Recently Installed CM9 agrabrens 7.1 fantastic btw! I turned do not disturb on last night and after disabling it I no longer recieve texts on my cell phone off data. It seems that Google voice has stopped forwarding my text messages.
I have tried flashing other roms wiping data and deactivating my google voice account and no luck. I am able to send messages via the stock app fine just not receive them.
Any idea what I should do to approach this?
Thanks
I have the same problem. I am glad I am not alone. I am thinking about reverting to complete stock and then seeking technical support. Why do you think it is a Google Voice issue? Did you flash VM Firmware?

I just flashed MeanRom and the issue went away. Unexpectedly reflashed cm9 agrabren again and still no messages....
It just started happening suddenly I know that my configurations are correct.
I may try a superwipe
When I flashed into MeanRom all my messages came flooding in thank god so I didn't lose them up in the cloud but i like cm9 i Don't wanna lose texting...
Did you flash Virgin Mobile Firmware?
My messaging has not been working for a month. During this period I have tried many ROMs. I am not sure if this is ROM related.
Yes but I stripped the boot loader out of it so I am on boot 1.4 and also flashed back to 2.17 but maybe I haven't done anything other than that. But why would it be fine then randomly stop working.
I haven't tried any others from mean ROM which worked and agrabrens. I also have a kernel of he who must not be named installed I tried without it as well and problem remained. Was running great until this morning.

Bump Issue still exists
Finally I was able to get messaging back using stock app. When I disabled Google Voice I started getting error Msg 2134 and solution to it is to unblock text on the phone through Sprint's website. Damn Sprint, even they didn't know about it.
My Sprint > My Preferences > Block Texts > unblock all. And you messaging should start in a few minutes.
If this doesn't work try disabling your Google Voice account and then try it again. You might have to try different browser or wait a little bit.

Not sure if you guys want this here...just thought I'd post here...move if needed...
Ok, problem I've had for awhile now..
I was using Tazz 10 and Nonsensikal 7.0. They were both working perfectly then all of a sudden, I started to not receive txt messages. I can send, but not receive. So I wiped, re-flashed each ROM seperately, nothing. Wiped and nandroid to a ROM that was working, nothing.
I am now doing the Flashback 1.5 to get to Stock ROM. If still not working, gotta take to Verizon. But once it works...gonna Root again and put Tazz 12 and Nonsensikal 8.8. and see if the issue returns.
That's all, just wanted to post if any one else experiences this issue.
OK....flashed the Stock ROM...I am now recieving Txt messages...
Next...re-root and flash Nonsensikal, and see if I am still able to recieve Txts.
After flashing a stock ROM, you should back up your APN files. One way to do this is with a free app on the market called APN backup and restore. It will back up to an XML file on your SD card. After flashing another ROM, use that app to restore the APN files.
What are the APN files for? I am stuck at boot screen since updating OTA. Haven't had a chance to root yet. So I can still do it.

I believe they tell your phone which towers to connect to. So if you don't have the correct APN files, your phone has issues receiving messages. Some of the ROMS that are based on ROMs from other carriers may not have the right APNs.

Shouldnt a *228, option 2, update the PRL to current for Verizon?
Well, I went through everything and now I am NOT receiving messages again. I re-rooted and flashed Tazz 12 and now not receiving Txt messages again. Damn! I have to have an unrooted phone now? This sux. I can't be with out Txt messaging.
FYI...I restored APN's and did *228
Is it with your stock txt app or did you download one? I had problems similar to yours with ChompSMS on NonSensikal. Wiped and reinstalled rom but stuck with Stock messenger and the problem never returned. If you are on stock try a different txt app. Good luck!
It was with both apps...neither were recieving. I have since restarted and it seems to be working at the moment...
Could it be that your not popular?
jk, have you turned the Wi-Fi off, cause that has seemed to work for me

I would have the problem with both apps as well but when I reinstall the rom it would work and then a little while after installing Chomp it would stop again. Finally did a reinstall and didn't install ChompSMS and everything worked and stayed working. Good Luck!
One of my friends was having this issue too and it was due to which radio version she was using. The radio included in Tazz, KaosFroyo, and Nonsensikal were all giving her issues. She switched to xtrSense and the radio with that played nicer with her phone and all was well. Check out which version each rom runs and then you can flash the other radio over whichever rom you'd want. With that being said, I should also point out that there is a small chance, were something to go wrong with the radio flash, of damaging your phone. Now I have flashed two or three different ones, and had another friend purposely try to brick his phone by flashing radios from different phones even as well as pulling the battery while flashing a radio, and did not brick his phone. Just like rooting your phone, there's always a chance something can go wrong, but at that stage it's all about weighing the pros and cons and if you have a back up plan. Hope this helps.
I'm having the same problem. I was running KaosFroyo then Nonsensikal with no issues. I switched to Tazz Froyo today and now I can't receive texts, only send them. I flashed back to Nonsensikal and it didn't remedy the problem. The radio is the same on Tazz and Kaos (didn't check Nonsensikal) so I don't think that's the issue.
I would like to point out that kaosfroyo doesn't include a radio it uses whatever you have
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Problem Solved
I found the solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770879
Hopefully it works for you as well.
So i updated my phone to CheckRom and kernel to NEAK and then Syhia.
For some reason, some of my calls keep going straight to voice mail since then. I thought maybe it was an issue with some app, so i did a wipe install of Checkrom and installed the NEAK kernal. But still same issue.
I then changed the kernal to Syhia and still some calls go straight to voicemail.
Anyone have any clue why? Any suggestions? Would greatly appreciate the help.
I had a similar problem. go to menu, settings, call, and turn off call rejection.
Hopefully its a similar issue u are having.
Whatever the issue is it's not kernel or rom related. It's purely a network setting issue. And these vary from carrier to carrier. Call your carrier.
Thanks for the reply guys. Sorry took me this long to post back.
Well i wanted to stay on the custom rom, so i did try installing it again, and i thought that since it is a full wipe, it will fix the issues. I also did a wipe cache/dalvik chache manually.
Any hows getting no where, i resotred using my original backup and everything seems to be fine. No one has complained about it, so i am guessing its all well now.
I had restored it before mrwarlock43's suggestions, but i do remember making sure that the blacklist was empty. So i never turned call rejection off.
All running now i guess. Just going to wait until ICS or the next rom before i reflash again.
Cheers and thanks for the help guys.
Hello,
I have an interesting question. Normally when you turn off notifications, it stops all notifications, as I like to use handcent and I have a key code that I use to log into my phone.
The pop up still won't go away. Is there any workaround to this?
Have you tried going into the messages settings and unchecking notifications?

