Howdy,
Nothing too special here, just a clean (no "tweaks" and no bundled crap), snappy and stable port of MIUI4 v2.7.27 for the Xperia Play. There probably won't be any new versions of this since its 99% perfect, in future I will mostly be working on LuPuS UI (MIUI4 with Jellybean base) instead.
This is suitable as a daily driver. If you are interested in a faster, yet experimental port of MIUI, check out LuPuS UI (MIUI4 on CM9, soon to be MIUI on Jellybean).
Changelog/Features:
v1
Initial port of MIUI 2.7.27 for Arc S based on MarkPhyton's stock 4.0.4
Volume+ mod via separate flashable ZIP (enables holding volume to skip music tracks)
Updated video codecs
Updated Google Play Store
Fixed USB M*** Storage (kernel issue)
Updated preset APN database (from CM9)
LuPuS bootanimation
Using stock Camera (MIUI Camera for Arc S not portable)
Busybox updated to v1.19.4
Timezone/DST info updated to 2012b (was 2011l)
Removed lots of useless stuff left over from stock ICS
Compcache enabled at 10% (stops many games from crashing)
Sorted out the default launcher layout
Working:
Camera, Calls/Data/MMS, Location, ALS, Proxy sensor, LBE Guard, built-in screenshot (Menu + VolDown), Torch (hold Home on Lockscreen), everything not listed below.
Not-working/issues:
Comp*** (no idea how to fix it)
Touchpads in some games like Dead Space and Dungeon Defenders (works in all others I tested)
Built-in Wifi Tether (stock ROM issue, couldn't be bothered trying to fix)
Screenshots
Just one to show it works, couldn't be bothered making more - everything else looks like normal MIUI.
Download/Installation:
Flash stock .62 FTF if needed via latest Flashtool (will erase all userdata, if you have any problems this is needed every now and then)
Download and flash via fastboot LuPuS ICS Beta kernel (do NOT use DoomKernel, it will break root). Grab the Wifi fix/module ZIP too.
Download LuPuS MIUI v1 and install via DoomLord's Modified CWM-Recovery, also flash Wifi modules you got from LuPuS ICS kernel. Manually format data and cache if moving from another ROM.
Optional - install Volume+ mod via DoomLord's Modified CWM-Recovery (enabled hold-volume to skip music tracks) (This ZIP is only for MIUI v2.7.27 Arc S and ports based on it like this ROM)
Boot the ROM and let it settle for a while for the MediaScanner (and built in screenshot function) to kick in. This is a stupid stock 4.0.4 bug (doesn't have this problem on LuPuS UI), keep checking Gallery/Music to make sure things are appearing before using the phone). This is only needed on a fresh install/factory reset.
wedgess, just make a new thread for your stock kernel when it's up I don't think I'll work on this any more, I don't know how to fix the small remaining bugs (logcat doesn't tell me jack).

Currently the same as DoomKernel ICS v3 (max 2016MHz) just with autoroot removed, changed bootlogo to LuPuS, and Aroma Filemanager set to Vol-Down on vibrate trigger. This kernel should work with any stock-based ROM's, but we had to remove autoroot script for MIUI.
We wanted to but CWM6 Recovery in there, but nandroid backup keeps crashing with this RAMDisk and I need to research it more... probably needs other binaries updated.
So this is the same Rom like sechko's only a bit ligher?
Great share!The screenshots not showing.

Yes and No, i built it on my own research based on LuPuS UI and CosmicUI, with thanks to whats-his-names' FAQ on MIUIv4 porting (though it wasnt hard, bin and libs from stock, everything else MIUI no framework modding necessary). And yeah lighter I guess, clean port with no extras/mods apart from background and bootanimation. Its my daily driver now.
I'll release my kitchen in a few days and put it in post #2 if anyone wants to learn, though its nothing special unlike my previous ports.

Contacts sync with google works fine for me, I don't have any VCF files to import so I can't fix that. Did you wait a few minutes to let Mediascanner finish and then reboot? The VCF issue might be MIUI bug, not many people use that feature....

