[Q] Returning an ATT Galaxy Note - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Ok I need to get mu note back to stock, as I need to return it. Kies is not an option, as it will not recognize the device. I have tried like 10 times. I have used ODIN, to re-flash the ATT Stock Rom, is there anything else I need to do? I don't want to pay ATT $ 599, because my note is out of warranty. Please help me. My email address is [email protected]
Thanks

Did you flash Clockwork recovery? If so, you need to put the stock recovery back.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634087

Did you research the links I gave you in your other thread ?
It is not really a good idea to post the same stuff twice ...
The links I gave you have all of the information you need to restore the note to stock ...
And the everything thread In the general section has all you need and then some.
Read up on those links and threads ...the Odin method is really quite easy .... but you won't get anyone to walk you through it .
Not because we don't want to ...rather ...the method is already established and recorded for users to follow.
A little research will solve your issue I'm Sure....
Best of luck ...g

[Q] Help needed

Hello i am hoping that someone will be able to help me. I tried rooting my phone and when it booted up i don't have a network. Now i can't' call/text/checkemail.
I tried resetting to factory settings and that didn't work. how do i remove the root so its back to stock?
Thank you!
Rooting phone has nothing to do with the network you did something wrong .
Remove root by flashing full stock firmware matched as close as possible to your original firmware .

Stock Roms .and csc

thanks for the quick response. how do i go about finding which on is closes to my origonal firmware? sorry for the ignorance?
you should have checked your firmware version first before rooting
well crap. does this mean i am out of luck and need to make an insurance claim as being lost? my issue is its with Sprint and the phone just came out last friday so there isn't much information on the web on it

I replies as per Samsung Galaxy SGS2 i9100 model and know nothing about a Sprint phone .
It would make sense to either look for a Sprint thread here or if Sprint is in the stock rom links i gave download the latest .
If it worked before root the strong probability is that you made a mistake its usually recoverable though but no idea how you rooted .

[FYI] I kinda bricked my T-Mobile Tab

I loaded the P7510 root files on it (BAD IDEA for anyone reading).
I tried to "re-stock" it with the P7500 stuff and it wouldn't work. (when I get home I will try to find the right .pit file and try it again)
I tried to push a new rom with ADB and flash it and so far no joy.
If anyone has any ideas I am open to them.
if anyone has the t-mobile 10.1 tab.... CWM recovery seems to work. I need a full system backup to restore my tab. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

What version of the CWM do you have? I found that 4.x and 5.x versions create different file types for the nandroid backup and they are not compatible.
I can create a backup for you tomorrow for any of the CWM, just tell me which one you need.
[EDIT]
I have a unbranded 10.1 3G and the backup would be from a modded Overcome ROM, but at least you would get the tab back to work.
[/EDIT]
I think it needs to be the T-Mobile ROM. I can flash stock roms for the P7500 if they are the same. Anyone else try any roms on the t-mobile tab?

Didn't the T-Mobile just release? Your the first post I have seen for it. What the model? P7500 or something else?
Also, FYI or not, this does not belong in the Dev section. Please read the rules for posting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=1053
It was meant as a combined warning and cry for help I figured since this is where everyone comes for info on root... the warning should be here too. The model number is SGH-T859
you may need some one else to do a t-mobile rom dump, and reflash either through cwm or odin. Did you check the samsung firmware site for a recovery image? As a last resort, you could exchange it for a new one. And of course make a good backup in the future to go off of.
BTW, that is odd that your model number is so different from the normal gt-7xxx. Just to be sure, this is a galaxytab 10.1 or 8.9, right?
Yeah it is a 10.1 .... t-mobile always has a new number but it does surprise me that the p7500 stuff isn't working... I will try again tonight. If anyone has the T-Mobile 10.1 tab please send me a system backup

Not surprised the model number is different considering the LTE from Verzion is different as well.
ok so I got it to work with the 002001-Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.3.tar here
I am making a backup. I couldn't get the "re-stocking" part to work. It looks like we need a .pit file. But if you want the CWM recovery that should work.
So far my wifi hasn't come back :'(
I am going to try a few more things and report back
Wish I'd seen you're posts sooner. I pretty much followed you right off the same cliff. I was hoping that an easy solution was at hand. I'm much more a noob at this stuff, and am having trouble communicating with the tablet at all, much less doing anything to problem solve it. I do have CWM v4.0.1.4 working and would be happy just getting the stock kernal back on it. Guess I have a lot of reading and learning to do this week.
If anyone can help, I'd (we) would really appreciate it. I have a long hospital stay coming up on the 14th and this tablet was going to make it a bit more bearable. Is there a way to remove CWM so I could do a return to T-Mobile? Just a thought...
Thanks for any input.
Hmmm this is for the new 10.1 4G model? I have a stock one I had been waiting to root til I could find out if existing methods worked or not
can u pls send me your stock boot.img?
would like to add support for it.
thx.

Yeah, don't root it yet. The current root methods don't support it. Man, if you could provide pershoot with an image and/or me with a nandroid backup that would be fantastic. I don't mind waiting for the excellent developers here on XDA to do their stuff (it's always worth it), but I've got about a week to get mine up and running again.
Thanks for whatever you can do.
I got mine to root just fine, using the process in the stickie. I used odin and then cwm to install root. Stayed on stock rom and used Ti backup to uninstall bloatware. I am happy as can be
Sent from my SGH-T859 using XDA App
point me to the recovery image you used, I'll dump a nand and upload it (asking for link just to ensure you get exactly what you need)
HI
Hi, I have a model like yours, t-mobile model: SGH-T859, if you send me a step by step I can send the files you need to get your table
Anyone has a solution for this right now?
I am stuck with the same problem
Thanks
Thanks for posting this info, I am sure this post has saved a lot of ppl from jumping off the same cliff.

if you wan't to upgrade you don't need to unroot, just flash firmware trough odin (addicted to your country)
also to unroot just flash with oding (stock firmware) and wipe data/factory reset and done,
threads are everywhere in general just look around

Since this topic is started might aswell use it instead of making a new one...so my question is:
From what I've read, in order to install CM7.2 on a Galaxy S2, you also need to install a custom kernel...so if I did all that, and want revert back to my original ROM and kernel, I just flash a stock ROM from Sammobile? Or the Kernel will remain the custom one (if so, how do I change it back to the stock one)?

