Hi all!
I have a problem with charging.when I pluged in the charger, the charging LED is always red even if the battery shows 100% it says on the screen "charging" the LED light never becames "green"
any suggestion to fix the problem?
Android 4.0.4
I9300XXLFB
Kernel 3.0.15
SOLVED
Discharging battery completely and charging it while it is switched off solved the problem. charging took 2,5 hours but finally the green light is on.

So how come it shows 100% ?

One charge to 100% remove lead wait 5 plug it back in charge 100% .
Boot to recovery and wipe battery stats .
That fails backup data factory reset phone .
That fails return to a service center .

Wiping battery stats does nothing.

thank you jje,
I discharged completely and its now charging while it is switched off. I will see if this helps or not to solve the problem.
If not, I will boot to recovery and wipe battery stats. I am new at android, I hope I can handle with it.
any risk on boot to recovery and wipe stats?

There is no risk because wiping battery stats in recovery doesn't do anything that the phone doesn't already do by itself.
Battery stats are wiped every single time your phone charges to 100%.

Just wanna ask are you pertaining to the one beside the network bars or the ontification 100%?

I too had the same problem took 8 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, I took the mobile to Samsung service center they found the problem is in battery and provide replacement battery.
I had phone over heating problem they solved it now.

Solution for JB error in charging
Dear pals,
i have been experiencing serious error in concern with charging as u guys face. it never charges in JB or it takes more than 9hrs. there is no solution for it until samsung fix the bug in JB. so the solution we can go for is downgrading JB to ICS. this way ur ICS rom is better and smoother. in Addition the CHARGING is proper in ICS. so downgrade and wait fot samsung to fix bug in JB

Can I get a new s3 battery?
I got my s3 few months back
And I hv recently been facing a problem. I have been using the s3 charger. But it takes forevr to charge. 4 to 6% took around 20 minutes. And also it drains out quickly. I was listening to music today for 20 minutes and I lost 10% charge. This is defnitely not normal. I tried removing the battery and putting it again. Switched it off and on. But the problem is still there. So I want to knw whether I can get a new battery for my phone if I show my warranty card for the phone.

[Q] S2 Thinks its fully charged when it isn't

I recently dropped my S2 into water for a few seconds and following a week of drying out I turned it on to find that everything is working fine. The only problem I have is that the phone thinks it is at 100% charge after being plugged in for a few seconds. On the first charge I left it plugged in whilst showing 100% and overnight it managed to charge fully so that the phone worked for a full day.
Today however, it reaches 100% (after a few seconds) and seems to stop charging any further. I can use the phone whilst it is plugged in but as soon as I unplug it shuts down due to no power.
Is there a way to reset the battery stats or fix this? I'm currently running 2.3.4 stock.
Thanks in advance,
Chris
Reset battery stats .
As you dont know the basics try Battery Calibration from the market .
jje
That requires root access... is there no way to address this without deviating from official firmware?
Try pull out the battery and put it in the hot water cupboard overnight (or blow dry it, but not too hot - it is a battery afterall), then try it again. Could be related to the calibration chip on the battery...
Battery calibration
It has been mentioned in several XDA forums that the SGS2 has a power supervisor chip that manages calibration automatically and doesn't need battery cycling.
You have probably sustained damage to your phone. It wont cost much to try a new battery though but it is a long shot.
Regards,
John.
I'm guessing it's a hardware fault with the charging circuit. I don't suppose anyone can recommend a good repair shop in the UK?
Hi, I am sorry I am using your thread to post a personal question.
I would recommend you to try a different battery though.
The problem I have is similar, but not the same.
When the phone sounds that it has full charged, I unpluged it and it immeadiately changes from 100% to 99% or 98%. After that it uncharges as normal.
What could be the reason?
I calibrated it with the battery calibrator. Also took out the battery after full charge and plug it back on. With no results.
What could I do?

For anyone who's interested, I've managed to fix the problem by doing a full factory reset. To do this I powered up the phone into recovery mode (start whilst holding power, home and volume up) and performed both factory reset and and cleared the cache. Now appears to working fine.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

[Q] Anyone have an explaination to this battery issue?