I'll try resetting and install, then wait and then reboot.
12 hours in the only issue I have so far is that it often comes up with the "no sim card" error, which takes multiple reboots to resolve. I've had this issue before on some roms, but not on all.
Other than that it works great. I love how it's not burdened with bloat like many of the other roms. I'd just like to see the sim card issue resolved or have a workaround provided if possible.
Thanks!

Keep checking Gallery and Music, once it starts (after a few minutes) it doesn't take long to fully populate. When it stops adding stuff then it's finished

Seems to be one of two (or both) things: (1) You have special characters in the VCF file, or (2) The VCF files are using an extended format with tags that are not in the VCF 2.1 standard.

Try installing "Google Pinyin IME" from the Play Store, looks like it's crashing because of Chinese characters in your contacts. I didn't rip anything out of MIUI relating to chinese so it might be a bug in miuiandroid.com port =\
If you are Chinese, I could try building a pure original MIUI ROM for you which might work? But there will be no English at all.... EDIT oops, singapore maybe it's singapore characters causing the crash.... hmm..... never seen languages cause a crash like this before =\

xRegrets, please try multilanguage addon from here - http://files.miuiandroid.com/2.7.27/miuiandroid_lang_LT18i-2.7.27.zip
It doesn't have Singapore, but it might fix the crash. Let me know if it breaks the ROM or not

Super-lightweight stock ROM with minimal tweaks.
Also, it's fast. Did I mention it's fast? Maybe not in benchmarks but it's very snappy and smooth in actual usage. You won't believe it unless you try it. In fact, this is the ROM that I've been using since I made it 2 months ago.
Q: "Is it just a stripped ROM?"
A: Yes, it is, but have you seen other ROMs like this? Almost every stock-based ROM out there are heavily modded, that's why I made this.
Q: "When did this ROM start?"
A: It started for the Wildfire and then X10 based on stock Eclair (released on MoDaCo only).

Updated 16 November. Fixed problems with missing xRecovery and not booting. It was an error on my side, sorry guys!
update-Leaf-GB-r3.zip (81.4 MB / xRecovery)
Package doesn't wipe data. You can flash this over any ROM that is based on stock (ThGo2, Wolfs TW, X10x EWJet, T.E.A.M, Ultima, Blue Sparks etc.) and retain data.
Installation
1. Copy zip package to SD card
2. Boot into xRecovery
3. (OPTIONAL) For a clean install, do a full wipe
4. Flash zip package
5. Reboot

Bye X10, I'm gonna miss ya
I will give it a go... lol.. I have tried so many ROM in the last few days.....
As a request, can you add the following tools...
1. Link2SD
2. AdFree
BTW: Does anyone ever use the Email program that it comes with? I was hoping to remove it
I will let you know in a couple of days.
I'll try including Link2SD and ad-block is already included.

Thanks, I also change the default launcher to Nemus launcher (marketplace).
At the moment I am sitting on 180mb RAM free.. which is unusually high, but that is also very nice if it is true.
I am going to install some of my apps to see how I go.
Great Job, I am going to stick to your ROM for the next few days.
Looks like some more sterling work there my friend!
What's the audio recording with the video camera like in this ROM? Is is still quiet?

sterling?
Audio is the same with stock SE camera.
Sterling work = good/respectable work
May have to try this ROM as it's my wife's X10, not mine, and the only issue we've found on all custom 2.3 ROMs is really quiet audio recording when using the videocamera.
Having said that, I flashed your Gingervillain port yesterday and although it has the quiet audio recording thing, the ROM is running really really well, so I may leave that on for a while yet......
Suggestions
Would it be possible to add restart, xrecovery to the power prompt menu as well as a modified battery icon and maybe if possible in any way to position the status bar on the bottom of the screen.
The reason for asking you to do the mods and not doing them myself is coz you are the dev and you may be implementing something similar already.
Thanks
I just installed it! I´ll try it and report thank you!

Since its stock, does it have the following (i'm not asking for these to be included, i'm just asking if they are):
xLoud
Bravia Engine
FPS uncap
i understand i'll have to run the zdzihu mod for the audio skip.
This is just a stock rom with removed apps. Right?
Do not get me wrong, thanks for keeping our x10 alive.
Why the SoundRecorder.apk appears on the Titanium Backup list, but don't appear among the apps on the app drawer (so i can't even open it to use it)?

