[Q] Rooted Htc evo 4g lte will not power on - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

My phone is rooted. Yesterday it stopped working. Powered off will not turn on. I tried holding power and volume down to no avail. My pc reads it as QHSUSB_DLOAD. Is there a fix for this will my warranty not be granted because of root. Is there an unbrick tool for windows I don't have linux , ubuntu or mac. Planning on going to Sprint today. Please help. Thanks

I haven't heard of phones suddenly dying like that...did you try to get S-OFF or flash something?

Try this:
http://unlimited.io/lazypanda-s-off-public-beta/evo-4g-lte-unbricker/

Can't use it it's for Linux users. I did a google regarding this situation others have had this issue. I went to Sprint they are going to replace it. Hopefully I'll have it by Monday it pays to have insurance. I forgot to mention this situation happened after using Lazy Panda. Definitley will not venture with that program ever again. Thanks for the replies. God bless.

Downloaded the latest RUU for Jewel, which is the LTEVO. You will find links to the RUUs here in the XDA forum. Just search for RUU. Make sure you have a full battery charge, before executing, and good luck!

It is an executable that you can run on your PC that will bring your LTEVO back to factory stock, when connected via USB. Just make sure you are fully-charged, as there is a power prerequisite check that takes place before the install. Good luck!

RUU stands for ROM Update Utility and, as mentioned above, it basically wipes your phone out and returns it to stock.

I appreciate the info unfortunatley when your phone's completely dead like with no acces to anything unresponsive I mean totally bricked this will not help. Took my phone to Sprint they couldn't get it fixed also HTC has not given them permission yet to fully have acces to their new phones. Hopefully I'll receive my new phone tomorrow or Tuesday. For now I'm back to the old ages with LG Muzic until I get my phone. I am jonesing man. LOL. Again thanks for the help.

Your phone is totally fixable. Do a little research and you will fix it. The thread is in dev

The phone is fixable I bricked my phone about 2 weeks ago. I had to run ubuntu from a live cd and go through the unbrick process. You can bring it back even with a dead battery.

I bricked my phone trying to achieve s off on my EVO. The phone was unresponsive, wouldn't charge, and was basically a paper weight. I downloaded a copy of ubuntu burned it to a cd and ran it in live cd form and used the unbricker and got my phone to work again

Where did you get the unbricker you mentioned? I want this in my toolkit, in preparation for a release of LazyPanda that addresses hboot 1.15 from the latest OTA. Thanks!

Please help guys :-(

I have a big problem !!! I had on my phone root s-off ROM Shooter Beats 1,7 and I flashed CWM 4.0.1.-shooteru via fastboot.
BUT when I was in fastboot USB I was thinking that I will try to have root with s-on on the screen on HBOOT. So I used command that I read in unroot section.
fastboot oem fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 and then reboot bootloader and my pfone is off and I cannot turn it on and dont know what to do :-( I am scared
you need to s-off your device again.using cmd
yes, I know, but I cannot turn on the phone.. I cannot do anything

There is nothing else to do?? :-(
What about warranty? If I cannot get to my phone, HTC cannot know if it doesnt work because of root, right? Do I have a chance?
What about a simple RUU? Just to try, and may it gives you s-on back and hboot and Kernel, so you maybe can boot into fastboot loader

I cannot turn my phone on, I cannot go to bootloader, I cannot do anything. But when there is battery there is little red light on and when I remove battery it goes off. It is not blinking it is just permanent weak red colour (it is hardly to see).
When I connect Evo 3D to laptop, there is a sound that something is through USB connected, but the drivers are not regognized (in system there is only something QHUSB_DLOAD)
I was trying cmd and fastboot reboot and it is waiting for device
I was trying adb restart and nothing..
when I try RUU, it cannot find my device

Did you have recovery? If you do, the problem you ran into might be an easy one.
1. Plug your phone to a power source (Long press the power button for few seconds and see if the light is on)
2. If the light is on, press the camera button (may be few times if first time doesn't work) and wait.
3. The first two steps should have already taken you into the boot screen. If it doesn't, then sorry.

