I am running a zr3dx ics Rom and not that ics is officially out, should I unroot or whatever and just download ics? Advice? Thanks

Just wait for a rooted stock rim. Besides drop is already set to create an update based in official sprint firmware.

You don't even have to wait. There are rooted stock ROMs available in development.

What's the ROM scene like right now? I've been out of the loop for a while. I currently have a ICS rom installed running ADW launcher and it's a bit laggy that I remember the gingerbread roms to be. Any recommendations for an ICS that runs as well as gingerbread?

All of the ICS roms based on the VM leak run perfectly, for me at least. Killer battery life. I haven't seen any roms based on the Sprint release yet, but there really shouldn't be much difference.

Compared to the GB ROMs, the ICS ones are all a little slow. They are definitely quicker than stock, but lag compared to GB. They are getting better though.

We are going to receive update for ICS soon. I just came across an article that I would like to share the differences between both OS and understand more about them. I'm sure you are all professional with the LEAK ICS by now.
It's also explain why the RAM we've seen is lesser then in GB OS
Mod, if you think it's not a right place, just close it

Thanks for the link. It was a nice intro to ICS.
I'm new on Android and GB is pretty cool (rocking Saurom 7.1). I wasn't really sure what ICS features were new over what I already have.
Im on gingerbread with Saurom Rom and love it. Tried the Ics. Leak and had some issues with It so i went back to Saurom Rom

+1 I tried ICS roms too only to be disappointed I mean don't get me wrong I really appreciate the devs but the ICS leak is so unstable it makes it no fun,I'll just wait for official ICS until I flash another leak build, I'm also using Saurom 7.1. IMO its the best so far
Maybe it is because I'm a bit new at this, but after running ICS leak for a couple weeks, I really do not see the big advantage over Gingerbread. It seems like an incremental upgrade and nota revamp of the operating system.
Compared to Saurom Rom, it was no big deal. I guess compared to stock GB, it is noticeably faster.
I guess we'll see soon enough.
has anyone done this yet? i want to stay on ICS, but ever since the ICS firmware that i got when it first leaked, the battery has gone to ****. i see some people getting crazy battery life still on GB firmware but running ICS roms, so i'm wondering, where can i go to get the GB firmware back? if i were to flash that RUU or whatever (with s-off), then restore my nandroid from right now, would that restore my ICS firmware, or would that be good?

to go back just backup and run the gb ruu and install the rom of your choice.

as for your nandroid question i honestly have no clue. youd have to ask someone whos more familiar with recoveries and how nandroid works

Personally, I did the same , but didn't notice appreciably better battery life. Then again, I never really complained to begin with. I recently did flash back to the newest ICS leak so I could quit having to flash patches . I only have 3g though, and use wifi at home so your use will definately vary than mine .

Well this week im trying out clean rom gb. Last few weeks I was on the pokemon rom.
I get an easy 14 hr day with 3-4 hrs screen time and close to 5 if I'm lucky.. But you gotta take into account a few things if you want this kind of life:
1. I have debloated and desensed very extremely
2. I don't EVER use task killers. More harm than good
3. On incredikernel and have uc/uv
4. I use watchdog and autostart manager to watch my cpu usage.
If I didn't do this stuff my screen time would only be around 3hrs which is still great but I just like to push it

There's a couple of custom kernels, but they're basically the same as stock with little tweaks.

the complete 3.14 leak, only rooted it and froze all the bloatware.
it's fast, it's stable, and I get the same, if not better battery life than the stock GB I was on previously.
Currently at 53% battery at 10.5 hours on battery with 50 minutes of screen-on time.
I am s-off.

any idea if the nwe 3.2 version with the RIL fix is better? i was not very happy initially with that rom. was slow to me anyway. but i LOVE sense4.0.
CleanROM DE ... closest thing available to AOSP. The thing I really wished I had while on AOSP on the EVO 4G was the Sense camera and phone. This has it!
Chingy 3.6 Rom.

I also just installed Ineffabilis Deus 1.0 this morning and I'm liking it. I was a fan of the Ineffabilis GB roms also.
Rezrom 2.4, because I wanted an ICS ROM with Sense 4.0 and it looked to be the most stable. First time unlocking/rooting/flashing and I managed not to brick it
I was tired of waiting for the OTA, and that didn't even have Sense 4.0 so as far as I'm concerned right now this software is better than anything the Rezound will ever get officially.

