Urgent need help, not getting service - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hi I have a galaxy note i1717 running ics on the ucle2-cl526350 kernel, I got this phone factory unlocked for tmobile. But I was getting edge speeds so I put in the tmobile modem through cwm. After it rebooted I got no service and when I went to change my apn it said to insert a sim card even though my sim was already in. So I reverted back to the old att modem thinking it would fix it, but it didn't. What can I do to get my service back. Please help and thank you

Had this happen before. Try restoring a nand. If not that then flash a modem for att then flashing another rom. Pretty sure restoring nand will do the trick. I was freaking when it happened since I didn't want the wife thinking I broke my phone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app

Yeah. A restore or re flash of the rom should do it. Sucks tho. If i try flashing a different radio later. It dies again. Never happened on Gingerbread.

Wetted vibrant with only one odd problem?

I have a vibrant that got wet now I have 1 odd issue. When is sim card is in it acts as if you can get no signal (cellular), but pull the sim out and it maintains a steady signal. I wife and I have twin vibrants her sim card works in my mind is not working hers (hers got wet and is one with the issue) . Now that said everything else in the phone works fine even wifi. I've even have been able to root add in a custom rom. now my question is, is there anything I can do to bring this vibrant back to life or am I stuck with a vibrant ipod touch?

This is semi related
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073929
In terms of getting the phone back to "like new"
Any other ideas? Some way to do a full reset or something? The wetting happened over 2 months ago and everything else works perfect. But it just can't be used as a phone.
Sent from my T959 using XDA App
Switch the SIM cards around to see if it is SIM card related. It might have just messed up your SIM card and not the phone itself.
Did that. The sim from the one that got wet works in other vibrant and other phones, but neather sim works in the one that got wet.

Did you try Factory Resetting and wiping data? You can also try ODINing back to stock but I think you've already done that. I think if you delete all your data, it might work fine. Make sure you back it up though.
So it sounds like your sim slot is toast.

I don't know for sure but with sim in you can do wifi calling but no cell signal.

Go to a repair place and get a new SIM slot or something

I don't think I did a factory reset. Just rooted and installed project V. And am pretty sure I did not Odin to 2.1
So that maybe my next option.

*cough* The post about bleaching the indicators wasn't saying you should commit warranty fraud, but... I'll leave the rest open to interpretation
Lets just say the ethical thing to do is buy a new vibrant at full unsubsidized price.
And on the flip side imagine if your phone just suddenly stopped working one day without getting wet. In that situation you walk into t-mobile and say wtf man.
If both of those are too extreme, replace it with a used phone?
No "full reset" can fix physically fried hardware.

I think my ATT Note is fried from trying to make it work with t mobil

Pro's please help!
Well, really do not know what to do now.
I started off by unlocking phone, then I installing CWM with Odin, I then installed saurom v7 and then Modem t989, Did everything the instructions said about wiping data before installs. Now phone just freezes after booting up. changes pages, but real real slow and keeps restarting. I then tried installing ICS, the phone works much faster and does not freeze, but now it does not find the t mobil sim card.
So, I tried to restore phone using Odin with a att restore file I downloaded at: http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...brick-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-android-2-3-6/
Phone is real slow and keeps locking up, nothing works.
So what do I do now. Phone was brand new in the box as of this morning.
Please help, real frustrated.
Swap it out or call warranty
Install CWM and then factory reset. Wipe data 2 times. Clear cache 2 times. Clear dalvik cache.
Install the stock att tar file from this address with Odin:
http://m-s-j.net/dagnarf/pda-odin-att-stock-kernel.tar
Make sure the only thing checked is auto reboot. And make sure you're using PDA.

Well call warranty and tell them its not functioning properly. Tell them you've had it over 30 days and they'll send a replacement.
The phone worked perfect out of the box in the morning. I tried the fix of using Odin to put on the ATT kernal, but the phone never started after 10 minuts.
Is there a fix to get ICS to read the sim card?
Right now it says no card is loaded.

Lmao, I didn't suggest he commit fraud and please don't tell me about these blood sucking cellphone companies. They charge you $35 to put a phone back in the stockroom even if its defective. I returned my original Note and got charged $35 even though the phone was clearly defective. I didn't sweat it because I just called at&t and they refunded the fee.
Or purchase from Best Buy since there is no restock fee.

Go back to stock by flashing with Odin like the above post mentions and start over and take baby steps. Maybe root and flash the modem just to get it working on your carrier...

[Q] unlocked rooted i717, won't read sim

I have had this phone unlocked for several months now. It worked just fine on tmobile edge. This morning, I wanted to upgrade to 4G, and went to this forum and rooted with odin3 1.85 installed tmob stock boot, and tmob system then flashed blaze modem. No sim. Flashed uvlg3modem, no sim. Flashed all the available modems, no sim. Factory reset, no sim. emergency calls only. did have the android process.acore has stopped, but after the factory reset, went away. Went to tmob store and got a new sim. Still does not read a sim. Was working just fine until i rooted it, and flashed the modem. I have searched the forum until i'm ready to smash this phone. any help????
How long did you wait before you freaked and started flashing different modems? Do those modem files have att i717 anywhere in the file name? Flash the T-Mobile again and do not flash a radio. What happens?

