Hi folks,
I am interested in starting freelance android application development. I have a year of experience in developing android applications and background services. It was only recently that i decided, I needed to make some money using this skill, but unfortunately I'm from India and hence i cant publish paid apps to the market. Also, you guys are the best source of ideas for apps. So start demanding your ideas here and i could get down to realizing the best ones. I don't plan to charge for the applications, but donations would be welcome. Of course, that would come into the picture only once i have the apps ready for you.
Looking forward to your demands.
Regards,
manrock

Sorry I'll keep that in mind
There's an entire huge thread full of app ideas. It's not been active lately that I know of, but I'm sure some of the ideas are still good.
If you don't get much response here, see if you can find the thread. If I can find it I'll post it here for you.
For more recognition, I'd change the title of your thread to show that you're looking for app requests. More people with an idea for an app will open this thread with a better suited title.

It's a silly idea... Why don't create a manual/guide for android phones?? I explain: an app with subcategories and sections for model of phone With XDA guides (how to root, change bootanimation, etc) periodically updated.
Just an idea

Hi guys I haven't found a topic yet where to find an installation guide for the first release candidate of CM9
I'm new to roms installation and I was looking for a detailed guide or someone that explain me how to...
I'm running a stock kernel, a stock rooted rom (ics 4.0.3 xwlp7) and I haven't installed the Cwm I have it in the internal storage memory and I have to flash it every time I need to use it
That's all
My questions are:
I need a particular kernel? How to change it?
I need Cwm installed or I can leave it like it is now?
I need doing or I can just flash it from the device?
Thanks

Well, I think if you can't figure out the answers using the search function, and opening a thread for this in the original development section it would be better not to install CM9...
Have you even tried to Google that? C'mon, there are so many guides out there! Don't be that lazy! Oh, and next time write in the right section.

Use the noob proof odin method. After that you may update to a nightly of your choice (or rc1)...

I don't think you should be flashing ROM's if you don't know how to even get CyanogenMod on your phone.

Read and figure it out on your own. If you don't, you're going to be dependent on other people the whole time you do anything to your device. It's your device, do some research on your own.

THANKS A LOT,
MOST OF YOU HAS BEEN ESSENTIAL,
JUST A THING:
IS A COMMUNITY OF ANDROID USERS? YES YOU CAN THINK AT IT AS A COMMUNITY
IN A COMMUNITY, THERE ARE PEOPLES WHO CAN HELP AND PEOPLES THAT NEEDS HELP?
YES
WICH OF THE TWO YOU ARE?
A PERSON THAT NEED HELP? I DON'T KNOW YOU BUT MAYBE SOMETHIMES U NEEDED
A PERSON THAT HELP OTHERS? CLEARLY NOT.
I'VE DONE IT BY MYSELF, I FOLLOWED A GUIDE I FOUND REALLY CLEAR,
IT HAS BEEN QUITE SIMPLE? YES
THANKS TO THAT PERSON
WHEN I CAN I ALWAYS GIVE HELP, THATS WHAT WE SHOULD DO
THATS WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ACTIVE AND A PASSIVE USER

Typing in all caps is not helping you get your point across.
This is a community, yes. But it's supposed to be a community of developers and hackers. Or at the very least, people who come here wanting to research and learn. But since everyone and their mother now joins and expects to have information spoon-fed to them, it's become a community, as you said, of "users"; i.e. people who simply use.
My point - the information you were seeking could have been found with a search. Rule #1 of the forum rules is:
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