Nope your kernel won't be left until you flash a Rom which has no kernel, but all Samsung roms out there have kernels inside the flashable tar or zip, you ain't smart if you don't provide a kernel which is made specially for the Rom

[Q] Un-root help needed - how can I return to S3 stock?

Hi All,
I'm totally new to rooting and to be honest I never planned to get into it and especially not in this way.... please read on....
I bought a 2nd hand S3. The original owner told me it had been unlocked from Vodafone UK, but no further modifications.
So the phone arrives and I turn it on and the first thing I notice is UltimaROM asking to download their latest v9 ROM. I see other apps installed like SuperuserSU, Headphones shortcut for SGS3, S Note etc... so I suspect the device has indeed been modified. Seller tells me it's only been unlocked and nothing else. Also, comparing to a work colleague's stock S3, my phone has a different appearance (different battery % icon amongst others...), I see Nexus 4 wallpapers are available, JaiThemes etc... all looks a bit fishy to me.
Also phone does boot into recovery mode into CWM...
So I start reading a little bit, I've downloaded Rootchecker - says phone is not rooted.
All I ever wanted was a stock S3, no interest in rooting for now. Could someone please advise what I can do to get back to stock and have it unlocked? I know there are guides to un-root a phone, but rootchecker says my phone is not rooted, and I have no original backup, so I don't know where to go from here....
Any help or guidance is appreciated here...
Check the basics, there's a guide on flashing a stock ROM.
The seller is definitely lying to you

Thanks for the reply.
If I find a Vodafone UK stock ROM, will I then lock the phone back to Vodafone?
Thanks
Don't think so, but why would you get a vodafone ROM? Just get a universal one

Thanks for that, I will look for a universal one.
I've been looking for a bit, but I can't find the 'basics' section you mention in order to flash a stock ROM.
I have searched the forums, and people have mentioned ' I flashed a stock ROM' but I need to know the steps to do this...
Also - has my warranty been affected? If yes and it is now invalid, will flashing a stock ROM solve this?
Again, any help is really appreciated here.

[Q] Get rid off 3 (three) brand to get jellybean

Hello XDA
I've been doing some research on my problem on dozens og forums, but I still haven't got what I'm looking for.
The problem:
I have a danish 3 (three) branded GT-I9100, which doesn't allow me to get the new android 4.1 update, as they haven't infected the update with their 3 junk yet.
I'm not using any of their applications or shortcuts, and would very much like to get rid of everything that has something to do with 3.
I need to backup the stock firmware in order to keep my warranty if something goes wrong, but I haven't been able to find out how to do it, because my phone has a very strange kernel: 3.0.15-1114882 [email protected] #3
I hope someone can help me. I'm not completely noob, i've been rooting my previously android phones without any problems, but I just can't figure out how to do it with this kernel.
Best regards
Morten

Then go to the official i9100 JB thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487".
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
1.just flash the nordic jellybean.
2.you dont really get a "standard backup".what you would do is just reflash the firmware your on now (remove yellow triangle etc if needed) then send your phone for warranty.
3.if your phone ever got totally bricked, it wouldnt matter what rom your on if samsung couldnt boot it either to tell.
4.so get the nordic jb rom from sammobile, flash it with odin, root with philz kernel.read about efs backup and nand backup and spockys thread about simlock...lol

First you need to find out if your phone is network locked. Theres an app for that. (search xda/play store) the same app will be able to unlock it for you too but you will need to root your phone.. see my signature for your best option as its root with stock recovery. Your next step go to sammobile.com and find and download your current firmware from there. Then find a jelly bean rom I'm using nordic but search and see what sounds best to you... There are also custom roms you may wish to choose (wannam, jellybam, there are many) find one for you with the search box or browse the forum for them. there are custom kernels as well (jeboo, philz, there are many) find one for you as above or use what your rom choice is packed with.
I cant recommend enough using mobile odin (Play store) will cost you a couple of your currency but its worth every penny.
LASTLY AND VERY MUCH MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE 10000000% HAPPY TO DO IT ONE SINGLE MISTAKE AND YOU'LL BE BACK HERE ASKING FOR HELP TO UNBRICK IT.

But how will I find the firmware I'm currently on? My warranty is spoiled if the phone isn't carrier branded,
as I have to hand it to my local 3 store to get them to send it to repair.
Perhaps my question should've been more like this:
How can I backup my branded firmware on my galaxy s2 from 3 (three)
Perhaps I'm a bit noob afterall, as I haven't seen that answer in your post or the others posts.

You havent seen it because it doesnt exist.I dont know how much of a noob you are, but you go to sammobile and get the stock firmware you are on now, and flash that if you are sending your phone back for warranty.
Eg.Im using spanish jb rooted because UK jb rom not out yet.My original software was I9100XWLPT (which is UK unbranded 4.0.4).
So if Im sending my phone back, I just flash the LPT rom from Sammobile; and check no traces of root are on my phone.
So, what you think a backup is/means, is the same result as just flashing the stock rom your on now.
You can check or wait to see if someone can confirm what level of, or if kies can make a backup of your stock rom, as I dont use kies or havent seen anyone using it.They just use odin.