FIRST OFF: THIS IS FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS. IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL THIS WITH A LOCKED BOOTLOADER, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
What it is:
(From the Galaxy Nexus Android Development CNA Thread)
Codename Android is a fully open source rom that focuses on speed, usability, and getting every feature that we can get CRAMMED in there :_con: .
Our mission is to spread the Open Source Android love to as many people as possible, and get as many people involved as possible. Along with the rom there will be tutorials to get more people involved and learning how to build android step by step.

What it is not:
I do not claim any thing special about the code other than some simple changes to make it work on the R800x. Either FXP built it (if it's a port) or it's code from CNA/Koush/freexperia or anybody else who has contributed to the CM9/Android repos.
I have made a few changes to the CNA vendor tree to add in a the ability to build zeus, changes to device/semc/msm-7x30-common to allow the semc_ota_from_target_files to work, I changed the libs in (my own) vendor/semc/zeus to be R800x libs and I removed the storefront from the proprietary files list in device/semc/zeus
KeiranFTW's CM9 kernel is recommended, it's included in all the zip files (source)
Now, onto the good stuff.
What Works:
Data
Calls
Wifi
GPS
SMS
Accelerometer
MMS (thanks chrono!)
What Doesn't Work:
ALS (Disabled by Keiran in kernel)
Bluetooth Media Audio (Thanks chrono!)
Video Recording (Thanks Neoandgeo for pointing that one out)
Facebook account syncing (Thanks DoubleByte) -- Note facebook account syncing looks like it's a problem within 4.0.4 framework...
Looks like there's an issue with navigation buttons the the R800x, looking into it.
What Kernel to use:
Use DFK-CM9 kernel (it's included in each zip) so far that seems to have the best balance of battery life & speed.
Anything else that doesn't work, lemme know, I'll add it to the list.
Link to CM9/CNA Files
What's in it:
1) 05/06 "lite" build (what you'd get from building it from scratch)
2) 05/05 "Full" build (added in some necessary apps, like messanger, music from cm9, etc.)
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL OVER A CM9 BUILD, OR HARDWARE KEYS HAVE ISSUES (DO NOT WIPE DATA WHEN INSTALLING)
Steps to do a install:
1) Download & copy to sdcard
2) reboot recovery,
3) MAKE A NANDROID!
4) wipe dalvik/cache
5) install from sdcard.
Thanks to Ridder215215, a complete guide on how to install CM9 (just replace the link in line 2 with the link above)

Nope, I'm gonna make this side-by-side with CM9. (And i'm gonna get started on another one soon if cj360 doesn't beat me to it ) (In fact i'm making the latest CM9 now)
I am sure this has already been asked but am I to assume that as it is based off off CM9 that the touchpads will not work? The only thing holding me back from all the other CM based ROMs is that I heard that touchpads do not work as that is part of the Sony Ericcson framework... Anyway besides that... thank you for the ROM is looks great... also I recognize the wallpaper on the screenshot and I know its a music band but what is the name of the group?

Actually, this one isn't based off CM9. It's as AOSP as possible (no CM9 additions in it )

Just to let those who are unaware know, in Advanced Testing in the Settings menu, Spare Parts settings force closes the Settings menu, as does Development settings.
Pax, you said, in your CM9 thread, that the T-Mobile Theme Chooser had been added to the source, right? Do you know if it's working properly, and do you plan on sticking it in CNA, or just in CM9?

Intro
Our fun continues, from Froyo, passed Gingerbread, and now to Ice Cream Sandwich...
Many of you may know, I have been away for quite a while. I've been quite busy with my personal life. My baby is now a little bigger, and there's less stress for me. I suddenly found some free time during weekends.
So, here it is, the third ROM series, "IScreamDX"... I believe many of you have screamed "DX!!!" when first seeing this thread, it worths its name. And also the pronounciation is similar to Ice Cream Sandwich Like previously with FroyoBread and GingerDX, our main goal is to have a fast, smooth and lightweight CM9 based ROM with some special features.
This series is developed, tested and released by TeamFun (doixanh, B.Jay, eagleeyetom and djnilse). Basically it's doixanh + Team GingerDX.
I have to take several lib/configuration files from MiniCM9. Approved by nobodyAtall. Thanks a lot, man.