I'm using my own ROM based off the initial ICS 4.0.1 leak.
I'm using this particular leak because it's an early build, so HTC hasn't made as many significant changes to ICS yet... it has a lot less "Sense" in it, and plays nicer with more true AOSP files, and requires little work to fix most of the annoying bugs. I've added in my own ramdisk, init.d support, SebastianFM's OC kernel, a lot of the usual optimizations (zipalign on boot, sdcard tweeks, etc), and its great! I am trying to get that 100% AOSP look, however I still have the stupid Sense call screens to figure out..
Clean Rom 4.5 because it works and it's pretty fast. I'd like to try a Sense 4 Rom, but I need Bluetooth so until that's stable I just can't do it. Not for any length of time anyway. Looking forward to AOSP and maybe MIUI (fond memories on my Inc) or at least kernels for better batt life.

I have been trying out several different ICS ROMs on my phone for the last few months. Never had a GB custom ROM. I was on stock UCKK6 which came with my phone and then went on to the ICS roms.
I have tried almost all of the SGH-i777 custom ROMS - and MIUI as well.
Out of curiosity I decided to go back to Gingerbread so flashed UnOriginal ROM.
First thing I noticed - Damn this is smooth. Everything - browser, launcher, touch response - everything is smooth like a baby's butt.
So whats going on with ICS? why dont we have the same smooth experience on any of the ICS roms. Is it because the official source code has not been released yet? or is it resource heavy compared to GB?
Do not want to start a ROM comparison but just curious. Having moved back to GB I am not sure I am missing anything critical from ICS. Others might not share this opinion but this is what it is for me and the things I use my phone for.
I am still bitten by the flash bug - so will continue to try out the ICS ROMs.
What do all of you think about moving back to GB and the pros/cons? What ICS feature will you miss the most? Please share your thoughts!
<puts flame suit on>
I'm about ready to go that route myself... Becoming frustrated when I find a "perfect" ROM, only to have the wlan_rx wakelock come back and drain my battery into nothingness. My favorite GB is Shishir's - Fairly stock, but with some nice tweakability, and have never run into the same battery probs.

It is a personal choice.
In here, in this world, whole universe, no one forces you to do what you don't want to.
Once in a while, I still heard some people saying "Windows 3.1 is so much better than Windows 7".
It is purely your choice so no need to put the flame on.
It's good that seeing you in fact trying out a few different ROMs and finally made the decision on your own.
That's a good sign for all of us.
I've had the same experience as well. I'm not so sure if it's issues with the roms but more with the Kernels. There is a lot involved to tune the kernels just right. I'm no developer but I believe ICS may just be a little more complex this GB.... or at lease ICS is not so forgiving.... I'm not developer so who knows.
On a side note, I just tried the PARANOIDANDROID v1.1 port so far this has been on the same level as smoothness as any GB rom I've ran. Link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660974
I even found a port for my SGS Captivate and wow.... its 10x better then the GB rom. So this rom has something going on that I'm going to keep testing out. You may want to give it a try as well.
Im still on unnamed and ics has a few system changes like scrolling and touch screen responsiveness that make it how it is

I have tried AOKP with Siyah and Neak but not with Fluxi. I will give it a shot.
Of all the ICS ROMs I have tried - I thought Shishir ICS and Serendipity 9 were the smoothest - however that might be partly due to the SGS3 launcher.

Binnacle is also damn smooth. That was my personal favorite GB rom.
Every time I flash an ICS rom, I immediately go running back to GB. Maybe it's just me being impatient and not letting things "settle in", but most ICS roms I've tried aren't as quick and smooth, and that just gives me an anxiety attack

I had not even heard of this one. But saw LilChris's index post and found it. I will definitely try this one. A ROM that PirateGhost and Red5 worked on - has to be great
It shows Beta7 as the latest version. Is this stable enough to be a daily driver?

I did try Binnacle Beta 7 yesterday. I did not realize it had android 2.3.6. I somehow like the bounce effect in 2.3.4 that the UnOriginal ROM offers. Hate the glow effect in 2.3.6. Also, personally I felt UnOriginal was smoother than Binnacle (no offense) - just my opinion.
I did not leave it on long enough to comment about battery life. I flashed a different ROM. Seems like I am turning into a Flashaholic (need to restrain)
My progression:
Unnamed, then MIUI then CM7 then CM9. Doubt I'll ever leave CM9.