Try to push camera, volume up+down and power Buttonand hold it down for a few seconds and see if the phone boots. Then plug in charger and charge it. So you can see if the battery was dead!
Thank you guys for advices but
1, I tried use RUU and as I said it doesnt find my device (there are not drivers anymore)
2, volume plus camera button and so on.. this problem I solved many times.. it was problem with CWM 5.0.2. but I have there 4.0.1. which has no battery bug.
My phone doesnt work and cannot go on.
I googled little bit and find out that people with Desire HD had the same issue and they sent it to service and got new phone. I hope it will be the same I love my phone so muuuuuuch..
I think the problem is that I would need to get drivers for my mobile to get sdk ready.. but :/

bricked...there are a few reports here that did the same procedure and bricked it too.
I really cant understand why people play with those things although they have no idea of what they are risking.
..i mean, you could have been very proud that you got a device which csn achieve s-off. Thousands still dteaming of it.
Why the hell you wanted to went back to son and root?
If you would read through the forums you should have nitice, that you cant flash custom kernels easily - just with flash img gui. And flashing radios is
Is completly not possible with son.

I know, I read through forum and find out that problem with QHUSB_DLOAD is always dead end. You cannot understand why people do that? I read a lot of topic where people have written that I tried to unroot their phone because of warranty and in finally step - whitesecure flag 3 - it bricked. They do it exactly how it was in "manual", so they have just bad luck.
I want to have s-on because my cable conector was wrong and I was afraid when I won´t connect my phone to computer, I cannot remove root and my quarantee will finished.. But I didnt flash stock Rom because I want to give it on sd card and when my usb cable won´t work, I could just reflash to stock ROM from my backup..
Right now my phone is in service..

Evo 3D seen as QHSUSB_DLOAD, bricked?

Hello, today my phone just seemed to shut down itself.
It's strange, now my PC can see it only as QHSUSB_DLOAD (even if the phone is without batteries), and i can't turn it on.
I removed my SD so that may be the cause (i can't see the sense, but i really didn't anything else).
Any idea of something i can try?

How can I revert to full stock Hboot, S-On, and Re-Lock the phone?

Hello, I have an EVO 3D, running Cool ICS v7, with the htcdev.com unlocked bootloader, and the juopuonut bear S-Off (Wire Trick). My refurb phone seems to be having issues with all of the 4 touch buttons on the bottom of the screen, and works randomly. I have already tried re-installing the ROM, but it seems to be a hardware issue, since it only started a few days ago. Anyhow, im going to have to go to the sprint store, to get my phone diagnosed again, and have them send me a new phone, but I don't want them to see that my phone has been modded, and have them conclude that that is the cause of the problem. I need to know how I can go back to Stock Rom, Turn my S back to S-ON, and relock my bootloader, so that it won't say Juopuonut bear in the bootloader screen in pink highlighter either. Thanks!

From everything I've read, you should be fine if you take it as is. The official Sprint policy is to treat rooted customer's phones the same as unrooted. If you are concerned, you could take it in with a rooted stock Rom but leave it unlocked.

Do you have a link to the source of this?
3 weeks ago a friend brought his in, and they wouldn't order a replacement (even though he pays for insurance) until he brought it back fully locked up.
To OP, backup your stuff, run the 2.17 exe while the phone is in FASTBOOT USB mode. Then use HTC's tool to re-lock the device. and then to turn S-ON back on, do fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 while the device is connected in FASTBOOT USB Mode again.

Bricked HTC EVO 4G LTE?