Notice
Very important. Read all before posting questions!
1. You can report bugs in this thread and suggest additions, but understand we're not obligated to fix or include them. We'll fix what is needed, and we'll include what makes sense.
2. We are NOT responsible for any bugs caused by custom-made fixes/additions/tweaks. You use them at your own risk and responsibility!
3. Regarding the copyright branding at the bottom in Lockscreen: It will NOT be removed. Don't PM/Post to ask for the removal or nag otherwise.
4. If you have battery drain, try the following:
Clear battery stats in recovery.
Freeze unused services (like Email, DSP Manager, Maps). This is important.
Turn OFF 'Allow mock locations'.
Don't set brightness too high.
Don't install too many unused apps.
Turn OFF WiFi, 2G, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth when not in use.
Reboot after you listen to music. Music service caused battery drain (in the past).
Generally, we usually get 2-3 days out of a charge (give or take depending on usage).
5. If you still have battery drain after following Step 4, try:
Full wipe in recovery, re-install IScreamDX.
Use Stock ROM for several days to see if the battery problem is caused by IScreamDX or not.
If it doesn't drain, try installing one of your apps, test battery for a day, install another one, and test.
and so on...
That way you will know what's the cause of your battery drain.
Thanks
Thanks go to the CyanogenMod Team, racht, nobodyAtall, paul-xxx, zdzihu, jerpelea and lots of others...
Thanks also go out to Google for their great little Android.
And don't let us forget to throw Sony Ericsson a thanks for their nice X8 hardware but craptastic software support.

I have a locked bootloader
Any chances of stock compatibility in future ?
It's on our list to try and make it work on Stock.
For that to happen we, however, need to write quite a few things from scratch and also find a way to make the ICS Adreno libs working with Stock.
In short: It may take some time to get it riddled.
Team DX (think it would be better to call you this way ) do you have any recommended settings to test the rom? I mean, processor, ram, etc etc?

Since you can't upgrade the hardware of the X8 ... I think you have to stick to the hardware specs the X8 give you.
APP2SD is not enabled by default? After downloading some apps i was about to move them to SD Card but the button is disabled ?
@TeamDX..
Please correct Notice portion in your OP.
GingerDX is wrongfully mentioned there.

i think that the problem is that phone doesn't recognize the sim card (it says sim card isn't inserted) - this bug was presented in first MiniCM9 rom too, there was a simple hotfix for it
edit: here is the hotfix, can somebody try if it works?

Seem to have some problems with the Usb. may take a litle while to get working fully.
Btw expect a early alpha MiUi 2.11.30 release soon
I think in the previous v4 rom. there was a guy that made a temporary fix by changing persist.usb (or something like that) from mass_storage to mtp :// you can try digging around

ok i just spent a few mins with this baby. and i can say it is smooth, waaay more ram than the previous miui attempts. BUT
I love the UI and the convenience of the UI plus the strength of the haptic feedback
-market works.
bugs:
USB obviously doesnt work. (edit: i used the fix i mentioned [mass_storage -> mtp] well. my com detected it but... it failed installing drivers)
Youtube = softboot. (works after that)
miui music can't access "all music", "artists", "albums" but can access songs through playlists.
camera does not open (nor does it show fc) (camera 360 works.) (edit: native camera works afterwards.)
gets android.process.acore FC every boot. (no affect on usability)
slight flickering issues when moving back homescreen (not important at all)
wifi signal icon (known bug)
Overall very very nice rom
i'd love to continue using it now i'm torn between CM10 and this rom Dx obviously usb connection is very very important i'd love to have that working thanks D
anyways your work really needs due appreciation. as an long time miui fan i really really like your work great job. and thanks for sharing D
Edit3 : boot logcat attached... i have no idea why i did this but i did it anyway... might help somehow
Edit 4: Multi mount sdcard lite from market works (usb mounts) i guess this will be a temporary fix for most of us

Thanks a lot for this, ill have another look to fix usb, may be more simpler than i though
How is the speed of the rom? fast?
Tis interesting that you get soft boot with youtube, i cant seem to generate that error...
Also android.process.acore FC is strange, i dont get that either...
Ill take a look at your logcat see if i can find anything
Thanks again
Expect v4 soon
Edit: Think i found the problem with USB mass storage

the youtube worked after that... probably the rom settling itself down. The speed is smooth. real nice. slight lags (normal for ics :/)
I dont care about camera and other stuffs as i dont use. ROM is smoth but it takes time while going to home from any other app or setting.