Hell, the instructions for installing CM9 are - surprise, surprise, in the CM9 thread. The same thread that had links to download it. You clearly were able to find it to download it, so did you just skip over the instructions on how to flash?
Give this a read.
Writing in caps doesn't solve anything, you were told what you should have been told, not to discourage you but to save you bricking your phone.
If you can't read few stickies, can't read few threads, that's what you will get.
Read them, than ask and you will be surprised how many will actually help you.
i was not doing controversy, caps was not intended (working i have to use it)
I was just saying that if someone needs help you could at least direct it in the right direction, instead of always criticizing that's all I know how to use the "search" but obviously I did not have any clear answers to my questions that's why I opened a topic in hopes of getting answers. I've had no answers, I had to assume and tests.
fortunally everything went well
Its suppose to be a community of android developers (note: The name of this website!!!)
No one is required to help another person, they choose to help. Some people were nice enough to post guides, faq and etc. The majority of all questions or problems asked has an answer or solution posted. It is the responsibility of the user to search and read them.
Any new users should read the stickies FIRST before posting. Every one of your questions has answers in the stickies. If people dont bother reading guides and faqs, they have a higher chance of ruining their phone.
As you said, there was a guide, you followed it and solved it yourself. Why didnt you simply search for it, BEFORE you posted this.
Can I delete the widgets off my phone as I never use them? My phone is rooted if that helps but any help would be appreciated thanks

Yes you can delete them, they're apks as any other app, go to system/apps with a root browser and delete the widgets you want.

......What exactly is the point of your post?
If it wasn't for the help of all the people that not only help answer questions, but also help keep the forum tidy, this place would have descended into chaos, the moderators would be having nervous breakdowns and people like you would be whingeing and moaning.
If you have a problem with another user, take it up with the mods......I'm sure they would be happy to laugh in your face

You are funny, did you read the whole thread. The user that said this is in wrong forum. And the guy got his answer so that guy doesn't need this THREAD now that he got his answer. I actually thanked the one that said " system/app to be exact " since he corrected the mistake. You had a huge misunderstanding with what I wrote haha, still laughing

how does this happen ?
I want a bunch of widgets to not appear anymore when I search through my widgets.
(They just make me scroll more.)
Do I just delete the associated apk and then reboot?
Can I just rename them (e.g. .apk.old) so I can get them back ?
thanks,

For those who will hang a new user out to dry, shame on you. If i was to look for the info, the first place I would look in the Q&A, Because I HAD A QUESTION... And this is the place to ASK QUESTIONS!!! You could have been nice and simply pointed the way, without the sarcasm..

The reason why the moderators have made these are because if we keep the thread size as well as new thread count to a limit unless it is absolutely necessary, it saves costs of the server as well as saves band width. I hope you are matured enough to understand that

It has got not nothing to do with being a moderator. As a user of a free site and probably the best mobile tech site in world - it is everyones responsibility to keep the site as much clean as possible.
And just one thing - see the "Are you a noob" video....

Hmm a question has been asked in the Q&A section. Q&A to me, it means Questions and Answers. If the Mods didn't want this question to exist, then they can just delete it. No need to make it longer with dumb responses, like yours or mine. A simple

Would have all that was needed. This way the thread would have had only one reply. And not enlarge the thread anymore. Now the thread is getting larger and larger, going where it didn't need to go. So if you was a mod, delete this post. Delete this thread, chase all newby's away, so all you have is old members. And plenty of the good ones will go somewhere else. I use to come here a lot, long time ago. When I mentioned to some of my friends that I still use it, they said "What? XDA has been taken over by those whinny, little tech babies. Why go there? take a look here......" Which I think I will do.
Stop the fighting. OP, you should have your answer. To the others, no need to attack each other over such a little thing. Teach the OP what to do, and move on
Hi All,
Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong section.
I am 100% new to android development and in fact not a developer at all; which makes it even trickier
Could someone point me towards a customer feedback app. By this I mean a very (and i mean very) simple feedback form that is customisable (what questions are asked, look & feel etc) for to "play" around with?
Any help in this matter would be kindly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced

I did apologies if this was in the wrong section as i was not sure which one it should be in.
Basically looking for a app that could be given to people after a presentation for them to write down their views and answer some questions about it. But at the same time i want to start learning Android development so it would be a learning curve for me as well. The app would be installed on a android tablet device as well.

I don't know if any app like you want, but you should check out SurveyMonkey.com . It's a website that allows you to send people simple questionnaires and view the results. From past experience, it works on Android's browser and is easy to navigate on it.
