Micromax A52 (ROM Backup Generic) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi friends,
I recently bought Micromax A52. Thought of rooting it and after looking on xda i figured that existing root methods didn't enable root privilege in Micromax A52. Thinking of trying the manual way to root ( Creating own methods to root).
I need your help in getting basic idea of few things.
I dont know/find where i can download A52 stock OS. Pleas guide me the process of backing up stock.
After stocking original os as we can easily restore to it, would like to proceed with the rooting steps. Wondering how a rooting softy (Superoneclick or z4root etc) works based on which i will be able to give a shot on it.
I know the queries here are silly but if you help me i could learn to master ..
Thanks
LN

Thank you sharmad247. I tried them but failed. First of all it was because of MT65xx Preloader failed driver at boot and later in Factory boot mode identified the chip is MT6575 and searched for that particular driver. (Tried rooting as well)
Got the drivers from
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26408058&postcount=9
and installed successfully.
Now started Smart Phone Flash Tool again and configured Readback.
Disconnected phone from Data Cable.
Clicked on Read Back button on Flash Tool.
Switched off phone. Removed battery.
Connected Data Cable.
Inserted Battery.
Press and Hold on Vol - UP / Down button. (Tried both ways)
Flash tool detected the driver (showed on status bar) and popped up the error attached.
Please try and let me know when you are successful in making backup (I can understand where i went wrong), Also please share backed up rom.
If you also want to root, I tried lots of possibilities but seems i missing some steps and rooting not successful yet.
Thanks

No luck with me too

This seems to be 'Download Mode' error which our phone does not support or does not have it. But has a recovery mode with limited options.
I too tried this on Ubuntu 11.04, but no luck.

Works with an ADB tweak
Pantel's BSNL Penta IS703C has weird path variable. the su present in /bin/ takes precedence. That file is merely a symlink to /bin/busybox. Rooting solutions don't affect it and therefore rooting this tablet from existing rooting solutions does not work.
Following method works for this tablet:
Follow all steps of any rooting solution, I chose root with restore by bin4ry with option 1
Enter ADB shell (root with restore by bin4ry folder contains adb.exe, use it by Windows cmd prompt)
Code:
adb shell
mv /bin/su /bin/su1
Done!

Where did you get an upgraded firmware from? I know of only two official firmwares.
20120910%20IS703C%20software.zip (new)
and
IS703C1GB.zip (old)
(Here is my opinion about these two firmwares:
New
Pros: Obviously, it is new. Offers more apps. Physical buttons work as volume keys. Taskbar has hide option.
Cons: Wallpaper says that P. C. Chacko has gifted tablet to some scholar. /system/media/boot.mp3 plays annoying audio at startup. Taskbar has screenshot button. Stock Skype app is by tom.com.
Fix: Remove wallpaper. Rename boot.mp3 from ADB/root. Install official Skype app.
Old
Pros: Physical buttons work as menu and back keys.
Cons: Older version. Less apps.)
I have tried both firmwares and both work fine. Did you try some firmware for some other tablet? If so, then you'll have to flash any original firmware back.
Actually I tried installing CWM of a fly tablet but it didnt worked so reflashed stock firmware. But after some timme my tab refused to boot. still looking for a solution.
Try this

If your tablet is still detected by ADB, then you might be able to reflash the stock firmware again. I don't know if any JTAG sort of fixes are provided by Pantel service center. I suggest you ask them, no harm in asking.

Since it is detected by ADB, I wouldn't be much worried.
I see that you earlier tried pantel.in/Download/Software/IS703C1GB.zip. Have you ever tried pantel.in/Download/Software/20120910 IS703C software.zip instead? It is the newer firmware from Pantel.

I got the root from here
xxx.slatedroid.com/topic/33144-haipad-i9220-mtk6575-android-40/
1.Please download root file on
xxx.t-kstore.com/4.0root.rar
2.Go to*setting-developer options-click USB debugging
3.Connect the phone with computer, turn on usb device.
4.Click the file you download from the link TPSparkyRoot.bat*
5.Your phone will restart first time, after the phone start finish(until you see the unlock),click enter in the window of TPSparkyRoot.bat.
6.The phone will restart second time, still the same as first time we did. Then start third time, same as we did in last two*times.Click enter, then phone was rooted.
7.You will see two more app was installed in your phone, that mean root phone successfully.
thanks! that was very helpful information! i had some trouble getting windows to connect to my device. kept getting the error: device not found. i suppose it is because i didn't have the proper drivers for the device.
but it is surprisingly easier when done in linux. i just needed to mess around a little with the udev rules.
for the benefit of newbies like me, the instructions provided from that link provided by worldbreaker, i didn't completely follow them. you can choose to install your own superuser and root explorer apk here. in my case, i already installed the Superuser app from the play store even before the rooting process. i also installed Root Explorer separately from the rooting process as well. so no chinese apps for me
now what?