This ROM has taken me about 90 hours (!!!) over three (or so) weeks to develop. 95% of it is my original work - it was quite difficult because MIUI-GB is based on CM7 but this is stock-based. If you enjoy it I really appreciate the donations so I can keep putting time into Xperia 2011 series
Features
Based on 2.3.4 stock GB firmware with ~90% of framework backported from 2.3.7 AOSP
- Some framework code must remain at 2.3.4 e.g. webkit (web browser) core
MIUI packages and resources from 2.4.20 (GB) for Desire S
Touchpad and Xperia controller fully working
Framework modded with "Suave HD Redone" theme with my own fixes and improvements, big thanks to collins521 (donate to him)
xLOUD native
Four-way reboot
- To see Phone options menu, either set Toggles to Compact or hold power on Lockscreen
Hold volume to skip tracks mod
Multiboot aware (of course)
Play Store and Services updated to latest versions
MIUI Browser, Music, and many other bloat apps removed (use your own from Play Store)
Disabled scrolling cache
Disabled package signature comparison (test-sign system APK's)
Replaced Deskclock and File Explorer with modded MIUI apps by apooonet (donate to him)
System font replaced with Xperia SoMa font, scaled to 70%
Status bar height reduced a little
Turbo OOM/ADJ/LMK tuning
Adreno and EGL libraries from CM7
Adreno Booster v0.1 integrated
Bugs
No Camera (yet)
MIUI Traffic Stats/Firewall not implemented (unsupported on stock firmware base)
'Font Size' option in Settings broken (unsupported on stock firmware base) (will be removed in later release)
Wifi > Advanced > Regulatory Domain broken (unsupported on stock firmware base) (will be removed in later release)
Maybe some light-on-light or dark-on-dark text issues somewhere, please report!
Probably more minor things, please report!
Screenshots
The above Antutu score is from Turbo Kernel. LuPuS GB is a better performer and will achieve over 7000.

It's the truth Turbo Kernel is mainly so we can multiboot and uses latest FXP graphics code for Jellybean to work, which unfortunately makes GB a little slower. It's still better than JB for 3D gaming, but needs an overclock to get a stock-like experience. LuPuS GB is supreme for heavy gaming.

I tried a million times to get logcat from initial boot but failed. here's the log while phone was booted and the airplane mode on/off. My xperia play is an AT&T phone but I use a straighttalk sim. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I've wiped everything and re-installed and still no service. hope this helps any way.
Can anybody else say if service is working or not for them? Also list your model and baseband.
Me:
Working fine, R800a - whatever the baseband is from .62 FTF.

The Line Endings are borked in that log file, I can't read that lol. Make sure you pipe it straight out to a text file and don't edit it before uploading.
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
Add it to a ZIP before uploading, incase it's the XDA site or my Firefox browser messing it.
To get a logcat from boot, do the logcat command with the device unplugged (will say "Waiting for device"). Then reboot phone, wait for the ROM boot logo to appear after kernel logo, *then* insert USB.

I don't know yet. It relies on some native methods that only exist in stock firmware (code inside the lib files). If I can replicate/reverse engineer them, or simulate them from scratch, then yes. I will write a new touchpad/gamepad fix that can be applied direct to source builds or via a ZIP patch.
But I won't be able to start work on it until after I get my Linux machine repaired.
I don't have any service either. Installed in slots 2 with wipe before. R800i

You didn't tell me your baseband version.
I just did a factory reset, and I still have coverage and can make calls fine! So I still need a logcat from boot.
Please tell me also what kernel you are using. Me:
R800a, Turbo Kernel v3.1, Baseband 64 (baseband = last two digits in Settings > About > Baseband version)
Ooofft... I've got to admit I've also been looking forward to this.
When you get a moment Dan, could you provide a few more screenshots please? I.e. For the launcher/app drawer? Or someone else who has the ROM installed... Doesn't have to be Dan. ><
