[Q] Galaxy s3 Smart Alert to S2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys!
I'm new over here, first of all nice to meet you
So, I like the Smart Alert from the S3, which vibrates when you pick up the phone and there is a notification.
Could it be done on the S2? Or is there any app?
Thanks

not sure if this is possible, but you could try BLN with any kernel that supports it (fluxi or siyah i think)
When you get a notification, you're lights of the menu button and back button will light up and stay lighted up. This way you can see if you have one or not.

[Q] Capacitive buttons not lit up

Hi guys
Had my galaxy s 2 through T-Mobile for a few days now. Beats HD2 running TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 hands down.
I've debranded the phone, running KE7 XEU and rooted via chainfire's insecure kernel.
However I've noticed this morning that the capacitive buttons are no longer lit up. The power is very low and needs charging, so I was wondering is this normal? A sort of built in power saving thing perhaps?
I'm not actually running power save mode, but suddenly the buttons aren't lit, however they still work?
Any ideas.
Thanks
Yes, that's normal. Search the settings, you can customize the behaviour.

Thanks for the swift reply.
That's a relief!
I've just put on the Case Mate Tough case and suddenly the buttons didn't light up - thought maybe I'd somehow broken it!
I can see power save settings and an option under display to specify the touch key light duration, but not nothing specifically regarding turning off touch key light power saving mode when battery low. Am I missing something?
Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do. When the power is low the buttons won't light up. For me it's not the end of the world as I know where they are.

[Q] Xperia S Captivate buttons

Hi there, I'm a noob in this forum but I've notice something on my S while i had it for the pass 2 days. Great phone, totally love it.
Its just that usually my captivate buttons would vibrate everytime I press back, home, or menu. For some reason, this feature has been deactivated without my knowledge. It's just bothering me i rather have it vibrate while im going through those buttons.
Is there a setting where i can turn it back on since i cant seem to find it.
Let me know.
Thanks

[Q] Music volume gets lowered when a notification happens, fixed if volume is changed

So I'm currently on RR 2.6.1 with siyah 3.4.1 and pretty much everything works perfectly. There is this one problem I have though. If I'm listening to music and get a notification, the notification plays just fine, but after it has finished playing, the music is very quiet. It will also stay this way until I change the volume via the hard buttons, and actually jumps instantly back to what it was before the notification.
I was also unable to find a solution by search, supposedly I just couldn't come up with the correct search terms. So, anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
+1 i have the exact same rom and kernel and i hate when that happens, also i would love if someone told me how to lower the timeout for the volume notification, like, when you change volume and you are seeing a vid on youtube, the volume pop-up takes a while to dissapear and i dont like that
Yes, I've been looking for the same answer but nothing so far. I've got the same problem that after another apps notification the music volume stays down. I'm running the Slim ICS 4.2 with Siyah 3.0.15. I tried to "unlink" the volumes in the volume option but didn't work.
Help us!
I think it's CM9 issue and since AOKP and Slim Roms are based on it, then you guys will have the same issues.

[Q] XWLS8 stock vibrate during call?

Hi All,
I´ve flashed deodexed XWLS8 stock from here and I am experiencing vibration during call when a new message comes in.
I am not able to disable it even if I have turned off notifications during call.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
The only way to turn off the vibration completely is to select the message app then menu/settings and scroll down towards the bottom till you find "vibrate" butonce you untick it you wont have vibration at all.
I think it vibrates anyway when you have it turned on.
thanks but I don´t think that is right. The setting you are suggesting WILL turn off vibration for that app completely.
I don´t think it should be vibrating when I am speaking to someone else, its very annoying.
Thanks!
If its set to vibrate in settings it will vibrate no matter what.In the latest firmware releases Samsung have changed the system.UI so this could also change the behaviour of things compared to previous firmwares.

[Q] bottom bar light will not go off

Hey all,
So I just flashed MIUI 2.4 to my Galaxy Vibrant and all went well but, when I press the power button or when the screen times out on its own, the bottom bar (the one with the Home, back and options button) light comes on and doesn't turn off. This is causing some serious battery drain and I'm not sure why it's happening... Any thoughts?
Cheers!

there is a feature that uses the button lights as notification lights.
you might try clearing the notifications and turning the screen off to see if its still doing it.
if the lights go out then that's it.
if you want to disable it, I believe the option is in settings (I'm not currently on that rom or I'd check)