Hi everyone,

Dapeng i9800 firmware found but links dead! Nead russian help!
Hi, I'm from West-Germany and got into trubble:
First of all, I used A Dapeng I9800 for more than 2 years without any problems!
Then, I got my Winter-Blues and cleaned cache from recovery mode!
After that the device didn't boot, because it wanted a passwort to use the cache, which wasn't set. No prob so far!
The solution I found was, that I have to set back to factory default.
But I took off the battery while it was formatting.
Yes, shame on me, I wasn't patient(!) thats my fault!
Now, I've got two new problems:
Is the EMMC bricked?
My russian isn't good enough to enter this forum: china-iphone.ru
to ask these two guys:
BBV1962 http://forum.china-iphone.ru/member12688.html
and:
designed http://forum.china-iphone.ru/member201062.html
via PM, for a working link they posted for my device in their posts on this sides:
http://forum.china-iphone.ru/n9880-6-0-480x854-1-2ghz-android-4-0-3-2x3000-mah-t21999-120.html
http://forum.china-iphone.ru/n9880-6-0-480x854-1-2ghz-android-4-0-3-2x3000-mah-t21999-140.html.
The MTK6575-77 6" original firmware ROM below the posted picture is what I mean.
I hope, someone can get a link for me AND it is not worthless, because the EMMC is broken, as my own backup dosn't work.
Maybee you can get the info hww to flash back exactly, because I get an 4010 format error with the spflash tool.
Thanks a lot

[Q] Rooting android 4.04 allview P5

Hello, i just recently purchased an Allview P5 smartphone, it's really cost efficient but recently i started getting some problems because the phone is not rooted and i was wondering how to root the android 4.04. i tried the superoneclick 2.3.3 and installed adb and something from java, bu when i rung the program superoneclick the program just freezes and it's not responding. any suggestions or guides that i should follow?
best regards
Chris
Try root for HaiPai I9220. For me it works.
Having the same problem here, Superoneclick freezes on step 7 iirc.
HaiPai didn't work for me either
So that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923764
There you will find this: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?othd1gf76pa97zg
It is 100% functional, but need more knowledge and skill.
Ok, I came a lot further this time, but still stuck.
As soon as I let Cygwin `patch` the recovery.img, it does the patching and stuff, but it doesn´t create a new recovery.img for some reason..
If you check page 13 of that PDF manual: I get all the same messages in Cygwin, except for that "Repacking" bit.
Any Idea why it isn't repacking?
Losing my nerves a bit because of Cygwin, what a horrible program to get to work properly. Installation went on beyond 100%, till about 2000% and then just started to count further in negatives >____<
You must have installed 7-zip archive program.
SuperOneClick should work for this device. You may try this:
1) unmount the sd-card, turn ON usb-debugging
2) turn OFF usb-debugging
3) connect device to PC
4) click "Root"
5) when "Waiting for Device" appear turn ON usb-debugging
6) when "Starting ADB Server..." turn OFF usb-debugging
7) then turn it back ON
8) and back OFF
9) repeat this while "Waiting for Device" appears again.
@Stovka: I have 7zip installed, the unpacking/extracting of the recovery.img goes fine in Cygwin, but for some reason it just skips the repack part.
@AndreyETO: As soon as I disable debugging mode, superoneclick stops the procedure, so I didn't get far with that
So sorry, I don't really know what is the problem...
It was all ok for me - the one problem was that I had not installed 7-zip, but after installing it worked exactly according to instructions.
If it were successful: after recording recovery.img to the phone is first necessary to go into CWM mode (no run phone) and install the root file attached. End CWM recovery mode is classically done by clicking on "reboot system now", but after the first time there appears one more option (just I don't know what name), which must be confirmed! Otherwise, when you restart the phone again, then will be loaded the original file and the recovery process must be repeated - upload modified recovery.img and then root file via CWM.

