They don't increase actually , as oxidil and ph3nom said its totally normal the ink marks/mura effect on the amoled screens. Most probably you look after them all the time. Just forget about them.
i personally think they are annoying and i cant forget them

I don't get .. you can see them only on a complete black screen and in a pitch dark environment, so you always in dark?
Noticed this when I set my brightness low for night time reading. Thought there was something wrong with my screen, but once I found out it was normal it didn't annoy me as much.

Anyone noticed that S3 when used with a black wallpaper, its not totally black? Seems that the backlight is still on for blacks compared to S2 which is totally black.
S3 seems kinda grey with black...almost LCD like kinda black.
Do have a try in a dark room. I was surprised. Maybe you too
Will be interested to try this, that slightly greyish hue to blacks was one of the things I disliked about the Nexus screen.
....
I'll be happy with my screen...because it is beautiful and big.... sorry you guys need to find every reason to b*tch about an amazing phone ... I don't examine my phones screen while it shows complete white or black screens in the dark ... I use it and watch people marvel at it.
No one ever says to me, "that has a yellow tint to it from here"
Why do u guys constantly find things wrong with phones.. at this rate you'll never be happy.

It's called being critical. There are a number of things I dislike about my One X. No phone is perfect and if we're not critical and express our dislikes, chances are HTC/Samsung may not fix them with software updates/newer models.
I'm more interested in the potential black clipping issues like on the Galaxy Note. That was unacceptable.

Amoleds don't have a backlight. Has Samsung toned down the black levels to alleviate black crush and clipping issues?

The true test is to turn off the lights and pull up your contact list. The background should be as black as night. If it is, then your wallpaper isn't really black -- find a better one.

same wallpaper dude. in fact, that is a transparent png. side by side comparison is that there is some sort of backlight in s3. s2 is completely black. Like I previously mentioned, its in a dark room.

can only test it after im home tonight.
just checking if anyone have the same experience.
Both my galaxy s and my s 2 never goes completely black if I watch them in complete darkness. Even when the phone is shutting down and doesn't display anything at all. And strangely enough they emit around the same brightness level. As the phones turn of completely, the hue disappears. Even black areas are being powered and I think it's by design. Or maybe slight component variations.

Ok, thanks for that. My screen is most probably broken then although emahmood87 said that it could be a "feature".
I think that black level is not that great in SGS3 when used in dark room. TBH SGS1 had better blacks.

Do the following and u will see the blotches or black ink drops.
I posted this on the sgs 3 in pakistan thread and one person confirmed the issue :
"Download Paint Pro its free and open a black background which covers whole the screen and then go in a dark room.... Can u tell me if there are any black blotches on screen example the screen will be in two tones of black or is it perfect black... this was an issue with two sgs2 which i had and also with galaxy nexus... The resaon its an issue because when u r browsing the web say late at night with screen filter enabled u can actually see the black blotches...."
Secondly the issue was only in sgs 2, note and galaxy nexus...have owned all these mobile.. its not really a big issue just was annoying sometimes... sgs 1 had no such issue

Interesting thing here is, why does it burn in the status bar? The pixels there are almost never used. It's black all the time.

knowledge:
- Screen burn occurs when a static image is being displayed for too long/too frequently on a display unit
- All types of display have show this problem, but Oled is more susceptible
In your own case:
- the area of the status bar burnt because it's always static, whether you are browsing, or reading, when not in full screen, your status bar is static.
Solution:
- Next time, prevent displaying static image on your device for too long, in case you want to watch movie or read books on your device, always use full screen so as to eliminate, the static status bar.
Happy learning

Because it doesn't burn-in.
Blue oleds degrade at a much faster rate than green and red ones. While the pixels in the statusbar area are switched off, the pixels at the rest of the phone are still on and running. While those degrade, the ones in the statusbar don't. And because of the uneven subpixel degredation the statusbar has a slighty blue tint on a completely white screen.

Thats called a screen burn I have one too, usually it comes from white colour on your screen for a very long time, especially that this is an OLED
See this post has more info...
Tungstwenty said:
Using dark colors, a solid black wallpaper, etc. does help battery, as OLED displays do not have constant backlight. Black areas of the screen will consume less power; there are several articles that talk about it such as this one: http://webdevsys.com/galaxys2-screenBurn.htm

When I open internet white pages or open pure white image from gallery, then I notice that my screen is very very slighly blue-ish tint on lower part of screen from corner,
But when I set brightness to 100% then no tint..
Is my screen is ok,
I don't want to give my new phone to service centre,

Yep. Your display is right. Amoled can't display white exactly. Cause it's a OLED Display, which has Red, blue and green pixels. Those must mix white, but it doesn't work exactly. But Amoled is perfect for great colours...
I hope, I helped you.

If those blue things annoy you, try "Screen Adjuster" from PlayStore, make setting like you want! I would try Red and Green ~5% and Blue ~1-2%... Samsung has set the screen with more blue, cause the lifetime of OLEDs.

Hey OP everyone who has answered to your post, has already said that it's ok, it's a property of AMOLED screeens, there are devices out there which have it and which don't have it. There are only 2 things u can do about it 1. Live with it 2. Get it replaced. If you go for option 1 then that's what you do...live with it and if you go for option 2 then remember u get a device which can be better or worse. :fingers-crossed: other than that it's your decision mate. You aren't going to get answers better than these... I mean option 1 or option 2.... so cheers mate. enjoy ur S3
Actually i have no problem from My screen, i was clearing my doubt,
U also know this handset is very costly, if i invested high money on this, Quality should be fine...
so, thats why...

Use a black image as lock screen wallpaper than lock ur phone, do full brightness and on the screen while on lock screen, u will find white haze spots on screen. This effect is similar to if you glance at the sun briefly then look away and you see spots due to the high intensity of light. Same here, your eyes look at the icons or clock, and the image lingers when you look at the black bit......I don't think it is a conspiracy by Samsung
Personally I can find a lot more things in my life to worry about, so I think you are an extremely lucky person to have time to devote to this!

No. As I said it only appears on a pale background but not on darker colours. Any pale coloured app that opens on top of it, that area can be seen underneath the opened app. An app with a dark colour will cover the area and it is not visible. It's as if that part of the screen is frozen.
maybe hardware issue show in service centre
It sounds to me like it's that infamous oled burn-in case.If you leave a static image on screen for a long time,say,2/3 hours,it'll burn in and stay there as a faint ghost image and you can do nothing about it.Only screen replacement.
Just my 2 cents...
