Hello, is there an app the when I get a message or email sect the screen buttons will flash or light up. Not rooted so it can't be BLN... thanks!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I don't believe you can get the 4 buttons to light up for notifications without BLN support.
You could try NoLED from the market. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but close. It does chew battery though I believe because it keeps the device in a wake lock, at least it did way back when I tried it on my captivate.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify
Might as well just root and flash a ROM that has bln though.

Thanks for the info I guess I'll do without.

Is there any way to make the options button to flash as a reminder that a message waiting? Its been a long time since i had a blackberry but the flashing LED was pretty useful and would save powering the screen

NoLed from the market will make a blinking LED on the screen to let you know of notifications.
Search for BLN. This allows you to use the lights of your back & home button as a notification LED.
If you don't want to mess around with kernels NoLED is the way to go.

Nice one, cheers guys!

Quick question. Does anyone find that their led doesn't blink with non stock apps? Like I have gosms and the led lights up and stays lite instead of blinking same with like yahoo mail. I also notice if I use say lightflow and pick say "blue" for an led color the color will show up "red" no matter what color I select it will show up a different color on the led. I just find this weird.

I havn't had any issues with the Gmail app. But I do know that setting g custom LED settings in certain apps can sometimes make the LED act funny you may want to check settings in individual apps.

Got the same in gosms and Facebook

Uninstall Light Flow and you will be all set. It has some bugs with the S3 sadly. The dev knows about it and will fix it in the next update.

I have read that it is a known bug. Hopefully it gets fixed in the next OTA update.

glad I wasn't the only one and was able to check to see others are dealing with the same. I just got my verizon phone yesterday and it has been driving me bonkers tryingt o figure out why it wasn't working! I knew I wasn't that android ignorant!
Not sure if the latest light flow fixes this, but a brand, spanking new release is out!
I'm looking for a high resolution ring mode toggle widget (similar to Ringer Mode Setting) in black and white, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I'm actually going to tack on two more questions...
1. Can we turn off the notification in the notification bar that informs us of our Wifi status?
2. Is there any sort of hard reset with this phone? Like a battery pull would achieve in older models?

1: I don't think do without root, but there was a post somewhere on how to do it but i don't think it works.
2: hold the power button for like 10 seconds.
I thought about that like 10 seconds after I posted.. Haha. Does it work in recovery /bootloader too?

Anyway to make my phone not wake up when I receive a text? I can't find it in the settings or anything. Im also on Jelly Beans.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
this was the same way on the s3, as well as the note, not sure about other samsung devices. but the answer is no. they made it like an iphone, it will wake up no matter what unless you custom rom it with CM or something pure google like.
Ah, really? Well that sucks lol. Oh well, it's not a guge deal or anything.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
There has to be a setting somewhere in the code that wakes the screen up for these texts. Has to be. It doesn't just do it because it does it.
Someone will find it, and make it bend to their will. Just give it time.

I'm not trolling. I just thought it funny that you stated the obvious, that it is controlled by coding. Any application function is controlled by code
No ill will intended.

I decompiled it earlier to look at.
There is no bools.xml so its going to be in a method.
I'll know more once I locate it.
The method that ive been using is this:
Disable sms notification on the native app
Install sms popup
Uncheck the popup when recieved option on sms popup
Configure the rest of the settings
(500ms for light, 5000ms for off time)
???
Profit.

The solution I found that worked for me was to disable all the notifications in the stock messaging app and have light flow control the sound and led notification. I've had light flow on my other Samsung phones and it's proved to be a great investment. Now whenever I get a text i get my sound and my led lights up red and stays on. much better on battery.

A big reason I want it to not pop up, cause I feel that's why my light flow isn't working cause I have it set so screen on makes the notification go away. I don't always want to have to open the app, but want the light gone.

I too use this method of preventing screen flash on text. A little bit of screen time adds up when you are trying to milk your battery for all its got. Not much a huge deal on this phone though

I just went back to using Go SMS, disabled pop up, and now I have no issues. Light Flow works perfectly now, too.

I can confirm this works on my Verizon note 2 stock root.
I just simple replaced the secmms.apk all rebooted and when I get a text my screen doesn't turn on and I still get the notification light
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=robj.floating.notifications I ran into this the other day and thought wow this works really well espcially for mycolorscreen set up i have curretnly with no status bar or anyting was really liking, i believe this is to replicate the "holo" feature on cm rom's you guys tried this what do you guys think??
So ive seen this out for a while now, and thought it was some cheesey knockoff version of Holo. I said to myself why waste my time. Then seeing this thread, and being bored I just gave it a go. Boy am I glad I did, ive run AOSP roms with holo and its still nothing compared to this. This is like simple multitasking amd they can be hidden whenever! Much better!
Thanks for being the one to make me finally try this out!

Been running it since build 2...big fan. It's great for quick views of emails/text etc when watching a movie or playing a game without having to exit and go to the app directly. You can view the header and then decide if you want to respond or not.
Really good find. can't wait to play with this
I made a youtube video about this when it was in beta stage. The developer is in the android apps and games forum. This is good stuff even for people that arent rooted.

Put myself in hot-reboot city last night. Enabled this in accessibility, rocking Beans 18 and AOSP lock screen - just started hot booting to the lock screen. Touch the lock - cycle repeats. Pulled the notification bar to get into settings and turned it off. It stopped.
I'm guessing AOSP lock screen + Xposed status bar + this checked in accessibility = no bueno.

Same exact set up (minus xposed status bar) and had the same issue with rebooting. Issue started 5 minutes after installing the app and allowing accessibility. Issue stopped after I deleted the app. Gonna try to see if I can change a few things to get it working.

Me neither, but it does! Lol. Trust me. I was eating a queasadilla and didn't see it coming.
I don't think it likes my xposed setup.

The issue is AOSP lockscreen and Accessibility settings. If you're on standard TW lockscreen, there are no problems. Had the same issue with LightFlow previously.
The only thing I have a problem with, and its probably something that cant be fixed is when I get the bubble on the lock screen and click on it ot doesnt unlock. Any fix for this?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
click it and then click the actual text it self should pull the app up or the notification up... if i remember right

Good to know.
I assumed as much, but I love the AOSP lock screen. No lock/pattern AND music controls. Plus, the clock looks cleaner.
How well does this app work without accessibility turned on? Or does it? I flipped it on at about 2 am and messed around for about 15 mins before I started my trip to Las Bootsville, so I didn't get any notifications then.
