the top for a whole day... i really want to switch to the MIUI Rom.... what am i doing wrong?
miui uses an installer that requires a rom to be installed on the phone. you wiped the system. don't wipe anything before installing. you can do that in the installer.
there are three files to flash. base, options then themes. it's a great rom. you'll enjoy it.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
So I download it from miui.us now what's the install process... its only one zip...
Bump... Anyone?
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
The zip on miui.us is only the ROM. You should be able to flash it but you have the wrong version of cwm. You need to have either jokers recovery v3, twrp, or cwm 5.0.2.7. 5.0.2.8 is from ROMmanager and doesn't work for any ics roms

Why don't you flash a rom that you can flash from CWM and then flash MIUI?
You could reinstall CM7 or AOKP.
Once installed run the MIUI installer (without wiping anything before starting the installer), and then install Gapps. You should then be good to go.
Also, I think you should spend some more time reading about what you're doing. It seems that you may be on the edge of not knowing what you're doing. I'd suggest (at a minimum) the first 3 posts in the MIUI thread should be understood in detail before doing this again.
In the stated version of cwm or do I need the old one

I'm not sure. I run AOKP. I think if you've got jokers revision 3 of CWM that you're fine.
I'm on 5.0.2.7-photon3. I think you're one release newer, but make sure it's joker's version and you should be alright.
Check out qbking77 on YouTube. He has install vids for most of our roms.

I wouldn't use that. Watch QBKing77's video. He'll walk you through it. I'd put CM7 back on and go from there.
His directions are awesome. That was a good idea!

1. I was in rom manager earlier and noticed it says I have both CWM and TWRP installed. I remember installing project freegee w/CWM but not TWRP. Is this an error? If so, is it an issue?
2. I'm seeing something about CWMtouch or whatever. I just installed what came with freegee. I'm not quite sure how to use adb for the updater script. Is it necessary that I install this? Is freegee using a way outdated version?
Thanks in advance.

You need to upgrade to a new recovery. The one that came with free gee is broken, so any backups you made with it are no good. I personally use sk8's recoveries, but TWRP is good to go too.

I don't use rom manager, but I'm pretty certain you can only have one recovery. Also, the updater script isn't needed either.
Someone will jump in here with more info.

Ah ok. From the 1-2 times I have used it it seemed fairly straight forward. I just know for things like CM10 rom it says install cwmod first then flash the rom. Is it possible to flash cm10 from twrp?

Yes it is. Just use goomanager to update it TWRP to the latest. Also I guess you could just use ROM manager to install CWM, but as stated TWRP seems to be the best for the note

OK, be kind, I have rooted and used different ROMs on other devices, but this one has me puzzled. I rooted my note and tried the avatar ROM and got error 7. I tried parakang... By Jamie and got the same error. I redownloaded the ROMs, wiped every thing, etc, and still the same. I tried son of android and it worked.
So a week later I wanted to try the other ones again. Same error. I did all the wipes. Using twrp.
In panic, I tried soa again, and it was fine. Why does this one work and not the others?
Thanks for any help

Thanks for letting us know that was it! I'm glad it's fixed for you now.
It's really starting to bother me. I even thought that it might be that I deleted files I needed, so I completely unrooted and factory reset my phone, then rerooted and installed CM11, but it still did it.
ROM's I've tried that do it: CM11, Gummy Rom, OmniRom, AOKP
Any KitKat ROM causes my phone to Screen of Death and I can not for the life of me figure out the cause.
Please, can someone help me out?

-Install ROM
-Wipe Data/Cache
-Install GApps
-Wipe Data/Cache once more

I will say this. Twrp 2.5.0.2 is probably the best recovery for this phone. Others have had success with various recoveries. But IMO it seems to be the best.
That being said let's alter your process.
Factory Reset is fine. Then go to advanced wipe, select system, Data, Cache, davlik. Then Wipe.
Install rom and gapps. Reboot. Don't wipe cache and dalvik again.
Let me know.
If that didn't work I'll help you get to the right version of TWRP.
Let me know.
Which gapps? Make sure it is a version for 4.4.2.
Banks gapps or PA gapps are fine.

I use the Cyanogenmod Gapps from their list. And today is the first day running the new TWRP. For the last five months or so I was on 2.5.0.2 and I had the same problem. So I don't think that's the issue. I'm really at a loss though, I can't figure it out at all. But I'll definitely try your method.

Google banks gapps. Use the standard Version for 4.4.2. It's a small download. Let's mix it up. Try nameless or beanstalk, roms I know are working great right now. Get the latest beanstalk țhru goo the op isn't updated I don't think. Or the latest nameless.

they both can be very customizable. But if you leave them be they are very stock looking. Cyanogenmod is the base for both. I'm very partial to nameless right now personally. But they are both very good. I just know both are really stable right now.