I have, and they were still popping up. I was running Suarom, I am actually having major issues now... but I asked this to help others who may have issues. Long story short, the custom firmware worked fine, it won't flash back to stock, and now it won't flash anything.
I am saving that for another thread.
But yes, when I was running Saurom, and turning off notifications did not stop the pop up from coming up.

Odd, I've flashed back and forth between saurom and stock with no problems. You should take that problem over to the sarom qa thread and letting them know. As for the notifications, it may be the sms popup app or another problem created by using a custom firmware. So you should probably include that in the saurom thread, as well. GL getting your stuff straight, bro

Thank you, and honestly it should work like that. Both handcent and the default sms program had all notifications turned off, and it was still happening.
Being its not writing to the nand, I am going to see if AT&T will take it back. If so, then I'll be the happiest person alive for the day. If not, well... I'll most likely send it to a developer who doesn't have one so they can go nuts on it and see if they can fix it, and use it for development.
Ironically, I'm having the opposite problem with the stock ROM. I cannot figure out why my pop ups stopped appearing even though I have notifications enabled. I can't figure out which program I may have inadvertently disabled, as nothing seems to make them happen again.
I am running Hyperdrive ROM rls 7. I have tried many things to get MMS picture messages to work on my phone again after they have stopped unexpectedly. I can send group MMS text messages however whenever I send a picture (no matter the size) it just continually loads and never sends. I have tried reinstalling various nandroid backups to no avail with fixing the problem. Could it be that i reinstall my textmessage data using titanium backup? does anyone have the stock messaging app apk? maybe reinstalling it would help, i really don't know at this point.

Are you connected to wifi? MANY people have reported issues both on stock and various ROMs with sending MMS while wifi is connected. Try disconnecting your wifi and see if they send. While connected to wifi, the MMS messages are supposed to trigger 4g connection which transmits the data via Verizon's network. In many phones/ROMs this doesn't work right. I'm not aware of an end-all resolution though.

Unfortunately they do not send regardless of whether WiFi is enabled or disabled.

What kind of mods do you have installed with Hyperdrive? You may have to switch to a different ROM or rooted stock ROM to re-test. I don't think it's broken in Scott's ROM, but could've been an app or mod that broke it.

I don't have any mods installed with Hyperdrive, only the ones that come with it. I have already tried restoring a nandroid backup i made right after I rooted but it doesn't work there either.

Maybe try a full wipe and clean install of a different ROM? If that doesn't work, I guess I would ODIN back to factory stock. If it doesn't work there you are all set to take to Verizon store and show them. You'd be eligible for a warranty swap, but I've never gone through that before, so I don't know how it completely works.
So I recently flashed OctOS on my LG-LS990 and I am having this very annoying thing happening where I keep getting notifications that I have 1 voice mail when there aren't any. I've gone into the phone app and cleared cache, which makes the notification go away but then it comes back within a few minutes. This seems to happen quite frequently when I am at work and the signal is spotty. I've also called myself from a different number, left a vm, and then checked it from my G3 and deleted it and the icon doesn't clear. Also rebooted the phone numerous times, but it still comes back.
I was using youmail after I flashed the ROM, but have deleted it hoping it would resolve this issue. Which it has not.....
I was using Resurrection Remix ROM prior to this and initially had the same issue, but it cleared up when I did what I listed above. Anyone out there have any other ideas for how to fix this problem?
I have had the same issue and have asked but no answers yes. It is not a huge issue but really annoying. I have flashed Resurrection and OctOS and never could get it to stop showing up. I would get the VM notification EVERY time I got off of a phone call.

Go back to stock. Fix it. Then you might need to reflash CM instead of restore.
That's probably your best option
I have gone back to Stock several times using the Flash tool. When I do I have no more Phantom VM's. Root and flash a stockish ROM and still no phantom VM. But Everytime I flash any CM based ROM and get off of a phone call it comes back. after EVERY call. Aggravating more than anything.

Same here. May look at trying a different ROM. Such an annoying issue.....
Maybe try to just hide the notification. That is what I did. This is an old issue with sprint. If you really want to get rid of it, you have to find an old flip phone or something before android. Activate it and then go and clean out old voicemail's. I have been dealing with it since HTC EVO days. I have never gone back and done the real fix. If you really searched google there is info on this annoying issue.