After the first one didnt work, i went on and flashed all of them one at a time. the thread stated that if one didn't work, flash the others. And, no, they were all tmob. I have flashed blaze and uvlg3 twice each. I did blaze before I installed the tmob system on odin

Unlocking is permanent.
You should test your sims in another phone - they can go bad.
You should return your phone to stock and test your verifed sim card - the sim card slot can go bad. Its a warranteed repair, but only if you have a stock rom.
tried to take it back to stock, now, it says that calendar.process has stopped, and goes through with other things until it just freezes.
Are you flashing after wiping everything in cwm? If you are having issues with things crashing, factory reset should take care of the issue.

I seemed to solve the no sim issue, however, it is running really slow, and different processes keep stopping. system process, android process, ect. I have installed the att stock files and went back to the tmob, and that still doesn't fix the issue. I can't get into the settings through the phone to do a hard reset, everything fails before i can get there. the process com.android.phone has stopped. idk what the heck is wrong with this thing. all we wanted was to get 4g. man, i really screwed this thing lol.
Ok, heres whats going on now. I have fixed the sim issue, and the process issues. I reset my phone to factory. Now this is what i have on it:
tmobile system, stock boot, and icsblaze modem. I have 5 bars, and pick up tmobile, on 4G. Factory reset and icsblaze modem were the keys. I had the uvlg3 modem but it was causing my phone to crash. So, I deleted that modem, and put on the blaze, 4G works great. Thanks for all the help.
You are welcome. Its not always an exact science. I also had issues with different modems and always had to return back to stock Tom image.

Hey, can you explain how you fixed your issue? Thanks.

Help fix 4G :(

Im going to explain this problem in a depth as i can.
I am s-off'd via jtagged, rooted and have twp recovery. I am on newest radio running NOS M7 v2.0.3
I can only connect to 3G for some reason with it reading eHRPD.
i do not know if it was reading this before i started the process of rooting since i never turn the phone completely on once i got it back.
So after some reading and advice i downloaded LTE on off to force 4G
It worked but at the cost of losing my mobile network causing me to not be able to make calls or send out text but i have 4G i can get on the internet.
Atm i am plagued with having 3G and service or using 4G w/o service... and this is a problem.
Also while on 4G it reads RSRP if that helps.
Idk if this is a hardware problem from me getting my device jtagged (which would suck since that means im stuck with it) or if it can be fixed.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated since im getting annoyed

As far as RUU to stock and seeing if I was on LTE I already did all that. I was almost looking into build.props but I assumed that wouldnt work either. So guess I'm just stuck on 3G unless it randomly wanna come back which I doubt unless somebody comes up with a solution besides just getting a replacement.

Correct they are free, but the guy I tend to see at the Verizon store always seems to launch that hboot screen everytime I go in there. He did when I had the SIM card swapped earlier in the year as it would disconnect from my network several times a day. So I just want to be on the safe side.
I had my SIM card replaced twice on my resound and both times went to the store without relocking the bootloader or anything. Didn't have any issues. They programmed the new card and I was on my merry way. Maybe call em first and without giving any of ur account information ask if u can get a new SIM card if uv rooted ur phone. It would suck to go thru that process if it's not necessary but I can certainly understand the better safe than sorry approach. The phone call would definitely be worth the time though imo.

I think it was resolved after I flashed my radio and then I went back to stock just in case I have any more issues in the next week. As if I do I will go back to the Verizon store and swap out my phone. But I'd rather be S-ON in case that happens and be that way for a bit. Plus I wanted to test the S-ON for future purposes of in case I needed to get back there I knew how to.

Try putting your Sim card in someone else's phone that has LTE. If they only get 3G, it's your card. Of they still get 4G, it's something else with your phone causing the problem.

In my phone status it says I'm on CDMA - eHRPD:14, I believe this indicates I truly am on 3g. If it were 13 it'd be 4g. I think I have that right. I haven't come across much that's helpful although it seems this isn't that rare of an issue. Trying to fix as much of it as I can on my own. I've yet to revert back to stock. Have tried going to Beanstown, that did more harm than good (broke sms and didn't go to 4g).

Beans ROM is basically stock if you went to that and still didn't have 4G then there is something wrong with your phone. Try the dialer fix (Dialing the number posted above) and if that doesn't work I would start thinking about a warranty replacement.

Most likely would have happened anyways. Rooting and ROMing don't touch the modems that control your cell signal.

NEVER *228 a 4g Verizon phone. It will and most likely burned up your sim card. *228 is not compatible with 4g devices.

Lesson learned. Did it on my galaxy nexus all the time without issue.

This happened to me. I ended up getting a new sim card and that fixed the problem.
Try putting your Sim card in someone else's phone that has LTE. If they only get 3G, it's your card. Of they still get 4G, it's something else with your phone causing the problem.

This alone did not work...however, I got a new sim card after doing this and I'm back on 4g. Got fixed a bit ago but was unable to post. Thanks for the help. No 4g was bugging me, but unfortunately it means I'm stock for the time being
