? Sprint doesn't throttle data
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
They do at a certain point.....i average about 500kb-1400kb/sec...then all of sudden it drops below....100kb...iy syicks there for almost a full day...then...out of no where my 3g spees increases....
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
NO they dont throttle your data....what your experiencing is the tower being overloaded with capacity and in turn your speed dropping off at times of the day...This is being fixed with the NV rollouts they are doing....
If some of you guys think sprint doesn't throttle data you are highly mistaken, case in point have you ever noticed when you activate a new phone the data screams for about 24 hours and then it crashes, that's the easiest example I can give. Take my word or not but believe me they throttle.

I know right? I mean, my 3G data speeds haven't been anything to scream about since I got the phone. However, when I'm on 4G it's rockin fast! No throttling here.

Hello, I just got a new evil 3d becuase of the dual core processor because I thought that the internet would be faster. Is there a configuration needed? With my 4 g my speeds are in the 400 and now with the 3d "dual core" processor I'm in the 200's
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
The processor has little to do with internet speeds. It helps, making things more responsive, but the signal effects the data speed. And the antenna on the 3D are at the bottom near where you'd hold the phone which could degrade the signal.
Is the phone faster than the 4G? Yes. Does that mean you'll get faster data? Not necessarily.

You'll return it in a week, once you see how slow 3g is with sprint.
IF your lucky, you might get 100k up / down, but typically, only 25k

This is dependant on location. I'm not doubting you are experiencing slow network speeds, but it's purely a matter of tower saturation, and your surroundings. I'm consistantly seeing downloads in the range of 1.0-1.7 mbs. Sometimes, at night, I can break 2.0 mbs, but that's because there isn't much activity. But, I'm in a major metropolitan area, with strong network coverage from the major 4 carriers. There was a blip for about 8 months where the speeds were really slow, but Sprint fixed the tower by my house, and now I'm back to normal.
And, to the OP, I didn't notice any difference in download speed between my Evo 4G, and Evo 3D.

exactly it all matters were u are with any network. ive been with sprint forever and ive always seen consistent 3g speeds in my hometown ranging from .8-1.7mbps recently ive moved from the east coast to the west coast and im still seeing great speeds but not the same around .5-1.0 which still works and i somehow managed to move from the best 4g city to another great 4g city haha always see speeds of 5-12mbps

The Airave doesn't provide 4G Signals. It does however provide 3G Data Connection which is usually faster than what you'd get from a Sprint Tower. Also Depends on your internet connection that you'd be hooking the Airave up to.
I just hooked up the airave and I went from 0.2 to 1.3 . It's bad assets. I recommend everybody call Sprint and get it. It's freeeeee.

My evo 4G is actually a lot better about picking up a 4G signal, but the speeds are about the same with both. The 3G and 4G antenna are still on top with the 3D but the wifi and Bluetooth are indeed on the bottom of the phone.
If you're not getting at least 600kbps on 3G call sprint and let them know. That's the minimum speed they advertise do usually they'll credit your account for it.

Sprint's data speeds are so crappy, don't expect you speed tests to be similar. And upload speeds are usually never as high as download.
And yes, be careful if you flashed a Verizon PRL not to go over 300mb a month.

I remebered an old trick from when the evo first came out where it was for some strange reason running in a gsm/cdma hybrid mode, or so the diag screen says, and if you change it to cdma only the data speeds were improved. I'm no network engineer so i'm not sure how that works, but for our phones if you click on mobile network itself in settings, the network config menu shows the radio mode as LTE/CDMA as default. I was having horrible speeds, maybe topped out at 200kbps on multiple tests, switched it to CDMA only, and was getting the same speeds as my OG evo, still a paltry 600-800kbps, but that is at my home where the 3g speeds have always been like this. Give that a try, and note that the setting doesn't stick if you reboot.

Ouch... I get good speeds aside from my ping. After the ICS update my ping went up into the mid-upper 100's and 200's from double digit ping times on GB.
T-Mo's 2G may be meh, but it's still better than AT&T's 2G network, or at least that's how it seemed when I had them.
Only smartphone I know handles tmo 3G well and doesn't seem slow on it is BlackBerry's.
T mobile reps are saying we will have 4g here by 2013. If not, in may when contract is up probably jump to the dreaded Verizon. They have 4G here.

If you're throttled I've been told by Verizon it's because you're congesting the tower you're currently at. I guess that means if you're in a different area than where you sucked down all those GBs you should be normal speed.
But Nah not that I've seen. No throttle remover.
