I am going on vacation in a few days and am looking for a rom to use while on vacation. I need working camera and video recording, and also the best rom for listening to music and wathcing movies etc, as we will be in the car a long time.

I have tried every single rom out there and CM 7.2 is the best.
Flashing AndroBreadCrumbs now, its cm7.2 based with some tweaks.

Lastest CM7 Stable, is better for Camera at 720P because it does 40MB bit rates and also, it has better media, tested it myself.
Cm 7.2 stable or neutrino would be the best options I think. Either one is great for movies and music. Personally I prefer cm7.2, runs smooth and haven't had any problems with it.

I find nottachtrix to be the best. I like the blur software. If you don't, I would agree with neutrino.

Neutrino is based on Cm7 RC3 when there is the Cm7.2 which has better battery life.
Neutrino's battery drains fast while not in use and Nottachtrix's battery isn't good either.
That's what i found therefore cm7.2 had the best battery life and preformance and i have tried all of the roms which are out there.

I am using neutrino since 6 months now. I think battery back up is excellent. With l light use, I'm able to go on for 3 days. Blur based b barely managed to complete 2 days if at all.
Haven't tried CM 7.2 though..

LOLv1.4 gives me d best battery life with a drain of only 3-4% over night for around 8-9 hrs with data off n in 2g mode..!!

It all depends on the usage. I can suggest you 4 options for the follwoing usage pattern:
Moderate number of calls, lot of texting, couple of hours of music, couple of hrs of brwosing over mobile data/1 hr of browsing over Wifi, display brightness set to 40%, all sync and background apps turned off except when internet is ON and a lot of monkeying around with the phone like changing wallpapers, ringtones, etc.
The above said tasks are what I do on an average day and the battery lasts about 30 hrs. this is a smartphone BTW
Option 1: Void forever with franco's kernel (I would recommend v17) -> looks plain dull and you need to flash a lot of apps if you need them.
Option 2: Andy's ROM with andy's kernel (with franco's kernel, I faced some battery drain, though it was not too much) -> best ROM IMHO. Very good UI, Very colorful and smooth.
Option 3: Mik's ROM with franco's kernel (again v17) -> not very visually pleasing. But almost same as Andy's performance wise.
If you are looking for a froyo ROM, I've tried only openOptimus and it has a battery life as same as the other 3.

Andy's ROM was pretty stable for me at 729/480 OC. I got kernel panic at 748/480 OC but 729 is stable. I personally feel Andy's ROM as more smoother than Mik's as I'm able to use live wallpapers without feeling sluggishness anywhere in the phone, which I couldn't get in Mik's. But opinion differs. All are excellent ROMs at the end of the day

Guess he's working on a totally new ROM, not based on CM7 but on CodeAurora. Let's wait and watch.
Ive been wanting to giveAndy's GB 2.3.4-rc4.1 a try for a minute, but have not been able to find the rom section dedicated to that rom...Ive used everything from Devoid Froyo Final to Megatron V1 to Mik_os's CM7 rom, but have not tried out Andy's GB 2.3.4-rc4.1 rom, can anyone point me in that direction for his rom ?
I've been using mik's CM7. but i reverted to offcial gb because cm7 lacks the night mode feature in camera. (it helps to capture better quality pic at low light situations)

Andy has discontinued his rom. He is now working on a CAF based build.
I haven't tested any of the 2.3.x ROMs but I tested most of the Froyo ones, and definitely for 2.2.x I got the best battery life with LOL 1.4.2

If you have the new baseband, data is not going to work on Andy's ROM.
[EDIT]: GSM also won't work, unless you flash the baseband fix from Mik.
I'm currently on 6.5.7 with zacks v3.4 kernel plus soundfx.zip/a few other scripts and battery life is great but like others have said its all in opinion and yeah openxoptimus has exceptional battery life. I'd use open if I could flash the data fix but I don't have a computer. What good is it to have openxoptimus without data.

It's decent, that's for sure. At least on Franco's 16 august Kernel
I generally get about 40 hours of light use out of it (some phone calls, some browsing, 3G & sync on all the time, couple pics, facebook, bit of wifi, bluetooth only when in the car). I leave data on all night long, too (I noticed I sometimes get higher battery consumption with data off).
If I have 66% or more left after the first day, I don't recharge (otherwise I do recharge because I'm not sure it will last another 24h)

I think MIUI 1.9.9 it's a good rom and BlackEdition v0.2 too.
But i advice you to test the 2 roms and compare to knows
I'm using black edition v02, with dooms v05 kernel and I have to say I'm impressed with it, really quick and responsive, I've had no problems with it so far battery lasting about 12 - 15 hours with moderate use, data works fine, camera and wifi work fine( remember to flash wifi files if you use dooms kernel) really no complaints at all, lots of good themes and lockscreens available for download. Also typing on it seems Much easier with this rom
But try for yourself and see what suits you

I used my P500 for some months with CyanogenMmat, which is really great but sometimes produced screen freezes.
Now I'm giving my phone to a technically less skilled person. To make sure this person enjoys the phone as much as I did, I want to install an adequate rom for her.
In my opinion this means, the rom should be really stable and guarantee long battery life. Also it wouldn't hurt if the rom was quite up2date, but that's not the main issue.
Can you recommend me a rom?

