Hi experts and mates,
First of all, happy new year to all of yous...
Straight to the point, I have Omega ROM v10 now, but since I bought S2 and play any games or listen to music or so, the phone heats up... Like near camera and speaker areas it gets hot and I can feel it if I touch the fone...
Is it normal or do I have to take it to service centre??? What can be the reason???
And one more thing, BLN Control is not working too...
Any suggestions or help would be highly appreciated...
Try Phenomenal kernal 2.0 medium or extreme its makes a big difference in running graphic intensive games at cooler tempretures. It's based on speedmod so there's no bln

By the way, there is one more problem in my S2:
Backlight doesn't work perfectly... For example, I start playing any game like angry bird, the backlight doesn't light up at all for a minute or two, then suddenly backlight is up and then suddenly screen becomes dark again...
Why it is like that??? What should I do for this issue??? Screen is suppose to lit whenever we touch it, ryt???
If its service centre you have no waranty.You will need to revert to stock.

So there's this thing called electricity and there's this thing called a processor. When the process asks for Mr. Wire to bring it some more Mrs. Electricity it gets really excited. The more electricity it asks for the more excited it gets. One of the bi-products of excitement is heat, when Mr. Processor is chugging along at 1200 MHz its really really excited. But when Mr. Processor is only going at 200 MHz its not so excited, so it doesn't produce so much heat. The only way that your phone can work is when Mr. Processor and Mrs. Electricity get together, and because Mr. Processor is quite a horny blighter it's always going to produce heat. As for your "problem" pertaining to BLN not working, Mr. Process is quite a clever little thing and has made the conscious decision for you to stop BLN from working because its a massive waste of battery and phone resources. There, isn't Mr. Processor just wonderful. You should go and over-clock him to 1600MHz right now to reward him.
Thanks for your help and guidance guys... By the way, I installed Siyah Kernel v2.6.4 and the heating issue is resolved... Also BLN is working now with this kernel...

Hi guys, the game works fine for a couple of mins, until the phone starts heating and well , it starts lagginggggg. Multiplayer works fine, but single player is just killing me. Problems only occur when phone starts to warm up. Anyone facing this issue?
More info : Strafing and scrolling "view" seems to be lagging, as though frame-rate just dropped or something. I've reinstalled and uninstalled, downloaded data and still, the same outcome. Multiplayer is as smooth as

Ive only played the first mission. it does not lag or overheat like you mention,although i do notice the frames drop in some areas becoming slightly laggy.online gaming is great.i hate that the game crashes and restarts sometimes in online play
Have some apps running in the background?
I also experience UHT moment when i play gameloft games.. but theres no continuous lag, only stutters on some area..
You may also need to check that your governor wasn't on conservative..

Hmm, im on the latest version. 1.0.1. What im getting is the BLURISH effect when scrolling views. Im pretty sure its a framerate drop. Ive got MC3 running alone, no background apps. Its literally killing me. Ive tried 5 different kernels, and Im sure im not overclocking or underclocking the cpu. Im using stock rom though. Would cyanogenmod help improve the gameplay? Any good roms that still preserve the samsung qwerty keyboard?
I have this issue too. I have a Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100, Noble Black, 2.3.5, stock ROM, kernel XWKJ1 (also stock), NO ROOT
At some point (fire or many trees or something) the game is lowering the FPS. I didn't noticed that for example on Sensation XL (which has 1.5 singlecore and even higher screen resolution than my phone has) and i didn't saw a single lag.
I made a video about this problem and posted it on youtube here it is:
I suppose this problem is related to my stock ROM or even my stock kernel... something similar is happening with backstab but there it's not that annoying since it's not a FPS game

YES YES Im not alone. Thats the problem. I wonder if its due to the stock rom...
Got the game no issue here. im rooted on slimrom with siyah kernel, not overclocked but undervolted so it doesnt heat up so much. Fyi shadow gun is a really good game as well

Well,it even happens on my device,which is overclocked,both the CPU(1600MHz) and the GPU(400MHz).It seems to only happen when there is smoke on the screen.Doesn't happen in any other case.
Feel like flashing a new rom. Gonna get a usb jig first...
Btw, any roms to recommend?

Because it has another much weaker GPU, therefore it has much lower graphical quality settings. It's like playing on Low and the GSII on very high.

Well,even if it is so,it's unacceptable,as it's definitely a fault on Gameloft's part.The game is,once again like other Gameloft titles,more or less badly coded.It uses too much GPU.I can play ShadowGun with 16x MSAA(Using CF3D) for hours and the phone just gets warm,while I can't play MC3 for nearly as long and the device burns.Before anyone tries to say that it's because MC3 has so super awesome graphics,it's not the cause.Our GPU doesn't overheat,even when overclocked.Excessive heat is only generated by the CPU.So,try playing ShadowGun and MC3 with 500MHz or 800MHz CPU.ShadowGun still plays as awesome as before,while MC3 lags.
We should contact Gameloft me thinks...

Try the map where your using a minigun and escaping with a truck/car (dont remember the map name)
the fps drops from stable 60 to under 20 impossible to, win the level through with hard
Hmm which governor are you using? i just know that lulzactive is kinda bad if it comes to gaming. try out some stock governors like ondemand, conservative or performance.