Hey all
Well this problem has been persistent for a while now, even when I was on my phone pre root and pre custom ROM.
Phone is with Optus in Australia. The problem is sometimes when I reboot the phone(mostly when its at about 50 - 60%) and it starts back up, I end up on about 10% battery and it insist I plug the charger in. All I did was restart the phone and lost 40% battery.
The odd thing is the battery slowly ramps back up, 11%, 12%, 15% and so on, sometimes back up to about 35%
What the hell could be the cause of this? if I don't restart the phone I don't have a problem...
Heres a picture to show what I mean
Does the phone hang at bootup or shutdown? No sign of the CPU chugging away on either?

Nope. Takes about 5 seconds to switch off and about 10 seconds to switch back on.

You can try to claibrate your battery with the app battery calibrator or following these instructions (i would recommend trying both). If it didn't help, maybe send it back to Samsung?
I would charge battery 100% .
Wipe battery stats via CWM recovery .
Charge phone again to 100% and use it for three days thats enough to recalibrate SGS2 .
Still problems you have to try another battery first .
As warranty is now void you will need to unroot restore firmware and zero custom rom counter if you need service .
jje
this is normally. i have the same. just wipe battery stats, off the phone and charge to 100% , unplug the cable, remove battery for 1-2 mins and charge to 100% again.
if i were you, i'll just flash using odin and after first boot do *2767*3855# and let it do couple of charge cycles.... that is full charge use it full charge use it.....
and stay away from any restores for couple days
remember that code will wipe you internal storage
I had the same problem before
but now it is ok
i use battery calibration by neema from market
then watch the voltage it should be 4.200
or slightly less or more then calibrate your battery
I noticed that this was occure after heavy use
and then reboot
after I charged my phone with SE vivaz charger

[Q] Battery used up suddenly

hi,
I recently change from rom IC stock to JB stock (Spain). Every thing is fine except after working with phone for some time & battery used up to 25%, suddenlly the signal drops & phone shuts down. I cannot turn on the phone unless I plug in the charger where my battery is 0%. Also after flashing to JB, I wiped the data in recovery.
Phone is NOT root & battery is brand new.
Thanx

Actually I had the same problem with my old battery. I was advised to change the battery; with the brand new one, I left it charge fully to 100% for 6 hours as per instruction, then turn the phone on as the aforementioned problem occurred again. Again put it on charge for couple of hours to 100% charge then reboot the phone. Right now every thing looks Ok but I am worried why it happened with the new battery. is it the rom or the phone?

charge till 100%, start the app, press calibrate and then unplug your phone from charger. your phone must be rootet.
after calibration use your phone till it has only 1 or 2 % left, then charge again to 100% without interrupt. dont calibrate again.
if the problem still isnt fixed with calibration, try this:

My friend, i can see you have problem with the batery life. I don't know if any of you has noticed this, but when the phone is charging and it reaches 100%, you shouldn't remove the charger. The phone is still charging even after reaching 100%,sometimes for half an hour. If you want to see when the phone is fully charged, go to Settings-About phone-Phone status. In the first field you can find if the phone is or is not fully charged. Try this and let's see what happens. I hope i can help some of you.

Can you post a screenshot from the first battery screen? That one will show which process are using the battery up. In places of the screen shot you posted, it looks like there is a problem with your phone staying awake when the screen is off.

battery is not draining, actually it is showing wrongly .... every time after removing battery it shows actual amount of battery remaining , yesterday i charged my phone several time until it reached actually 95% and then i starts playing temple run, the battery indicator reaches at 1% within 20 mins and then it remains at 1% charged until 3 hours of continuous gaming and then shuts off, then i put it on charging and it reaches 100% within 15%

[Q] Help me to resolve this battey problem.

I got my motherboard changed a few days ago by samsung. Now i am facing a problem with my battery stats. My phone shows only 15% battery even if it is fully charged [Shows 100% after fully charged, but as soon as I remove the charger it again shows 15%] and when i use my phone it drains normally but problem is that after decreasing battery by 15% it automatically switch off.
When I restart the phone, it again shows 15% battery. so this cycle keeps going on till the battery fully drains.
This is the weirdest problem I have seen.
So any one who can help me please give your valuable time to resolve this type of problem.
Thank you.
P.S. I've tried factory reset, Battery calibration, and even flashed the stock rom again via odin.

The problem is with the board, you cant always assure the quality of the board the fix and its compatibility, if u are under warranty, service centre is the best option, first report this issue to samsung and then directly go to service centre and talk with the centre manager, not the mudheads on the reception.