Same experience on Allview P6 Stony (P6_0201_V1179 software build). This method works for me - similarly I had to run the script (and the reboot cycle) 2x before it had an effect.
As pointers for others, before you try this method you need to make sure you have ADB drivers installed. Trying to install stock google drivers didn't work at all for me, what worked for me was installing latest PdaNet drivers (pdanetZ350.exe) from here: junefabrics.com/android/download.php *
Don't forget to install OTA Rootkeeper app afterwards and run it once - hopefully saves you the hassle of rooting again if the P6 should receive an incremental update.
Enjoy, thanks Flapperbol!
(*= sorry Im not allowed to post links)
Version 18 also works
Just to let you guys know that version 18 of Root_with_restore works. I just the ADB drivers from the PDAnet install (which I cancelled after the drivers were installed) and the phone is now rooted!
Does anybody know how to get rid of those ugly allview icons? I hate those things.

[Q] Alps S5 octacore, ROM readback and root

Hi, I just bought this phone from TECA Mobility, it turns out to be an Alps S5. See attachement for a detailed description.
I tried to ge the root. I tried some different tools, without success.
MTK Droid Tools ROOT button doesn't work but gives a link to xda's MKT forum, so I started with the recommended procedure. I tried to read back the ROM with SP-FlashTools but no way, it doesn't start. I also made some attempts with the Android SDK but adb backup of course doesn't work for the System partition without root.
When I send the adb reboot recovery command the phone goes in download mode, with the adb reboot bootloader command it goes in fastboot mode, while to have it in the factory recovery mode I have to manually hold down the start and vol down buttons. However, it doesn't matter, the readback does not start.
Should I try to install the CWD recovery without having a backup of the ROM? I think it's too risky. I looked at NEEDROM to see if I can find my ROM, but didn't find. I found these, "S5 SM-G900 MT6592", but I cannot be sure it's the right one.
Somebody can help me? I want to root the device.

Hi
1) First root your device using MTK Chopper (from PC) or framaroot (from android app) . Both work fine for MTK phones
2) Then using MTK droid tools backup your ROM. Here is the guide for that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730031
3)Then using MTK droid tools , make CWM recovery for your phone and install it . Here is guide for that

Hit THANKS if it works

I think you mean MOTO Chopper? It doesn't work, same as framaroot. They are old tools, they don't work anymore on the ROMs released after June 2014.
ODIN could work but I have not the sure/right file to download.
Generally speaking, the first thing to do is that of getting a backup of the ROM from the un-rooted phone
The guides that have been reported to work in these cases are:
From XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38337401&postcount=5
From China Devices:
http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-ROOT-CWM-Readback-your-ROM-with-SP-Flash-Tools#
Hereunder is the link to a success case story:
http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-Rooting-new-octacore-S5
There is no way I know to get the root with one-click-tools, there is no case I could find of anybody being able to root these phones by following other procedures.
If anybody knows better, please send me a link (MTK phones with ROM s released after june 2014 only!!!)
My only problem now is that I cannot get the read back with Flash Tools. I have tried uncountable button-pressing combinations, I have put the phone in recovery, download, fastboot mode, I have tried with and without battery, phone switched off or on - no error, but the read-back doesn't start (however my phone doesn't have the USB connection working when it's off or without battery).
The only way to skip this step is, if I had already a copy of the firmware available, a sure one.
Kindly help me if you can
Hi
Odin doesn't work for MTK mate
Try this latest app . It worked for some latest MTK KK phones
http://www.kingoapp.com/index.htm
Some other KK phones got rooted using vroot and rootgenius
Try your luck
Final option is to read back from SPFT which has 90+ success rate

As bizarre as this sounds, I managed to get root on a similar phone (another MTK6592 S5 knockoff) with MTK tools. After exhausting my options, I clicked the ADB button and tried to get root shell regardless (via 'adb root shell', which probably isn't the proper command but it works regardless), which caused some sort of hang. After a minute or so I unplugged my phone, which caused things to start responding again; plugging it back in showed me as having temporary root, and the get root button actually worked the next time I tried it. I have no idea how or why it worked, or if it was a once in a lifetime occurrence, but it can't hurt to try.
Also, if your phone is anything like mine (and is actually running some form of KitKat), good luck getting write support for external SD cards. I couldn't get the system partition to mount (to write changes to the necessary file) via anything but ADB shell.
Problem solved
Good to know, thank ypu.
However in the meantime I solved my problem.
My phone works this way: I have to remove the battery and connect it to the USB cable. Then it goes in "preloader mode" and tries to install a driver called "MT65XX preloader driver". This driver actually emulates a COM port. If data transfer doesn't start, then, after a few seconds, the device goes down and disappear from Windows list. So it is easy to miss it when we install all drivers. I had to dowload it (from Google cloud service in my case), install and ... the Read Back started !!! Now I have completed the procedure and my phone is rooted with the CWD recovery installed.
ALPS S5 phone, real FLASHROM total size, 64GB ext SDcard not working

