Hi....i was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction? I have a GT-I9300, Vodafone UK. The phone was already unlocked from Vodafone. Which firmware do i need to return to stock? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi many thanks. Thanx given! If i download the latest firmware, LG8, will that still work even though my phone was on Vodafone. My phone was never locked. Also, what is CSC?

Hi,
I have an Orange branded SGS2 running the stock Andriod and Kies doesn't let me upgrade to ICS. Message "Your device does not support upgrading via kies", but as I understand it, this is because it has a different Phone firmware. I have been trying to look for the right one, but the links are dead in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 .
When I type *#1234#, it gives me:
PDA: I9100BVKH2
Phone: I9100XXLPQ
CSC: I9100ORAKH2
Now I'm guessing only the Phone firmware is wrong, as my sister has the same phone, also Orange, and her's gives the following info:
PDA: I9100BVKH2
Phone: I9100BVKH1
CSC: I9100ORAKH2
So my question(s), is this the problem? And if it is, anyway I can only update the "Phone" firmware, without having to reinstall everything, if so, anyone got a link to the BVKH1 phone firmware? If no one does, anyway of extracting this from my sister's phone?
And if it's not the problem, how can I solve Kies not wanting to upgrade it?
Thanks!
Search Samfirmware.com for the firmware you're after.

Why don't you get I9100BVKJ4 (with CSC I9100ORAKJ4) from samfirmware.com then? This is UK Orange, and is a higher version than BVKH1.
Or, download I9100BVLPB (with CSC I9100ORALPB, which is also UK Orange) which is 4.0.3, and the one you would likely get through Kies anyways?

I actually didn't know this was possible, thought I'd only be able to using the firmware I had when I received it.. And I'm guessing I'll have to backup my apps using titanium backup as this removes everything right?

Shouldn't remove ANYthing, actually. (aside from root if you have it) These are all non-wipe packages.
It's usually recommended to do a wipe before an install, but you don't have to.
But backing up before flashing is always a good idea.

Sorry, the phone is locked to a network but I have no idea what network it's locked to
I've tried Voda, O2, T-mob, Orange sim... none work.
Cheers!
First clue should be what network did you buy it from .
Locked it may well have network branding on the phone .

Hi.
It's a second hand handset, sadly there is no branding on it at all
If you are on a firmware before lg8 just download voodoo sim unlock from project-voodoo.org to your phone and it'll unlock your phone so you can use it on any network.

Customer Sales Code (Region code). It is information on what region you are, so KIES knows what updates to give you.;

British Unbranded region code.

No. That could be many other things. Does your IMEI match the sticker under the battery?

If you aren't in UK then you may have flashed the wrong modem for your country. Go and read the stickies in general on how to get the right modem installed.

ive changed the modem and it still doesnt work
To change csc you need to return to a lowship firmware, completely stock, use csc changer, it will factory reset and wipe internal sd

yes you can. but sometimes you may face modem problems like "you can't call or text people!" like in XXEMG4. i suggest you to backup efs and then flash any f/w you'd like to.
:good:
Just make sure that the firmware you are flashing is for the I9300 branch. Flashing other firmwares not suitable for the I9300 will well... brick the device.
