hi,
I'm on android 4.0.4 aokp with syriah kernel. my google play and gmail don't sync. it constantly times out. I tried doing a full wipe and installing a different rom, they worked, but only for a few hours, then the same thing happened again. so I'm back to aokp.
facebook works fine, the web browing works fine. but downloading files from the web doesn't download, times out. also gmail syncing doesn't sync and google play app store doesn't sync.
some things work, some don't. doing a fresh rom install the apps work fine for like a few hours, then all of a sudden some work some don't. using 3G data only. no wifi. wifi does load everything properly though, it's the 3G data it doesn't like.
all this wasn't happening when I had stock firmware running only.
any ideas?
thanks
Check your APN settings and check if you are routed through a Proxy.
If so, write it down and try if it works without.
Also make sure the APN settings match the ones made public by your provider.
there were a few options to choose from
mobile
mobile (open)
internet
SMS
MMS
is mobile open like internet without a firewall? I chose it because it had no proxy ip. regardless, this worked. cheers mate. what's your paypal email to transfer funds for saying thanks :>
Mate, theres a "Thanks" button, most if not all members here aren't in it for monetary gain... Just thanks are enough, and the hope you'll help out others if they post with the same problem... :highfive:

ok i found the problem, its the proxy connection settings, the connection wizard puts in a proxy ip address for tmobile. untick the proxy server box and viola sorted.
Worth bearing in mind if you are using a unlocked touch pro on tmobile pay and go.

I just flash new rom and it happen at the first start. Can't sign in Google Account, so I can't sync my contact and use market, etc. I search for many solutions, such as, hard reset, clear cahce in Application setting, reflash rom, roll back to old rom, and so on. It still can't connect!!!!
"Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care."
This message show up when I try to connect. Pls. Help!!!!

who is your service provider?
where are you located?
I'm now in Beijing, China. (China Mobile) but, I can sync with this before. I'm here 1 year already. It just happen to unable to sync 2 days ago. I'm sure I have wifi connection, because I can use browser to log in to gmail. However, can't establish connection between phone and google account. Current APN setting is set to China Mobile!! Someone here said it was a problem of google sevice, so everyone now can't resync if reset phone. Is it true?
I'm having the same problems in Beijing as well. I wasn't able to log into my account. Every other time I flash a rom its been problem free, but it's been 2 days now. Same message, 'can't establish a reliable days connection to the google servers'
I can also surf and login through my carrier and WiFi, but no login.
I'm also in China (not Beijing; I'm in Dalian) and using China Mobile. I reinstalled the firmware this morning and I also cannot connect to Google's servers. Everything works fine using Wifi, and I've tried clearing the cache etc.
Looks like a Google issue?
i`m in iran and i have same problem my wifi and apn work because i can use browser and my google account is working because i use it in my pc.but my ppc with android can not connect i used it befor but now i can`t
Let me start this by saying I do not use google maps app very often so I am unable to pinpoint the exact time, it went from being usable, but it definitely happened after a rom or kernel flash.
I went from
early stock rom->CFROOTKE2->Cognition 1.02->infusion 1.02ish->Cog 1.08->BacklashKG1 kernel->Infusion 1.07->infusion 2.0full.
I know that I hap map functionality on cognition 1.02, but i've only had my GS2 for about 2 wks.
I discovered maps didnt work after the latest Infusion, and have tried:
A. enabling and diasabling packet data, gps etc.
B. flashing different modems (ie the one from cog 1.02 and latest)
C. Reflashing (with wipes of data, cache, dalvik etc) old versions of cog and infusion1.07
D. Stopping GMaps app and clearing data.
E. And yes, even being inside vs outside.
I also do not backup my phone using google
Through all this, my data connection works for browser and market and I have had no extra apps installed except for the ones that came with the roms.
But when I get on google maps 5.7 it gives me this error:
"Network failure: This application requires a working data connection"
But google maps in browser works with gps functionality.....
I am on China Unicom for the moment and my apn settings are:
3gnet-
Everything not set except for
MCC 460
MNC 01
APN Type: internet
3gwap-
Everything not set except for
MMSC "the url" (xda wont let me post links yet )
MMS proxy 10.0.0.172
MMS port 80
MCC 460
MNC 01
APN type mms
The blank stuff doesnt seem to affect my 3g connection, but I dont know too much about apn.
Oh, and this happens on wifi as well, with stock wpa_supplicant and wpa_supplicant modded for adhoc.
I dont want to just chalk it up to China being China, because it worked before, and when I leave China, I'd obviously like it to work back in the States.
I've looked at several other pertinent posts on xda but none of them seem to have the answer...
So I'd really appreciate some help, as I've tried everything that i can think of and seem to have his a dead end. And sorry for the wall of text!, I just want to make sure I give you guys all the info.
Best,
Endor
There is a way!
All you need to do is use VPN in your mobile and open maps. It will work after that even if you disconnect from VPN. Msg me if after trying!