Maybe your phone was using firmware dated before june 2014? These was a bug that was exploited by Framaroot, but now they fixed it.
Is your phone also from ALPS? They sold it to me as capable of installing an external 64GB SDHC card, but I cannot have it working. Did you face any similar issue?
Otherwise 32GB cards work fine. Have you tried Aparted app? I use it for formatting/maintenace. This app makes partitioning, I guess it should work.
Also, if your phone is from ALPS, does it really have the ROM memory that is advertised?
I am facing some interesting issues with my phone on this respect. It was sold as having 16GB internal ROM, of which about 12GB avalible for users. In fact, the settings menu shows 10GB ,( 8GB available) of internal memory, and about 4GB of phone memory. Well, if I am correct, this so called internal memory maps to the directory /data (the one highest level in the root), who corresponds to partirtion mmcblk0p7. This partition actually has a size of 2.3GB instead of 10 !!!. f I install and try to run online Nandroid backup, I cannot have it working on paths directed towards the SDcards, but it works on the path data/media. Well, a backup of about 1.2GB is shown in the setting menu of the phone as a memory consumption of about 5 GB !!!
Then I had also hard time in copying this file from the /data directory to one of the SD cards. Root Browser and Root Explorer didn't work, only ES Manager with root rights worked.
Maybe you can give me some advice in finding some tool or SDK procedure to assess what the real total size of the memory is? Or some suggestion on how to fix the ext 64GB card? I got bad feelings with the guys who sold this phone to me, so I would like to collect some more evidence if possible.
I downloaded some applications for making device inspection. They read the manufacturers' data, so they get cheated - even if, in some cases, they can show the right amount of unused memory still available (quite lower than declared by the phone) . Also I cannot see the real size of the RAM memory used by the CPU .

Can anyone help me root properly BLU Vivo 5 MINI? I'm freezed.

Hello all,
I'm a long date not registered user but after tryIng root my Blu Vivo 5 MINI a whole week I've come to the conclusion to ask for your help!
I'll try put all the things and methods I tried to achieve this, but not succeeded.
Device info:
BLU Vivo 5 Mini
Android version 6.0;
Build number: MRA58k
Baseband version MOLY.WR8.W1499.MD.WG.MP.V57.P14
Chipset: MT6580
What I've tried so far:
After enable USB debugging and unlock oem. I uninstalled my antivirus too.
- Tried root with one click programs like Kingroot, genius root, etc. The programs can verify the model vivo 5 mini but can't complete the process.
- Tried root with SP Flash Tool taking the stock rom and replacing the recovery.img by a twrp-recovery.img for chipset MT6580. After sucessfuly flashed and turn device on with power button + volume up button the system displays that's entering Recovery Mode but reset automatically doing a reboot. When I gave up of repeating this and let the device reboot I comes as a reseted stockrom or it soft bricks looping the boot screen until battery end.
- Tried flash recovery.img for mt6580 chipset by fastboot. Made device listed from adb devices, then entered fastbook mode by adb reboot bootloader and flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. At the phone screen displays data transfer status Ok and then when rebooted I get the same flooping error, cant enter twrp because I don't know why and when I let it go I get a reseted stockrom again or soft bricked.
I tried made this last step too doing the adb erase recovery.img and trying again. Tried made before it all some adb kill-server and adb start-serve and also kill the adb.exe process from task manager processes.
Can anyone please, help me? What should I do? Anyone already rooted sucessfuly a Vivo 5 MINI?
Hope you can help me and made me able to use the full potential of my phone.

Don't have a MINI. I found a twrp that was close to my XL2, used Carliv Image Kitchen to unpack it and the stock recovery. Had to redo some files, TWRP building thread shows correct formats and info needed, so read that and adjust for your MINI. Repacked using Carliv then flashed using SPF Tools. Once it worked, I backed up all my partitions then flashed SuperSU.
Once I realized I had all the info I needed to build TWRP, that is what I did.

If anyone still knowing something more, please, share here in the thread
Blu Vivo 5 Mini
For full disclosure I am not a developer so my anticipated apologies for any comments that sound weird.
I got a Blu Vivo 5 Mini for using as a data collection on a field project, expecting it would be OTG compatible. It happens that it is not from out-of-the-box.
I've been trying all sorts of suggestions to root it available on this and other threads but nothing works.
I spoke to Blu this morning and they told me that the hardware in this phone is not compatible with OTG. I am trying to understand what that means. Using OTG checker it only says I am missing the USB Host file.
Appreciate any light on this.
here is how to root the blu vivo 5 mini
I know i am a little late to answer this question
