Hi everyone,
My galaxy s3 recognizes all m4a files on my extsdcard but everytime I choose to play, it shows that m4a is not supported. I'm using FoxHound ROM 1.3 and Siyah Kernel 1.3.9c. I don't know whether it relates to the ROM or the kernel. Anyone please give me some advice
Thanks!

Thanks for your answer. But with the same that sdcard, my Atrix 4G running CM7 has no problem to play those files. It could be the lack of codec in the audio library.
As I said wrong format

Thanks, I'll try to convert them to mp3 files. Just still not understand why my old Atrix with CM7 ROM can run them as a charm.
Format is more than just the container like m4a or mp3 and the problem is that some players wont touch formats that dont match whatever they choose as their limit so to speak .

You're right. I tried mx player and it can all files well. So I should change to another music player program. Do you have any suggestion ? A software that can play various types of file. Mx is not really convenient for music playback.

Second that, free, stable and feature rich
mVideoPlayer. Never failed me.
Hi there, I think I might try out these recommended video players. But before I do, I wondered if anyone could let me know why the videos I'm copying across to the phone (divx AVI episodes of TV shows downloaded via BitTorrent) don't stretch to the full size of the screen?
I have tried RockPlayer and yxplayer and what appears to be the standard 'video player'. yxplayer doesn't appear to do anything (or can't play divx AVI files), the other two play it in the centre of the screen with heaps of space around the sides.
When I play the same files on my TV through my PVR, they stretch to fit my TV screen dimensions and look really sharp. Was hoping the same would occur on the phone, so I would have something to watch on tomorrow's interstate flight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also try qqplayer which can actually play a 1080p mkv file. though it will run very slow it still tries at least unlike most players!
Anyone know of any player that can fill the screen WITHOUT stretching the picture (in other words, it zooms in to fill the screen). I had that on windows mobile but have never found an Android player that does this.

Try taking a look at arcMedia.
Mobo Player.
I prefer mVideoplayer because it will display the folders that I have my videos in. I have over a 100 tv episodes for 7 to 8 different shows and not having them organized by folder drives me crazy.

Try using the soft-decoding for the file or possibly re-encoding it.

kindly recommend a player or is there a way to install codecs?
don't want to keep converting files too many of them.
The best player you can use is MoboPlayer. It plays almost all formats. And also can downsize 720p videos.

What format do I need to rip DVDs to to be able to play on the Vibrant with an ICS ROM?
x264 at 1.5Mbps is the best choice, using a player like DICE Player.

Do as i recommended.!
You need these Tools
1....Firefox Browser....v.15.01
2....Adobe Flash Player v.11.1..115.17
2....Video Downloader Pro v.1.02 (or use the Free to Test first.)
3....MX Player and MX Codec ARMv.7
If you already downloaded the Flash Player, it shows on your HomeScreen as Adobe Flash Settings just leave it as is because its Ticked to receive Updates
and IF Adobe gives us a Fix it will Auto Update your version without needing to get a new one.!!!
To WATCH Videos ON your Device go to the Site using your Internet Stock Browser and PLAY the Video.!!!
To DOWNLOAD Videos ONTO your Device use Firefox Browser and VideoDownloadePro and DOWNLOAD..!!!
SET the MX Player as your Default Player its the Best one out there.!!!
I can Watch and Download any video with this work-around... it works 100%
Hope you understand this work-around.!

Yes use MX Player. Ive been using it myself and had no problems with it.
Most films I download are either .AVI or .FLV and plays files just fine.
I've been using Stock Video Player and .AVI works just fine. I wonder why it's not working on your phone
Let me guess you use es file explorer?? If so clear the data of es then try it again and it will work.

I'm not too sure about the format. Even when I converted the.avi file to .mp4 which S3 should be able to play, it still doesn't. Is this due to my CF-Root?

Stupid question maybe, but have you tried many different videos? Because I too have encountered some files I've downloaded that just would not play while others (from the same download) play fine.

Something wrong with your video files is my guess ..If you dont know the format how do you know SGS3 can play this unknown format ??
You can try backing up data and factory resetting .
You could also try formatting the sd card and starting again .
Or you could update your firmware .
Or return to service centre .