Oh btw, I fixed it.
I flashed to stock KE1 and kernel unrooted, and it just worked. So I backed up the Google maps 5.2.1 and data, and flashed back to latest infusion 2.0. Maps 5.7 didnt work again, but i uninstalled street and maps and restored to the old versions and it works now... odd.... because 5.7 worked before...
Thanks to Marthyaya anyways! If I have any more problems, I'll try your suggestion. I just happened to fix it before seeing your post.
Hey marthyaya, could you please explain how to do this? I do not have any VPN details to connect with.
Hi,
I search over the forum but didn't find the answer to my question.
I'm the happy owner of a GS3 stock rom, not rooted, fresh out of the box.
It works verry well. I'm impressed by the device itself but I struggle with a problem.
My exchange account won't syncronize over 3G. Every few minutes, I get a message saying "unable to connect to [my account]"
gmail client works just fine but I have two email addresses (pro and home).
This is not a connectivity issue as other apps works great aover 3G and this is not a network limitation as I can connect thru other wifi networks.
I can do all necessary test and I had a look in all settings I can find without any succes until now.
I had 3 FW update since I own the device, each time I hope it will solve my probelm...
Thanks for your help.
Best regards from Belgium,
JC
Did you checked out if in Settings _Data Usage- not added to exceptions to sync only over WiFI ?

Thanks for your answer.
I checked and I can find any exceptions (I can't find the options, to be clear). Under the Data Usage, I have mobile data and Wifi pages but I don't find any way to manage exceptions.
There is a similar issue with the hotmail app - SSL auth error on 3G - Fine on Wi-Fi
The way to resolve that issue is to uninstall the app - remove any accounts associated to it (the hotmail sync account removed authomatically) reboot the phone - then set everything back up BUT DO SO ON 3G and not Wi-Fi!!! For some strange reason this sorts out the issue and can then connect on both 3G and Wi-Fi.
This is obviously specific to the hotmail app - but as this is also email it may also resolve your issue - Worth a shot at least. .Good Luck

Thanks for the info.
How can I uninstall the stock email app? I will try to clear my account but not uninstall the app and see if it solves my problem. I will try it tonight when I will be back in my country and not in roamuing anymore.
Thanks
I don't use the stock app at all - I guess you can remove the associated accounts under settings/accounts then go to app manager and clear cache and data.
My issue was due to a self signing certificate or something - guess that a hidden setting somewhere changes when you accept but wasn't working correctly when setting up accounts over Wi-Fi.
Hope it works for you. You not the option to get a specific mail provide app from the playstore? - Could be another option
I will let you know
I'm quite happy with the stock mail app for now. If I can solve my problem by reseting my account over 3G, I will keep it.

I resolved this issue by:
- deleting the Exchange Active Sync eMail Account I set up over WiFi (Email->Settings->Delete Account);
- created an EAS Account over 3G, selected "Accept every SSL Certificate" (Email->Settings->Add Account).
It seems that creating an EAS Account over WiFi prevents the same account to access the server over 3G/EDGE/... connection.
Tried on Sony Xperia Tablet Z SGP321, default mail app, with Android 4.2.2.

Problem solved!
Hi,
I have also an Galaxy S5 Android and sinds we have Exchange 2010, it does not synchronize any more. If I put my phone on SAVE MODE, it doesn't work. If I DISABLE the SAVE MODE it works.
Go to Setting => Power saving => put Power saving mode OFF
good luck.

Hi there,
I'll explain what's wrong here, I have a Samsung S3 i9300 with Android 4.3.1 (SlimBean) and everything works fine. Only when I turn on WiFi (tried several), my internet acces is limited to the google site, and some apps like Facebook and Whatsapp. But when I try to navigate to other websites, I recieve a -Not found- error.
So it seems like technically everything is ok (otherwise I also couldn't open google in my browser). Other devices connected to the same network do not have this issue. I tried to change DNS settings (e.g. 8.8.8.8), but this is not possible in 4.3.1 as far as I can see.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Does it happen on a particular WiFi network or any WiFi?
Is your WiFi hidden?
You can try making Android forget this network & again manually setting it up.
You can also check for any App that may be restricting WiFi traffic
EDIT:
You can change WiFi network settings even in 4.4.2 KitKat
Long Press your Wifi -> Modify Network -> Check 'Show Advanced Options' -> Change IP Settings to 'Static'
Now all settings incl DNS will be visible & you can change them.
I tested several networks and they're not hidden.
I use DroidWall, but uninstalling this does not have an effect unfortunately. Also forgetting and reconnecting does not help.
[EDIT]
Thanks for the tip, however this also does not give me access to the rest of the world wide web..

Did try using some software such as Wifi Connection Fixer?
Also did you try using different browsers on your phone?
I was having such an issue with ebay.in on the stock browser my i9300. But the same thing loaded perfectly with Chrome.
Clearing the Data & Cache of the stock browser helped later on.
I will try the Wifi Fixer, thanks!
I tried two different browsers without luck, and it is a problem beyond the browser imo, because the Play Store also can not download apps when connected to WiFi. I can search for apps, but when I want to download them, it gives me a -no connection, retry-..

If nothing works, I guess you might have to reflash your ROM after clearing the whole data & cache.. :crying:
IMO, CM11 M2 (Android 4.4.2) is quite good, just flashed it on my S3..
Well, I now changed the DNS settings to the google DNS server (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and rebooted the phone and this did the trick.
I don't really understand it, but I am glad I can use my phone without wiping it completely again!
