JellyBean Browser - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

XScope browser with adobe flash support. Uninstall any version of adobe flash before you install and you will get a popup to link to xda thread with modded flash apk. It has tabbed browsing and the pages stack within the tab, swype to left to go to previous pages without having to reload them.
Edit.. If you have flash player 11 on your phone already you are good to go. The link in browser is because you can't download flash on jb. Sorry for not doing my homework beforehand.

Thanks. Xscope is my favorite browser, but i haven't bothered to install it yet on JB because I've been flashing with full wipes so much lately. Appreciate the tip.

Not sure if it's possible in Trebuchet (if you are on CM10?) I like more custom options in my launcher - so I run Apex.

Liking this Xscope browser..

Chrome Beta

Looks like the Chrome Beta is out on the market, says it works for ICS devices only. I installed it on my Xoom and extracted the apk in hopes of installing it on my Rezound anyway, but I get the parse error message. Anyway, market link and a DL for the apk are below, if someone cares to spend the time to get it working:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.chrome
http://db.tt/GHQM6yGj
It's a free app, so I don't think I'm breaking any rules by posting the apk, but if I am, sorry bout it.

Works fine on my ICS ROM. Try just dropping the APK in your /data/app. It looks a lot better and renders faster than dolphin and the stock browser.
I must be doing something wrong, when I tried to drop it in using ES File Explorer, it tells me that the copy failed.

I'm running stock Gingerbread; just got my Rezound a week ago and haven't got around to trying out an ICS ROM. Dropping the APK into /data/app doesn't appear to work, but I didn't really expect it to work so easily
I don't have any idea if it's possible to hack this to work with GB, but that would be pretty sweet.

Are you mounted r/w?
Works on my ICS rom. (CleanROM ICS)
Went in with ROM Toolbox, seems that ES doesn't have SU privileges for some reason. Will need to find out what that is about.

If you're on Nils' ICS ROM you should just be able to install it.
Yep still on Nils ICS ROM, but its not letting me install it, has to do with security settings, its weird, he already said he took out the need to allow third party apps. I am going to play with it some more and see what I can figure out before I ask him.

The checkbox is under settings -> security -> "unknown sources". I've heard some people say that the checkbox went missing on them.
It's not there. He took it out and defaulted it to on.

It works great on De-Sensed 4.0 ICS wicked fast and I actually like it better than the stock ics browser.

I'm using JoelZ ICS base, and downloaded Chrome Beta right from the market. It installed fine, and everything worked.
This is what I am getting...
I am running Scot's clean Gingerbread Rom.
Downloaded it from phone & computer.
Market says not available for my device.

How to get apps to open instead of links opening in Chrome Beta?

How do I get dedicated apps (YouTube, Play Store) to open links and not the browser/chrome?
The only way I have found it to work is to not have a browser installed. On my tablet links open up the apps but with this phone the browser takes over.
The settings don't mean anything and no prompt even comes up when clicking a link asking what app I want to use to open said link, it just goes to the default browser automatically.
It like this on three ICS roms I've used.

Go to settings>apps>all go to the app called internet and make sure that you tap "Clear Defaults" then go into the browser and click a YouTube link and see if that works.
I am having the same problem. The recommendation.above does not work for me. I am using CleanRom Pro. The problem appears to be caused by the "App Association" settings where links are directed to the internet app and other possible apps (for certain links like YouTube or GooglePlay) are not listed. As far as I can tell, there is not a manual way to add apps to the various actions. Can anyone recommend a different ICS ROM that doesn't use this faulty "App Association" setting?
Its like that with Nils ROM as well.
I am surprised nobody else has this problem.

I know this thread is old but I'm still having the same issue. I'm running the stock ROM for my HTC Vivid and I also have the same issue. I don't think the problem is related to the ROM. Anyone made any headway with this issue?

The easiest way to do this is to go into settings, then manage applications, then find the stock browser and select clear defaults. Then the next time you open a link or browse a web page it should give the option to use either chrome or the stock browser for these actions, click the box that says use this by default. Then click on chrome and you should be good to go
That dont help.... I need Covenant eyes to think chrome came on my phone and not the stock browser....

This seems like a harder work around than its worth if you haven't figured it out yet.. Why not just install a different app that's does the similar thing however actually allows chrome to be monitored?

Deleting Verizon bookmarks

Has anyone found a working method to remove the Verizon bookmarks on the stock Rom? I used Bookmarks Manager on my Rezound, but it's not compatible with the DNA. Thanks!
Sent from my HTC Droid DNA using Tapatalk 2
Agreed, that is annoying!
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Anyone find a solution yet?
If someone wants to test this... it "should" remove the stock bookmarks. It MAY reset you Sense setup so you might need to restore it after. I can't test this because I delete those bookmarks from my ROM. That said PROCEED WITH CAUTION until someone test it. Who wants to be the Guinea pig? Should work fine.
EDIT:
Tested and it DID NOT reset Sense. Checked my bookmarks and I only had google dot com. That is the one I left behind. It looks like it worked like it should.
EDIT 2:
Since this did appear to work I removed it. You would probably need to add that in before flashing the ROM.

I couldn't remember but it maybe that that file is only read when the ROM was flashed.
I've tried editing the database that holds the bookmarks, that didn't work either. I've also tried a few bookmark managers, they haven't worked either. I can't believe that there's no way to get rid of these damn things! !

well I don't use the stock browser so I'm not able to see exactly what you mean. I figured it would be as simple as hitting menu go to bookmarks then long press and choose delete.
Chrome is so much bester, faster and cleaner lol

I disagree, I like the stock browser better. My Nexus 7 came with Chrome on it and the first thing I did was load the stock browser. The bookmarks are read-only and can't be deleted in the manner you specified.
You need a writeable kernel to permanently delete them, or s-off.
Thanks for the reply, but that isn't correct. I am both S-OFF and have a writable kernel (elkay 0.95) and the bookmarks still cannot be deleted. They are somehow protected from deletion. I'm ready to offer a bounty to anyone that can get rid of these things!!
The only way I have found to get rid of them is by disabling the stock browser and grabbing a different browser from the store. I know this probably isn't what your looking for but this is the only method I have found to get rid of them.

Flash the easy way

Hey I found an easy way to get flash installed. I don't know the link on these forums for the apk but I know there is one so if you know it use that. But if you don't want to search for it just download xscope browser. When you first run the browser it'll say you don't have flash and give you two options for places to download it from. Adobe or XDA. Click xda and it'll immediately download the apk and then just install the apk and boom you have flash. After that I'd run it with Dolphin Browser which is what I'm using it works really well I'm sure it also works with a number of other browsers.
