How to Unroot - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently rooted my Galaxy S2 about a month ago but now want to unroot it as I have noticed it has been running a bit slower and occasionally crashing.
However I do not know how to unroot the phone, so please could someone help me. Thanks

Put it under the shower, apply some Dove strong roots shampoo, massage n rinse thoroughly. Dont forget to towel dry it in the end.

root a device canĀ“t lead in crash, the problem may be the kernel that flashed.
try siyah ie and tell us

You can just flash a stock firmware.. also you can reset to factory settings so you can get hold of that "brand new" feel

I want to get rid of the root because the GPS has also stopped working since I rooted. Before I rooted, everything was fine.
But I don't know how to unroot the phone, so please can someone help me. Thanks
BTW, I think I did use Siyah when I rooted. I'm a noob at this so please can you explain how to do everything. Thanks

If you want to unroot your phone and go back to official rom you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and download the official rom for your phone and install it thru ODIN.. . after this if you want you can again unroot your phone by a safer method(odin method).

Go to www.sammobile.com download a stock firmware and flash through odin. But Im sure you can fix your problem without unrooting. What rom and kernel are you on

Ok, I've unrooted my S2 and flashed a new firmware on my device. However when I was rooted I uninstalled the voice talk. This is still uninstalled and my GPS problem is not sorted. I was thinking of installing the voice talk again and return it to Samsung to get the GPS sorted as its still under warranty.
So now I need to install the Voice talk, or is there any way of restoring the whole phone to like new so I can return to Samsung?

And also can i easily unroot it and go back to as it was before?

Using cf.root you can keep the phone as close to stock as possible and have root, you can still get official updates through KIES but OTA downloaded updates seem to be giving ppl problems.
To slaphead20 and burden010 just cause the guy doesnt want custom roms doesnt mean hes cracking games or doing anything illegal. I only rooted my stock rom so I could fully use titanium backup and mybackup pro, plus custom roms arent that far from stock at the moment anyway so give the guy a break.
edit :- I see OP has edited his post maybe he did announce he was doing something wrong.

Thanks and im very sorry people. Will surely read the rules before posting.
If you have only a rooted stock Rom then you should be fine for receiving ota updates. Worst that might happen is you will loose root.

Problems/doubts related to rooting the phone

I was going through threads on rooting, ROMs, kernels and bricking. Before reading threads about bricking I wanted to root my phone but after reading I got scared of bricking my phone which I think is difficult to debrick (unbrick).
Is it really the case that we cannot debrick the phone at home? Is it ok to root with such a consequence?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
All I can say is if you're that worried about it, don't root your phone or flash anything. Leave it on stock & enjoy it.
Is it possible to change ROM without rooting the phone?
And what are the chances of bricking the phone while rooting? And if bricked what is procedure to make it as earlier

use this to root your S2...It is 100% risk free. However use only if u are on ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Also, read everything before u flash a rom/kernel..95% of them get bricked without reading or consulting properly

[Q] I bricked my galaxy s3

Okay so i rooted my gs3 and got through it but then i change my mind about it and wanted to unroot it, that is when i discovered that i couldn't get root access, so i thought "i'll just root it again properly this time" i know so stupid of me. So i found this tut on how to do it right and i used the file from shiyahkernel as listed on the site. So i rooted it in ofin abd got a green pass, but then my gs3 turned on beginning flashing the icon from shiyahkernel and won't stop doing that.
I can still access download mode and recovery mode. I am pretty much a noob so please go in to details
Can anyone help me?

Unroot S3 for Kies update

Hello guys,
I just started playing around with Android/ROMs/etc so forgive me in advance for what probably is a noobish question..
I rooted my i9300 using CF Root, and then tried a few ROMS.
Although, for the time being i decided to stick to the stock. Had it restored through CWM backup/restore function (Nan I believe).
But now, when I try to update it through Kies it says that the firmware version is not compatible.
I checked around and I've seen that I could flash the stock ROM and it would fix, although I would lose everything i have right now.
Wouldn't "unrooting" fix my problem? I mean, from what i can figure out, it's just copying cache.img and recovery.img to my 'boot'?
If so, wouldn't just putting back the stock files 'deceive' to update it?
Thanks a lot!!!

Use triangle away to reset counter, flash an unrooted stock Rom, do a factory reset, that should be or. You will be unroted and original status. Please correct me if I am wrong. There are also a lot of how guides here in the forum and on YouTube!

It was a great idea. Just did that, but apparently the firmware is still not compatible..
I also still see the CWM app in my app list..
Actually, rooting shouldn't interfere with updating via Kies, only OTA. That's what I read. Do you have the correct firmware region?
well its the one that came with the phone, so should be right.
would the cwm cause this? could i put back the original recover

Black screen after boot! HELP (URGENT

Hi, I'm new here so bare with me.
I just rooted my Samsung S3-I9300 hours ago. And I was pumped up, what I did later on is I installed bootanimation and I didn't quite understand how to use it and I still don't, but in the end I got it to work but the logo was too small but this isn't the problem. I entered recovery mode and I don't know what I extracted or installed and I rebooted my device and all I hear is the Samsung booting music and that's all. My screen is black.
Your help is appreciated.

Yes, it is booting. I can see the back button and the options button lit. It's just black.
BUMP.
I would probably wipe data in recovery mode, and last case scenario flash official firmware from sammobile.com.
This will make you lose all your saves and stuff though.
Wipe cache and/or full wipe. If still nothing, reflash ROM. It happened to me long time ago, nothing to worry about.

If you didnt make a backup, yes, use ODIN to flash a stock ROM.
You can find out which rom you currently have in settings/about phone.
Download the rom from sammobile.com and flash with ODIN.
