So, you get faster location with gsm data than WiFi? It is built so. That's what I understood from there.

Hello,
Ive just bought SGS2 and a few hours later I bought Sygic Aura from the market. I downloaded map for my country and... Gps is not able to catch fix. Ive tried with google maps, also very inaccurate reading. I downloaded gps test from the market and 20 meteres accuracy is obtained in a few seconds. What can be a problem?
Does it mean that Aura does not work with SGS2 or Gps does not work properly?
any suggestions?

Either or both.
First step is to lock satellites GPS test.
Followed by let Google maps find position .

Same for me.
Normally I get 8-20m of accuracy
As 8 meters can be acceptable, the biggest problem is that Aura cannot even work. I have tried for 30 minutes to get fix with clear sky without any results.

Even without being very happy with the accuracy of my SGS2 (fluctuating between 8-20m as I told before), I don't have any problem with Aura navigator.

8m accuracy is more or less the best you can get with GPS, please understand that the reported accuracy is an estimated limit of the accuracy, and the position is often better than 8 meter off when accuracy is reported as 8 meter (but you cannot be sure of course). This is simply the limitation of the GPS system.
So an accuracy between 8-20 meter is really good for any GPS receiver.

My device just got alive, On the way to Warsaw the gps just by it self started to work, and to get the most fun, it didn't loose the signal even on one sec.. in the 1 km tunnel on the start in my home town(Where I previously couldn't get a signal for few seconds)...
I can understand very bad weather, but today there has been all day the same weather conditions(getting slightly worst in the end)....
Can someone tell me that is the problem ?
GPS is a very important utility in my phone, as I'm always using it where ever I am.
I love my G2 (d802) but it became apparent after I purchased it that the GPS is not up to par. As I use navigation software a lot this was very important to me.
I believe there are 2 issues
1. Hardware - The sensitivity of the antenna appears poor. There is not much you can do about this although I have seen one fix on YouTube.
2. It has a problem with the injection of AGPS data. (As a rule of thumb if it is taking longer than 30 seconds to get a fix under clear sky then AGPS data is not being utilised)
On my device I have managed to get the GPS working adequately with a couple of fixes.
The first is to use Tytung's AGPS injector widget. I have it set to inject AGPS data every six hours. This is probably overkill and once a day should be sufficient if you are worried about data use. (Tytung was the dev who got the gps libs working properly on the HD2)
It can be found here on Playstore.
The second was to use Derek Gordon's AGPS patch (Info and links to XDA threads here). To make things even easier he has now released an app called TopNTP. Don't be afraid to experiment with the various configurations until you get one that works well for you. I have used his patch on a number of devices in the past and have never had issues with it. Just make sure that you make a backup on first use of the app.
To test your GPS's functioning I recommend GPS Test. In fact if you do not want to use Tytung's app to automatically inject AGPS data you can do it manually with this app.
Thank you very much.
Testing on LS980 and report soon.
GPS is the biggest flaw on this device (and maybe also phone signal).
Will try these steps and see how it goes.
I get a GPS fix within 30 seconds, but I keep losing the fix while driving in the car. Very annoying.
In my D806 KK the gps work PERFECT.

Yes this is pretty much the issue I would have. This fix seems to have vastly improved that.

My guess is that the fundamental issue is with the antennas. The hardware fix I have seen involved readjusting these.
If it's a quality control issue in production then some people will get units that work perfectly, some not at all and many in between.
This fix will improve things for those in between by getting the most out of what they've got.
For me that means it now works adequately but not perfectly.
For example I still have a very slow fix indoors. Prior to using the fixes I had none.
If I compare it with other devices I have access to. (2 Samsungs , a levovo and a couple of old cheap Chinese GPS units they all still beat it heads down unfortunately.

Tried this fixes and I don't see any change really.
Inside buildings is where I have a problem. Outside no problems finding my location quickly, but not perfectly accurate.

You should not be concerned trying to get a GPS lock inside a building.. What are you trying to do? Map to the other side of the mall?

I know it's not really essential, but my Nexus 7 2013 and SGS3 can find my location inside my house and the G2 can't.

Do you have the location settings set to "High Accuracy"?
Has anyone checked if on 20F the GPS works better?
For anyone who is interested in the hardware fix I mentioned in the opening post you can find it here

Bored of problems and fixes, I started from zero, flashing a 20F kdz and then Cloudyflex 2.5. Huge improve in adquisition (less than 15 seconds in cold start, and instantly on hot) without any fix or trick. Maybe a little less precision.
Try it.
I have a v10 and noticed that the antenna to the gps is on the back cover. There are metal prongs that connect to the back cover when you place the cover on. Try to lift the connectors so that the connections occur better. That fixed my gps after all the settings and software stuff were failing to fix my gps.
Hi,
My G2 Mini takes a few minutes to lock the GPS, and when it does, it always loose it quickly.
I use the stock ROM.
I read that it might be a problem with the antenna connections, but I'm not sure where to find the antenna?
Should I take the phone apart for this?
Any other ideas?
I'm really lost
Thanks
Same problem here. Using Sygic GPS navigation app and can't find proper signal indoors or outdoors. Stock ROM, no root.

Nope, seems to be a hardware issue, not software, tried here maps, same problem
I thank god that I own a lumia 620, I have coverage also in tunnels, it’s an amazing gps device.
Awww crap! I wasn't aware of this issue, I'm a heavy user of GPS, I thought I could leave my other phone/tablet whenever I leave.
There's another similar thread here:

If someone else finds a fix for this, do post! Thanks!
I haven't really seen any posts here regarding this but has anyone found any solutions to help with the GPS issues on the Note 10+ 5G?
I've been searching too........why is this even an issue? $1300 flagship phone should have this basic function working!
I have this phone, but what issues are you guys having?
Try using Waze and then get back to us. Everyone is having GPS issues with this phone. Some are worse than others.

I have an issue with mine as well both Google Maps and Waze are affected. My GPS eventually catches up but it can take as much as 5 min for that to happen.