I am new to this forum and can only post to this section (Assuming I get by this tough spam filter!)
I have the HTC EVO 4g LTE phone and am new to rooting an the like but I was able to root using RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter x64 (1.13. I) did this after 1 week using the phone stock. For 4 weeks I was very happy with the performance with an occasional hard reset. I created 2 Nandroid backups and downloaded the stock RUU believing I could load it should I need warranty service. I seem to see several posts with users having to perform hard resets. I plug my phone into my PC every night for charging rather than the supplied wall charger.
At 5 weeks old I was using an app that organizes apps and saw MIRROR. I knew what is was for but had never used it. When I did it showed my face and locked up. That was the end of my phone. From that point on any attempt to boot the boot loader or normal boot resulted in a boot loop or it would boot the the HTC screen and vibrate. That was it. I could not load Nandroid image or run RUU.
I had the Bestbuy warranty and was afraid they would not honer it because it was booted. They did honer it and I have a new phone which since loaded the new OTA update which as of yet does not have a root method. I also noticed MIRROR is gone!
So now it seems the common thread is the charger? My PC has USB 3.0 which is equivalent to a 1.0 amp charger. (USB 1.0=0.5a, USB 2.0=0.75a, USB 3.0 = 1.0a)
Is charging an issue? I don't want to brick another phone. I really don't beleive that is the cause as I am at stock now and have woke up 2 mornings now having to do a hard rest to get my phone working.
I've left mine charging on all three types of usb overnight with no problems, on both completely stock and rooted, s-off and on custom rom so I doubt its a charging problem. I would guess either a hardware problem on your computer or phone, or you had bad luck and got two bad phones.
Since USB 3.0 is very new standard, I would look into whether or not HTC charging is even supported on USB 3.0 @ 1.0 amps. I have a Western Digital 3 TB USB 3.0 external hard drive, and incompatibility issues do exist.

Try doing an RUU on your computer - google it
Try lazypanda unbrick on a linux machine - google it
I "true bricked" my phone using a spliced usb cable that i wanted to make shorter. Although I can't definitively ever state that an undervolt or surge occurred most in these forums have indeed stated the charger as being finicky and have reported bricks based on the type of charger used. If your phone still turns on in some way whether it be bootloader or recovery or even bootlooping there IS some way for you as the user to do something technical to fix it on your end without outside help I think. My phone however was completely gone no response from buttons or lights whatsoever. People have told me I fried the battery so if anyone feels they have done this don't get rid of the phone just yet but invest in a battery and try replacing it. I posted my "dead" LTE to ebay for sale at $150 when I paid $400 thinking it was beyond repair. Someone snatched it up before I could get the info from users and take down the auction. I must say this is the worst hardware issue I have ever heard of on an HTC device which is a shame because visually the phone is stunning.
get familiar with adb. download android sdk to your computer and run cmd in the windows start menu. Type adb devices and if your phone is plugged into the computer it should find it. If it does try adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery. If either of them work go into recovery and reflash your rom / nandroid. Welcome to the dark side of the force.

I was in the process of relocking my phone to update RUU to then S-Off. Everything when well allegedly with the relock. During the reboot by the system it stuck in a bootloader. I am not sure what I should do. Push and OTA firmware though or what....Any thoughts? I am also not sure how long my phone will stay charged, maybe I can power it down to charge?!!??!
Do not power down. What do you see when you type fastboot device? Captain throwback and om4 are really good at this troubleshooting. Hopefully one will see this soon.

If you already ran the ruu, run it again. Sometimes the ruu stalls for whatever reason and needs to be run a second or even third time. Accepting the ota will not work unless you flash the stock recovery and have a rom close to stock
The good news is that you are not bricked if it boot loops. Brick is dead , no lights, no nothing just dead.

My EVO just randomly bricked itself! wtf

WTF, so about 2 hours ago my evo just crapped out. Its S-off running Flex360s 1.72 rom. I was at the store and pulled out my phone, I hit the power button and nothing would happen. When I got home I noticed its stuck at the splash screen with no backlight. Held the power button till it restarted and it would vibrate and bootloop till it eventually get stuck at the splash screen. The whole time the backlight being off. It can go to bootloader but its like frozen and even then the backlight is still off. Too bad I cant pull the battery, also it will not just turn off

You are not actually bricked since your device turns on and shows some responsiveness when doing so (i.e. bootloader) My phone is ACTUALLY BRICKED meaning it has no response of any type whatsoever. If you can successfully boot into bootloader then you'd want to select "fastboot" then run the Jewel RUU from your PC. You'll need all the necessary fastboot drivers installed beforehand.

bring it to best buy, you will get a loaner phone for 3 days and then get the new one. whats nice is there people at geek squad dont know how to check if the phone is even rooted, also you get the new one before the people get the broken one.
