there are 2 ways ! the wire trick ! to do that go to www.unlimited.io and choose your phone in the instructions and start ! u have to be patient its so hard to get to correct timing from the first time ! it took me 8 to 9 tries to get it right , the second method which i recommend is to search for flashmaniac downgrade tool and downgrade to 1.49.007 , its so easy and then go to revolutionary.io choose ur hboot and start s-off i would recommend the second , but i did the wire trick cz i was on hboot 1.53.007 i had no other choice
Hit the thanks button if i helped

I did the hboot downgrade using flashmaniac's tool. Its very easy, you just have to run 3 steps and your done

More information? I'm going to guess you flashed a rom that's incompatible with your hboot. It hard to say though without any information on your phone or the rom you're having trouble with.

You're new here, so welcome! Let me tell you what we need to know. Firstly, are you rooted? S-on or s-off? What hboot are you running? What ROM are you trying to flash?
I have evo S-ON HBOOT 1.53.007, and i can sucessfully flash 60% of roms at xda (to flash that 60% you must have 4extrecovery touch with SmartFlash). downgrading HBOOT is too risky

If you do bootloader unlock, downgrading HBOOT lasts for 4 secs or something like that xD. And you can install 100% (149% in Russia xD) of ROMs..

If your in a boot loop, just flash another ROM.
Or, you can go S-OFF. It's quite easy if you follow the wire trick.
Wire trick? I wanted to downgrade HBOOT but i cant find any good guide , correct me if i am wrong -> To downgrade HBOOT you must brick your device and then unbrick? Guide to downgrade

I'd follow ramjet's wire trick guide. It's really the easiest way to s-off now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438

I would do what coal said and do the wire trick. It's pretty easy and far less scary than bricking your phone on purpose.
This video is good to watch and you'll see how simple it really is.

[Q] How should I unlock my evo?

Hello everyone, I'm currently using stock andorid 2.3.4 and though I could use custom ROM. My problem is, I found many tutorials to unlock my phone and I don't know now which method I should use
This is list of tutorials I found:
Unlock / Root / S-off
Unlock / Root / S-off hboot 1.49.XXXX / S-off hboot 1.53.XXXX / S-on
Unlock / Root Evo 3D Gsm Hboot 1.49.0011> + S-On (HTC Unlock method)
How to unlock/root/s-off and revert back an Evo 3D(ShooterU)
Revert to hboot 1.49.0007 #4 simple steps (s-off required)
Downgrade and Unlock and S-OFF
S-Off & Root EVO 3D GSM All-Hboot 1.49.0007-1.49.0009&18 S-On+CWM
S-Off & Root EVO 3D GSM All-Hboot with out void warranty
S-Off Hboot 1.53.007 (Rearranged)
Easy unlock/relock/lock bootloader without htcdev.com
Click to collapse
What would you recommend for me? My hboot version: 1.49.0018
Should I use htcdev method or downgrade to 0007? What's the difference?
Second thing, 4ext recovery requires root to install, but to root my evo I need a recovery yes? So, I understand I should use cwm first and then change it to 4ext?
And last thing, I don't need s-off now probably, but can I switch from s-on to off in any moment without problem in case of need?
Is your phone GSM or CDMA?

Sorry, forgot to mention. GSM
Actually, i would also like to know...
I'm on ics, and i want to enter in the world of personalized roms.
I had a Moto Defy, and it was way easier to root and install roms...
I used the HTC Unlock method, it's pretty simple, and for s-off i used "S-Off & Root EVO 3D GSM All-Hboot 1.49.0007-1.49.0009&18 S-On+CWM" this one.
00007 is the best
I had the same Hboot. Downgraded it to 1.49.0007 and did Revolutionary. Everything went smooth and was done in few minutes

S-OFF Revolutionary
Can anyone tell me if Revolutionary tool for S-OFF/HBoot downgrade will work if I'm downgrading from Hboot 1.58??

Need the file for downgrading HBOOT to 1.49, please!

Last night I did the wire trick on my Evo3D to get S-OFF and everything worked pretty well, but I need to downgrade my HBOOT, 1.53.7 to 1.49 (for Jellybean roms) can someone please tell me what files I need to Do it and where to get it. I tried to downgrade when I was rooted s-on but nothing worked (I couldn't even change my Cid...) Anyway now I'm S-OFF, my Cid is HTC__001, in bootloader "juopunutbear" is replacing the "unlocked" text.. I'm currently on YodaICS 8.0 rom...
Thanks in advance..

First off all do the jupunut bear wire trick to get S-off and after this you can run the older RUU with hboot 1.49.xxx with an .exe file or you can flash it from fastboot

Follow this turorial, but instead of downloading the LeeDroid ROM and SU, you can use this ROM which is pre-rooted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202422.
Good luck!

The one and only guide for s-off with the wire trick is here.
You don't need a rooted rom (according the description you don't even should use one).
I've done the wire trick to get s-off on 2 different phones now, there's no need to flash a special rom, just stay stock.