Tried all, only choice is to run stock rom, like cm7... Btw guys, if I use chainfire and download the game under "Adreno", would it work

Well i have rooted my phone and wanted to overclock my S2.. Now i need to install a custom kernel for that , so was thinking of going with siyah..
However i just wanted to know whether is it really worth overclocking? I mean i will go back to stock settings for day to day usage.. but like for playing games and stuff..i would like to overclock my cpu..
There are few 3d games mainly open world ones like gangstar rio city, amazing spiderman which lag a bit even on S2..
So just wanted to know whether overcloking to1.4 or 1.5 will show any improvements or not? Also how does it affect the overall performance of the device i.e. opening apps, swiping through home screens, home screen lag etc.
Answers would be greatly appreciated

well OC does improve performance of the phone while doing the benchmark test's,but the same is not recommended for longer use since it creates lots of isssue's like Random freezing, rebooting, overheating etc which is not good for ur phone.
hence the best thing is to try out some good kernels like Siyah, fluxi etc and see how ur games fare with there default settings and also u can set the Governers in the same(siyah, Fluxi kernel) and try, that way its safe rather than Overclocking
Well, more performance (but for me not that much) at the expense of battery life and a damaged chip set sooner than later in the future

So do u think installing siyah kernel will have a postive impact on the performance of the phone overall as well as games? by the way regarding OC, ofcourse i wont overclock the whole time , only when playing those demanding 3d games..

I am not installing any custom rom currently as RR and few others have reportedly been not so stable for gaming..the games crash or force close etc..
so gonna stick with stock rom for now..but i do want a performance enhancing kernel
You won't need to overclock at all whilst playing games. The cpu will be more than sufficient and stock speeds. Also the gpu does main of the gaming bits and that will have no problem as it can play tegra games
well thats d prob..there are few games that do lag on d great s2 lol as mentioned in my post... so was wonderkng wheyher overclocking cpu and/or gpu will affect performance or not..

I'm hoping over-clocking/ changing cpu/gpu settings could eradicate this only ExTweaks has no instructions whatsoever and I don't want to make any n00b mistakes.
Can someone tell me how to optimize my phone for high-end gaming please?

This high end gaming should be, if your device is supported, possible without any lags and without OC. You have a rom with Siyah at this moment?

I'm sorry, wouldn't know any other suggestions than to try this game with another (newer) rom and a upgraded Siyah version, and see if the problem still exists. OC shouldn't be necessary in my opinion.
Why don't you make a Nandroid back up and flash another rom to try?

I use my phone for wifi, to download 300Mb roms just to try would be ridiculous when they download at around 20kps (PLEASE SEE OTHER THREAD BY ME TITLED -wifi tethering ridiculous fluctuations, those tech minded please reply- ASKING FOR HELP ON THIS MATTER, which has 72 views and not a single reply I might add)

I had the same problem you have with the browser app, it was really lagging when I clicked on a link, always took at least a few seconds to load the page. So I went onto ExTweaks and OC'd my CPU to 1600mhz and my GPU to all the highest settings, it didn't make any difference to my browser but now if I'm ever stranded in the Arctic I can use my phone to melt ice into water, for about 15 minutes before the batter dies that is.
Gta gangstar rio city is a poorly optimized game..so it will lag no matter what
So dont bother about this game..
I have also been struggling with finding rom/kernel combo for best gaming performance..and none of the users actually help here as they just want to underclock their s2 and have long batterry life and flaunt their s2..thats it!!!
for getting better fps..i would suggest using ondemand governer..and use 500-1400 mhz scaling on CPU and set your gpu to like 200-267-400 and set low thresholds..But beware this is for serious gaming only lol and will drain your battery pretty good..but u will get a fps boost of about 6-7. A slightly pretty lower setting is : cpu scaling same and set gpu to 200-267..with ondemand governer..this is also gives you a good gaming performance
also..download nenamark 2 and let me know what fps u get with siyah 4 kernel and note the settings in extweak used..im also thinking of switching from siyah 3.5 to 4 but got no time to test lol

I play so many HD games including Ganstar, NFS MW, Modern Combat 3 without no lag what so ever. And I do not use OC because it causes the phone to overheat. I think somethings wrong with your current ROM. Do a backup and try another ROM just to check

From my experience in general, only a few apps tend to overheat my sg2 (overclocked to only 1.4 Ghz though).
Hey folks , I got some strange problems with my phone here.
So,what's my story about. My gaming performance just suddenly got bad. Before,I was on official 4.3 with everything stock and games ran flawlessly. Then I flashed AOSP ROM and everything still worked as it should (games didn't lag) and I was on AOSP for more than 4 months.
Now,I flashed back stock sammy-based ROM , and only after 4 days,I noticed that gaming performance is really bad.
Let's start from the fact that only god knows what I've done with my phone today to fix that, but I was unsucsessful. I changed ROMs,kernels,tweaked my phone,overclocked it,but nothing , games still lag like hell. Real Racing 3 has BIG fps drops,dead trigger 2 (low) has some lag spikes and some fps drops,too. Now I downloaded modern combat 4 and it was unplayable! I haven't flashed stock with odin,as my computer doesn't read my phone in download mode (again!),so I'm lazy to do it on other computer. But still thinking of that. Maybe at least very official ROM is the last hope.
So,can anyone help me? This is the first problem which I can't fix and that's bothering me,though I already got used to fact that now I may have to live without gaming,lol. Not a big problem,as for now. But really? What can be the cause? What's wrong with my phone? Why is UI smooth,why can't I see any lag when watching HD videos and etc, but games lag so badly? Look how good my score in antutu is (no overclocking,cpu and gpu - everything stock):
If you are using a custom kernel disable zram. Real racing 3 will lag when offers are loaded at the title screen. If you get lag in game then you have something else going on.
System panel on the playstore can help you see what is going on. Also disable dvfs with the xposed module as that causes issues with overclocked devices.

I have similar problem (just posted a help thread about it), in my case it's thermal throttling which is scaling down CPU to 800MHz after 5 mins of playing heavy games. try running CPU analyzer from System Tuner and check if that's the problem.

Sometimes the games lag but not like u mentioned.. If u want a stock 4.3 that is flashable via recovery and you can have great performance then i have one.. I really have and own it