Hi,
I recommend you to give her the phone with rooted official GB because according to my experience, I believe that official one is the best for technically less skilled person and I also suggest you to install Player pro for best experience of music with its inbuilt 5 band equalizer and you may also use DSP pack but I think it will hard for her to adjust the 10 band equalizer..
Also suggest you to use flash player 11 for stock rom to enjoy online games and videos.. Search the XDA for the thread..
And no doubt that battery backup is good on stock roms. You can also use Juice defender app for enhancing the battery life.
If she use Stock rom definitely she will not face any problem with wifi, usb, 2G,3G or any thing else.

In my oppinion best stable is nightly4e and franco #4 kernel both combinations do extremly good job of preserving battery life
I am now using RESURRECTION 1.5, stock based and smooth so far
Both the wife and I are running oxygen with franco-4 and the wifes a junkie . Meaning phones always in her hand ... Making calls, texts, searching the net ,fb, playing smurfs and other games 75% of a day and she has never had any real problems other than a FC once or twice a week but phone always lasts her from 6:30 am till about 11pm. I went with MROM and am very well satisfied. Incredibly simple install.
Don't forget (as I did) to go to settings / mrom settings / applications and uncheck use internal sd card if you want to use your external card.
I know it's a bit dated, but for CM7, I love Dorian's RedPill ROM. It flies and has some great mods incorporated within. Good luck and happy flashing!

Yes, they have 100% camcorder with 1080p and flawless HDMI mirroring. If you want the best that's out there for the Atrix, CM7 based roms are your only choice. CM9/10 are too incomplete at the moment (no camcorder, flakey HWA and HDMI mirroring), and blur is kinda buggy and slow. I second MRom, it seems to be the best CM7 one out there.

AtrICS v 2.0 by Team Hope is pretty decent. Not much experience with JB except epinter's cm 10.1, so i can't give any advice there either. I'd just download each of the ICS and JB roms and try them out and find out which one works better for you.

In that case, stay with an ICS rom. Most are pretty stable, but will be more stable after kernel development is complete.

Hi guys , I have AtrICS v1, the Info of my MB860 ATRIX 4G , the settings say that came with Webtop 3.0, i did buy the lapdock for this device, but the webtop do not launch and the screen resolution not show the full view..is missing.. i can not view the web top mode lunch i ca not see the screen complety , only a small part and bad res....
this ROM AtrICS v1 work fine, the bad is the high consumtion of the battery and the hot my cell almost part of time.
I want use this rom with the webtop on my lapdock. How ??

There should be a webtop with that rom. I don't quite remember, i was on that rom for a short time before going back to gb.
All other problems should be fixed with 2.6.39.4 kernel development (see atrix dev section, ics/jb kernel thread for dev status updates) and implementation in the boot img. Be patient, they're working on it

I tried Epinter CM10 and it is a great rom. Smotth, reliable and responsive.
BUT !!!! There is a "but". There is a lot of functions that do not work anymore due to a lack of tegra drivers for ICS / JB... :
- no video recording (except in a very bad resolution 640x480)
- no hardware acceleration so you cannot play your video on your mobile stored in mp4 (native cam format), mkv....
- games will have a strange behaviour (lag, screen scrambled...)
For this reasons, I comeback to Gingerbread ROM and I have a full useable phone !
Make your choice, but You will are not able to get all
If you can get away from the idea of wanting just a JB or ICS rom, I'd suggest Neutrino Rom. Its GB and really stable.
Any rom u install which is not GB is not stable
U can go with Epinter cm10 much stable but u cannot video record using the phone the battery is also good.
On other hand u want everything working u better want to stay with MRom

M I S E R A B L E battery life (as in fully charged to completely discharged in about six hours, even if you're not using it)
Video camera still has problems
Still no fingerprint reader
A Tweaked Gingerbread ROM (such as MROM, Neutrino, etc.)

The Holo Launcher makes everything look very ICS-ish

RaiderDuck, you forgot the lapdock, other than that, your comment should be a "sticky", not that everyone reads them, but it would cut down on the GB vs ICS/JB questions that have been answered over and over.
